What size led for a 5x5?

Is a 600w led good for a 5x5? I always have a hard time figuring out what light per tent size. Any advice?

You need at least 30 watts per square ft.
Hope this helps

I run an HLG Scorpion Rspec Far Red with a 30 watt uv bar. I have ran it under 600 watts and it did fine. I turned it up to 720 watts and the yield seems to have increased.

LEDs are more efficient these days. Companies make lights purposely for a 4x4 area. They are usually around 400w. Obviously more light = better results. I’d take the 30w a square foot as good advice.
Using the recommended watt per foot a 600w should be perfect for a 5x5.

Second the HLG Scorpion, have one and love it.

A 400w led fixture in a 4x4 is ok for veg but marginal for flowering. If you get one of the new bar style fixtures with the new Samsung Evo diodes with a 3.1 umol/j efficiency 480w would be great.

Currently i have a 315w CMH light. A grow store guy set me up with the 5x5 and this cmh light years ago. Never got around to using it recently but i do use a 450w led for a 4x4 but its never turned on past 70%( maybe thats why yields suck)

Edit seems like he gave me no where near enough light for that size tent…… but i did turn out some pretty sweet plants back in the day with it. Around 11oz off of 6 plants which i cannot do currently

I just bought a Lumii 720w. It runs off a Lumii hps ballast. For the power they give they are a cheap buy. I paid £350 for mine with the ballast included. For a 720w led light you won’t get cheaper. They can’t be dimmed in the usual way but you’ve got whatever settings the ballast comes with. Usually 250w, 400w, 600w and overdrive that gives you near enough 720w

Damn im coming up severely short. Running a 315w cmh in a 5x5 sounds like a horrible idea. Looking for a new led now. Thanks doug

I’m running 660 watts in the 4x4 and 720 in the 5x5. It works for my grow style but if I was setting up a scrog grow in the 5x5 I’d want a bit more power. I have the Spider Farmer SF7000 QB in the 4x4 and an off brand Chinese bar led in the 5x5.

I would go with an HLG Tomahawk 650 bar LED for a 5x5 :100: :fire:

I myself would buy an 880w Mammoth Mint White Series for a 5 x 5 area. Its the cheapest, most efficient light Ive seen. It is 2711umol. And a 3.05- 3.1 efficiency rating.
Has the newest Samsung EVO Mint White LED Chips, that are also supposed to help stop Powdery Mildew, and also has Far Red-730nm. Also available with 100w UV. Is Dimmable.

The 880w in a 5 x 5 is 35w sq/ft. But efficiency makes up for less w-sq/ft.

Light has 8 bars, and 3456 diodes. 432 per bar. IP65 wet rating.

Hard to beat for $800. Also has a Green enhanced spectrum. This light as made to have a spectrum like combining HPS, and Metal Halide. 4800k Kelvin rating. And to mention again. 2711umol.
