I had bought that sack of buds from someone I knew…
the poisoner. for 140$. I promised myself I would grow way better buds than that. So I did. The poisoner has been shut down for poisoning everyone, now.
I wouldn’t smoke it that’s just me
Ok, I really really appreciate this thread and do not want it to be shut down, and as a new person here I’m not sure if this means anything but lets get this over with.
Joe: “you’re a poisoner”
Vern: “make a cartoon about it”
Ok. We heard you. Please take it to PM. I appreciate both of your insights on this topic and understand that you have opposing views and therefore want to argue this, but either keep your responses level or take it to PM. Reading literally hundreds of repetitive petty attacks at each other is not helpful to anyone except maybe your own egos. I’m sorry but someone had to say this.
He actually told me I should never pm him again. I respect his wishes. I will refrain from doing the vernal thing and also olereynard. But here’s my deal. Anyone who comes on this thread, I can personally help slay the mildew demon. I will help you with the psychology process I call mildew ptsd and the mildew will be toast. That’s my solid promise to newbs. All you have to do is embrace the truth and it’ll be over.
Super interested to see how this experiment turns out! I think it is very likely that the reason the sulfur isn’t working for some people is that they either did not do a complete clean of their grow area and equipment and/or did not thoroughly spray every surface of the plants. I would even say that maybe a wetting agent would help at the least, but just based on my little understanding of this topic. I can say for one, that I will try this if I get PM inside again as my primary eradication method.
As for myclobutanil, I understand there are other breakdown products besides just the hydrogen cyanide, but for context burning cannabis itself produces hydrogen cyanide, arguably, more then may be left if you sprayed a mother plant with myclobutanil and smoked the bud off her clones, as is stated in this post from health canada about this situation happening with Organigram, I believe.
I appreciate that a lot and I definitely have PTPMSD haha. And by all means remind people of the dangers when someone tells noobs to use these big ag chems too. Even neem people know about now to be dangerous, but I guarantee there are 1000s of people telling others its safe to spray in flower. I have always said this and will continue to as well, nothing should be sprayed on a flowering plant imo then water and h202
I appreciate you, thanks for giving my monkey brain a kick in the monkey brain. It really helped!
I know you feel strongly about protecting people and that is not a bad thing either! we’re all monkeys imo
Also, wanted to say in general that pm/botrytis may not grow in lung tissue, but they can still cause an upper respiratory infection, and personally, I get them every time I smoke bud with pm or bud close to buds with botrytis.
ok, I’ve done lots of thinking. Here’s what I have come up with…
In real life I do cannabis grow and other grow trouble shooting. Part of it is knowing what to do, and what not to do. There also another part. It’s the human part. It’s about the eyes… you know. The look of a human about to do something so desperate to solve their problem, it will cost them everything. I’m talking about legal producers. People who have invested their entire life into a grow project who are now facing extinction due to some stupid parasite. I take them, and I tell them the answer to their problem. I also deal with the… trauma. It’s real people, the trauma from being infected by a parasite and it costing you everything. Each human here, searching for answers, so desperate to end the victimization. Only to arrive and be re-victimized by other growers past trauma. Please, I care. The cycle has to end… I’m begging you all. It even includes olereynard and vernal. I wish, I could help you past the trauma of what happened, join the group. As a support group, we can all get through it and stop victimizing the people who just got freshly infested and are desperate for answers. This post isn’t some kind of sick joke, look deep inside. I’m… just really sad for you if you can’t find it in yourself to believe me.
Can’t say I don’t find this interesting…
I’m sorry to say I may have bungled my little sulfur experiment. Allow me to explain. I placed an order for some clones on Strainly way before I realized my PM issue. Then I realized what was up and destroyed all my plants except for the clone/mom tent (sulfur experiment).
2 of the 5 clones from my order showed up just a week ago. Only one survived the trip, Triangle Kush, the other was snapped in half some how. I wanted to try my hand at catching issues earlier so I put the only plant from them in my quarantine tent upstairs. This tent had been empty for 2 weeks, with an initial deep cleaning with Microban.
