Who here likes Zippo lighters?

As a non-smoker, I’ve got a Zippo that hardly ever gets used. Any time I want to use it, it needs to be refilled with fluid. I guess it’s just evaporating away. :man_shrugging:

How long do those of you using your lighters regularly get out of each fill-up?

I did not know that’s what that lighter is. Thank you. Knowing stuff is so excellent! G8PxQ8j

This is an actual Zippo! HA! It’s copper, so it’s a little unusual.

@mota copper! Whoa!

I have a well worn brass one but now I must also find a copper!

I shouldn’t be surprised, but I didn’t know they made brass Zippos too.

I think it’s a commemorative lighter made in 1989.

Once again, thank you so much for that information!

@mota
I have a copper Zippo as well. It’s the one my best friend Jeff carried for many years.
The silver one is the one my dad carried most of his life. That thing has been around the world and back several times.
The chartreuse one was given to me by my secret Santa and good friend here on OG.
:wink:
The black one was in a box of stuff given to me by the mother of another friend who passed away a few years ago.

I have several others that are in storage but these sit on my display shelf in the living room.

Only the brass one has any play in the hinge @DougDawson .

That’s awesome!

Wow, that’s impressive. I used to swap the pins with cut thumbtacks to fix this but now have a pin press, hinge plyers and extra pins for the full size and minis.

I don’t know how old they are but the two in the middle have seen a lot of use. The black one is fairly new but it belonged to my buddy Steve so I keep it on the shelf.
Jeff had an older one that he carried when we were in high school but his brother has that one. This one isn’t quite as old.

Zippos have a free lifetime warranty. My hinge was damaged to the point it wouldn’t close. I shipped it to them and they shipped back 6 weeks later with a new hinge. It’s back to the condition it was when new

Now it would probably be closer to 6 months. lol

It was only last year I did it. But it wouldn’t surprise me lol

really I didn’t know of those things I have sent mine back to zippo and had them fixed and to be honest they’re pretty perfect when they came back

The only issue I have there is they don’t guarantee they will send your lighter back and not a replacement. But I agree, they have an amazing warranty. When I bought the stuff to fix them it cost me $40 for a vice, pin extractor, hinge plyers, a punch for the hinges and 10 pins for both models. I can swap out a pin and tighten the hinges in just a few minutes.

I also like to do things myself when I can. But I would agree, they do great work.

Someday I’ll dig out the box containing my other Zippo’s. Those were just yard sale finds but some look old.

I use to love my zippo lighters until I filled one up and stuck it in my pocket upside down. That think leaked bad and soaked my pocket and irritated my skin to the point of a burn. After that no more zippo’s for me.
