Who likes History?

No. I was speaking to one person in particular.

And I didn’t say you were an idiot that assumption is on you.

It’s part of the word sarcasm. Maybe you don’t understand it. Go watch some Kids in the Hall, that might help.

Well this has been a good talk.

Absolutely excellent.

No need to shut it down, @Foreigner just loves to tussle.

I like History. Studied it hard, for years. Heavy on WWI and II, and a deep dive on Vietnam. The Revolution and the Civil War were also part on my interests. Needless to say, I have always been a bit libby hippy dippy. I am foolish, but I am no fool.

We run a modified socialism here in the good ole’ US of A. We make lots of money, and spread it around, our country, and the entire world. That in and of itself is socialistic.

We have, unfortunately for the power mongers and warllords, had just about enough. We are not going communist, simple. Red = NO

RED, WHITE, and BLUE= YES

Lot’s of Americans understand Socialism, we live it everyday. Paychecks are decimated by the consolidated power at the top. The socialists/speech police, skim 60% of the taxes off the top, launder it into their accounts, and then waste the rest on ‘social’ programs. That’s socialism, the people that work the hardest get fucked the hardest. Sounds like fun, for others, not us.

Winds of change will hopefully blow all this shit away. If not, well it was a good ride. Glad I had a chance to enjoy true freedom.

I think if all political correctness was entirely revoked, everything else would fall into place. That’s where it starts, they control your speech, and tell you what you can and cannot say. Fuck that, in every way. Don’t say this, but call me that, fuck you too. That’s socialism, no freedom of speech, no guns, cap on your earnings, freeze your bank account, ya no -

Freeze my bank account? Oh boy, that would not go over well

I was going to explain it but it is explained very well in the first minute of this video.

It’s true, we run a modified socialism, but the more we bailout industries, the more we fuck things up. So, we can’t go too far, or there will be nothing left of our world.

Bailout the banks, the autos, who else? Ukraine? The entire effing world? Yup, us uninformed Americans, we are to blame for being ignorant of the meaning of a word.

The quietest, and worst bailout, imho, happened in Massachusetts too. The bailout of the big fishing boats in the 1980’s. If, gubby doright had let the market take care of things, there would still be plenty of fish around. Shoulda let those boats sink, and the peeps find new jobs. Now, you have giant federally funded vacuum cleaners, sucking up every fish in the sea, and only harvesting 10%, and discarding the rest. Socialism sucks. Allow the free market to create and dispatch industries and jobs. All this, so granny smith can say she ate salmon this week. Gubby doright is doing a horrible job. Salmon, bye bye, codfish bye bye, aahhh but people gotta eat. Gotta make cheap fish available to people. But we gotta stomp out the cows, I could go on and on and on.

The fisheries are only one example, ever hear of EV’s -oof, those batteries will be the end of civilization. But again, just a socialist ploy to reallocate wealth. They must get the wealth out of the oil peoples hands, and into their electrified hands, simple as a pimple, and as unsightly, middle finger emoji

For the record I’m a capitalists
Not a crony one but A real one.
I would appreciate it if someone here would behave better.
Name calling and personal attacks only show who the real idiot is.
And whenever someone resorts to that its become
Obvious they are intellectually out of Ammo.
A quote by one person is meaningless.
Inject personal opinion, But state it as such
So others can Note it and go around.

Europeans , some of them amaze me accusing
Us of not knowing what shit is, when it’s smeared
All over their faces.
But Don’t get my thread shut down.
When I asked who liked History i had hoped
The very nature of the question would weed out
The intellectually weak
Ewwwwwww History lol.
Strawman, Opinions with zero Fact
Not welcome in my thread.

Edit:
As to Socialism and the variants etc
Again Obviously someone has not watched
The vids I posted, I know 2 hours of pure history
Is to much for weak minds, however
Your NOT to comment (on National Socialism fascism etc)unless you have.
I would expect a protest with a time stamp
So we All can examine what is true
And what is an opinion.

Again, if your an intellectual sprinter perhaps
A thread on cookies be more palatable
THIS thread requires intellectual marathon runners.

Ive looked at this thread a few times but was unsure whether to post but why not.

I used to be an archaeologist so not necessarily history as it usually the “winners” who write history and its the archaeologist who correct their lies.

These are some of my photos of an excavation we carried out in Iceland over 20 years ago. This sight is one of the most important in Iceland, it is the farmstead of Snorri Sturlesson who featured in the Viking sagas and who was slain upon this site by his enemies.

This was quite a challenging piece of work and involved exhumation of modern graves, many of the cadavers still had remains of clothes, hair and flesh and were overseen and blessed by the local priest Geir.

This was my only excavation in Iceland and straight from this dig I made my way to Ghana to investigate the first inhabitants of the Sub Sahel region. I then spent many seasons working across Africa on various surveys and excavations, even having the good fortune to be able to re-evaluate some of Leakeys old sites in Kenya and Tanzania.

Indys whip was gifted to the Institute of Archaeology UCL due to their input on the original film. It was then sold to fund some of the research labs in the basement. Cheers Indy.

Radical possibly but not nearly as performing taxidermy and keeping the founder
of our University in a glass box on public display. We hounour you Jeremy Bentham and your utilitarian principles. The jealous Oxford and Cambridge unis used to come steal his head and hold it to ransom. Hes now taken out of public display I think but his head comes out at any major University meeting and is placed with reverance at the head of the table. Us Bloomsbury set are a unique bunch. Hes not the only pickled member of our Uni either.

It’s not true. Socialism is not giving money or subsidies to private corporations. Might need some more history on what socialism is, since that is a fundamental misunderstanding. What you’re describing is more born from Keynesian economics.

Neoliberalism is the current economic philosophy of the US.

Flinders Petrie founded the Egyptian archaeology dept. at the uni in the early 20th C. His wife kept his head in a hat box and donated it to the Royal college of surgeons.

I love history. I especially lean into the ancient histories and mythologies. I’m not an academic by any stretch but rather than music I listen to several podcasts. Currently I’m binging on “the history of Egypt podcast”.
