I heard for some reason the smelts don’t come around the Chicago lakefront anymore I kinda wonder why…my father and I used gill nets back in the early 70’s…I got these smelts from Walmart…

Smelt in Lake Michigan have declined dramatically since their peak in the mid-1980’s . A half-full pail has been considered a very good catch in recent years. Last year, the catch was spotty, varying from evening to evening.

Mini pizza :pizza:. Chewy crunchy fermented dough. Half tomato and half roasted red pepper sauce and fresh ground mozzarella from a block. Made it on a stone on the bbq.

is this pea meal bacon , if so i miss it so much. We used to have a camp in Ontario and would get a brined loin everytime on the way up for the weekend / week . we use to smuggle it across the border back home. This was probably 15 years ago +

Yes :grinning: I wish I could send you some @Kami

I always wondered why it was called peameal bacon, I found out the other day that when it was first created they would cover it in mashed yellow peas to preserve it. After WW1 they switched to cornmeal but I guess the name stuck lol.
