White powdery mildew, what do I do?

The trial isn’t even over yet joe is already celebrating

Schmarmpit you’re skipping a step, but I’ll hold back just to see if this way is all that’s needed to eliminate the PM.

We’re gonna need like what…5-6 weeks or so after this to see if it comes back and the eradication was complete?

yah I’ve done this lots with people the mildew killing protocol. What I’ve noticed is people get this psychological effect from it I call powdery mildew PTSD. The memories of the infestation haunt them and they are always thinking it’s there just waiting to strike. hyper vigilance the whole deal it’s traumatic.

Objectively speaking, sulfur as a fungicide is the old idea in this case, no?

yo!!! Don’t tell me you read something brother!? A ray of light!!!

I agree. I won’t declare any sort of victory until I’m more than halfway through flowering these out. Maybe longer. But I check them daily and I haven’t spotted any spread for a couple weeks now.

And yes, mildew PTSD is for real. The day after my first spray application I opened the tent and was like, OK now everything looks like it’s covered in PM. You’d think that would be enough for me to relax a bit but no.

I hear you, the struggle is real. I was just like you, once.

I cannot truly get comfortable unless my plants are happy. Robs me of my peace of mind. I don’t do infestations well lol. Bit of a cleanliness freak here which is why I always reach for the most effective product for the job. Don’t like fighting it, just want it done yesterday.

vernal man, I know you believe that. I know you want to use eagle 20, and that’s fine you can do that. But for the love of…whatever you love, please! Think of the children!!!

Think of the children? I don’t sell weed to kids (or anyone); this isn’t a DARE video.

Are you thinking about the part where I pray to several gods and sacrifice a living creature, because I did that already.

This thread is a shit show and should probably be closed now.

However, I would like to point out one thing about using systemic fungicides. You will have a lot of nontarget effects on non-pathogenic fungi, including mycorrhizae and endophytes.

I am pro- organic/mostly organic, but there are times smart use of synthetics can pollute less and/or be more sustainable than organic for the sake of organic. For example, using manure on a field to hit nitrogen goals often far overshoots on phosphorus, which is the leading nutrient cause of eutrophication. Adding a small amount of inorganic N on top, after adding the correct amount of manure to reach the P goal, would be better.

Even from a safety point of view, sometimes conventional can be safer than organic despite the pesticide exposure; take aflatoxin in peanut butter, which is much higher in organic PB than conventional, on average. Aflatoxins are carcinogenic at 1 part per billion. The EPA action limit is 10 parts per billion.

Things are often a nuanced mix. Everyone chill a bit.

I have had mold on plants,I just bin them plant no way I’m smoking any plant even a spot
Of
Mold on it,shit will kill you if it gets into your lungs
My last grow I binned a Hindu Kush and a northern berry plant

When I was harvesting them I notice some
Mold on the kolas

Straight in the bin, waste of 2 plants better that a fat ass hospital bill

Strange about the Hindu supposed to be pm resistant

Botrytis is a pain in the bung hole. You have to keep the humidity under control, or it’ll eat your buds. Outside… pray for no rain

Powdery mildew cannot live or grow in lung tissue. Botrytis neither. Aside from allergic reactions these arent human pathogens like e coli, salmonella and aspirgillus. At least this is what I have read.

See how Joe always mentions host specific. Well humans arent a host.

Not advocating for smoking mold by any means. Just not the death sentence you are making it out to be. I would gather we have all smoked our fair share of botrytis cinerea and powdery mildew in our life.

I have read that botrytis cinerea is actually systemic. There have been studies where even when you chop out the ugly bits the “safe” and “clean” buds all test positive

I smoked a bag of botrytis buds and my throat hurt for 2 weeks after. It’s nasty.

No doubt it was. What im saying is its not going to grow in your lungs the way aspirgillus will.
