Most of that stuff does not work for eradicating PM. I say “most” based on what I’ve tried, which is a good portion of that list. Might knock it back, but PM wins.
Everybody that gets PM, runs to Google and finds the 10 organic approaches to dealing with PM…then they waste their time trying to make those work. I know I did The garlic spray worked the best, but needed to be fresh as the results degraded quickly.
So…I followed Joe’s instructions. So far the results are perfect. I sprayed them real good before the flip…3 tents flowering, one is a breeding tent and very tight. I don’t see a spec of PM anywhere. I’ve also hit some squash leaves outside that were showing a pm, and that is going away. Rain is not helping. Speaking of rain, I had a couple of small plants that were being bred and light depped…then mold/or boytris…whatever showed up. I still needed a month for the seeds to be viable and sprayed them down with the wettable sulfur figuring the rapid onset would kill the plants anyway…and it stopped the rot/mold. They were ugly and I trashed the weed, but I got my beans.
I’m a fan Joe!
Hey All!
My again… the guy with the special light bulb. Big surprise… the PM came back! hahaha but honestly it didn’t come back until about the last 3 weeks of flowering where as before it came back really fast. Obviously I need to figure something out in my environment but I won’t be using my tent inside until about October or something now. So I’m going to clean it out and leave it for a few months. Either way I think the light was somewhat effective. Who knows… Just thought I’d update the status for those interested. As you were…
I’ve not seen a speck of mildew since my sulfur treatments and I check religiously. I’m running three tents now jam packed with plants in the heat and humidity of summer. I’m 6 weeks into flower and have a couple more left. If the mildew was present at all then it would definitely be spreading out of control by now. It’s the prime environment for it, but the original colony is no longer in existence.
I did not thoroughly clean my tents after the infection. I did wipe the walls down but my lights, air filters (including dusty prefilters), ducting and everything up above was left untouched. I have not been using any IPM sprays since the restart either, as an added test. I have been hesitant to say the sulfur worked for a few months but at this point I’m a believer.
There is so much bad info to wade through on this subject its overwhelming. I’m happy to be a sulfur advocate now. Destroy the mildew colony with sulfur and there will be no way for it to come back unless you bring in another colony. Thanks Joe. Even if we can get a handful of people to prove this out, it will be a major help to overcome the mountain of BS out there.
Thanks for testing and reporting! You are my heros, and I love you all! Pay it forward by telling someone else who’s struggling. lol, of course you always meet those people who say it doesn’t work. I guess they never tried it.
hah hah now people know why I was so confident the colonies were dead even after day 1. It NEVER fails to eradicate powdery mildew in a laboratory setting - just like all your grow rooms.
Works very well for sure. I haven’t tried powder in the pots but I do burn it .
heh heh I’ve read your posts and I know… that you know what you’re doing. You definitely didn’t start growing yesterday. The strangest part is I’m 100% sure I’m not the “only” one on this planet who knows how to eradicate PM, but after each person who suggested sulfur there was like 1000 bullshit posts right after that blew right past the truth. After a while I got pissed off and the thread took a turn for the better where the truth finally overcame the bullshit. In an agitated state… I just kept posting the protocol over and over in an attempt to drown the lies. Now the lies have crumbled, and I am sooooo happy. Yo, the truth saved at least 4 people’s grows now and counting.
For sure I’ve mentioned it several times also but a lot of the time it’s in one ear and out the other need to stick a cork or thumb in the left side so it lingers a bit and actually makes sense .
I’ve seen people fall into a trap before where their personal narrative doesn’t include actually eradicating mildew. They’ll say it’s everywhere. Floating in the wind! On their mom’s nose! Spores! Those are the people who are impossible to convince to even try it. They simply will refuse to try it at all. In the end, the result is usually: They stop growing… defeated, or they start spraying myclobutanil on every grow, which I would say is defeat as well. It’s like… not knowing how the parasite lives, leads to defeat. Reading articles online like the one gramps posted, That’s suicide. So, much…crap… it boggles my mind. How can so much disinformation be referenced on a daily basis. I would never put my name to crap like that it would mean I don’t know anything about it. That aspect of the human mind fascinates me, how we hold onto disinformation that’s never been proven as being a fact. Amazing! Pass the freeze dried hash, wheeeee!!!
I don’t know why you have a problem with me ? I was talking about outdoor when in flower and using something that would not alter taste or smell . go ahead and spray / burn / dunk your buds I could care less .
no problem with you gramps, it was the terrible information from that online article. It’s garbage copypasta.
And I have no problem using sulfur early in a grow when problems first start . My concern was late in flower with a large grow right next door that was having major problems . I was trying to help keep their problem on the other side of the fence . They were burning sulfur and spraying and losing the battle to little too late with plants just weeks from harvest they switched to doctor zymes . maybe it just washed all the sulfur and dead bugs off the buds somebody bought the whole run .
Here’s the problem with your story. If they deployed sulfur the mildew would be dead. As in, it’s not coming back, ever.
To be fair i sprayed with sulfur for a couple months and it didn’t eradicate my problem. So far the microban fogging and MERV13 intake filters seems to be working perfectly. I’ve yet to see a speck after 2 successful rounds.
It wasn’t just mildew it was mites and aphids and you can look at all my photos of my grows and compare to your own . I don’t need to tell any stories I have proof of my superior grows .
There are two classic examples of personal narratives. Unfortunately beacher and gramps have succumbed to the lure. I’m just here to remind everyone of a simple truth:
One spray of sulfur kills the mildew forever, but I always recommend two sprays just to make sure you got it all. Coat the plants good, in veg, you’ll never see mildew again.
Red flag warning here so no sulfur burning or spraying because of the drift getting on the wine grapes . I have a transfer load coming the plan is to bury the plants then use a skid steer to uncover that should take care of the problem . thanks JoeCrowe
This scenario you have created is complete rubbish. We’ve been over this. You treat the plants once before you even plant them and the fungus is gone forever. How come you keep inventing scenarios where it won’t work, are you biased against it?
So when someone like beacher sprays sulfur for a couple months and it doesn’t work, they’ve “succumbed to the lure”. Weirdly dramatic, again.
@gramps he doesn’t have a problem with you per se, he’s just really into himself, fancies himself a scientist, god’s-gift-to-growers-type-thing.