Well 1 week later in this tent and the TK clone shows PM. I was suspect of it all along and was being extra careful not to soil my experiment downstairs. This clone had burn spots on some new leaves and a residue of some kind (see pics at the end). It had obviously been treated with something. The scary thing is that my UV blacklight did nothing on this plant. I was only able to spot the death fuzz in natural lighting. I found it tonight, trashed the plant, and told the vendor not to send the rest of the order.
Now I’m totally on the verge of just scrapping this whole experiment downstairs and saving myself of few more weeks of anguish. I am worried I could have brought the PM downstairs somehow, even though I have been very cautious. Maybe it got on my clothes or hair and I didn’t shower in between one time. I am worried that my blacklight theory is totally bunk and maybe everything is still infected downstairs. The only way I’d even be able to tell is to wash off all this sulfur and then see if anything is left behind.
I am really considering just scrapping all these sulfur treated plants and starting over from seed. Even though they are well treated with sulfur for more than the prescribed duration, this small misstep could derail the whole thing. And if for some god-forsaken reason it STILL shows up after all that then I will use Eagle20 without hesitation. This must end. I’m not moving lol.
Here’s the response from the vendor when I told him what I found, as if he kind of already knew.
“Sorry about that man. The struggle is real with new strains coming in weekly. Lots of things will kill the spores, compost tea spray is the best. Regalia is also awesome. I can send seeds as replacements”
My brief experience with clones leads me to believe that it’s akin to saying you want to have sex with lots of different hookers but not get any STDs. I just ain’t happening that way.
And this final edit from him leaving my Strainly review. This is bound to make JoeCrowe giddy. When shit hits the fan he busts out the sulfur lol. And it actually kind of makes me 2nd guess scrapping my experiment…maybe I’ll keep it going. At least spray them off and see if anything pops back up in another week or two.
“Great dude, everything definitely could have gone smoother on my end. Sorry about the powdery mildew bro. Im about to sterilize veg with a powdered sulfur spray and make a better compost tea next round for the clones”
Just go back and spray everything with sulfur again, and call it a wrap.
I use what I call protocol 0 to eliminate parasites before the plants enter the grow. I take in infested clones all the time.
Does kinda beg the question though, If sulfur (and compost tea) work so dang well…how come he’s still passing moldy cuts?
Makes me wonder why people trade/sell/give away moldy cuts
It’s easy to veg plants and then sell cuts for $100.
He could shut down, treat everything, and restart…but then folks would stop handing him benjis for branches.
Dudes on IG charging 200+ for unrooted clippings lol…AND PEOPLE PAY IT hahaha.
Some people don’t know, other people tell themselves the issue is fixed, and a few probably simply don’t care at all.
I got the hops viroid through a clone dealer. A bit different and actually incurable but similar thinking. People have a hard time turning off a tap that leaks money.
After sleeping on it I’ve decided to let the sulfur experiment run its course. They are all so totally caked in it still I just have no idea how any spore from upstairs could transfer on me and get a foothold down there. And I’ll spray them again for good measure.
Meanwhile I’ve deep cleaned the quarantine tent upstairs again and have started seeds. In a months time if there is any indication of spread downstairs I’ll scrap everything and have seed plants ready to roll.
What really gets me are the people saying the spores are everywhere now, and even after a reset they will float down from some portal of hell and restart the infection. Having this recent PM trauma, I’m inclined to believe them.
Does microban have a smell?
I cleaned my quarantine tent with 90% isopropyl and it was terrible. Had to leave and when I came back after an hour the small was still there faintly. I wore a VOC mask so its wasnt bad while spraying. Well the first couple minutes were then I realized I had that mask.
I would have tried the sulfur but my boiler shit the bed and had to get a new water heater installed so had to rid the house of plants.
Smells like a hospital. Chemical clean type smell. The odor is not terribly strong though even when spraying it.
Don’t worry about it.
From this old source, spores don’t seem to be able to live much longer than a couple days after being produced from the active fungi:
Does beg the question how you get it in winter…maybe it’s on the houseplants at an undetectable level, maybe the guy next door is growing and has a real bad problem lol. Point is, I wouldn’t fret too much after a thorough cleaning, assuming you’re either starting fresh or handling the problem another way. As long as the active infestation is totally eradicated, AND you adjust growing conditions going forward, AND don’t bring in more infected material, I can’t see you getting reinfested anytime soon.
