Thanks @iceman! I am learning as I go and always appreciate the feedback from you guys.
Ok, I will check out that link.
@Fuel thanks so much for your insights, very helpful!
Where are you getting this?
A good 15 -30F day/night temp differential is good otherwise the plant uses up its carbo production via photosynthesis to respiration processes, instead of tissue production.
Having said that the lonnnnnnng internodes can be caused by several factors:
-
Use of high P fertilizers,
-
Insufficient light exacerbated by high P foods,
-
sativas

1.Its not a bad thing. Adjust to your plants as they show their individual characteristics. Stake these stretchy ones up as soon as you can.
2.Just take lots of notes. Strain, your feeding regimen, temps, timing, etc… Your notes will tell you a lot of information that will help you in your future grows.
Note: I grew Slurricane quite a few times over the years. Some of the plants stretched alot and some had minimal stretch but they all stretched more than most of my other plants.
Cheers.
Not too late to top.

I’ve used Paclo quite a bit. 2-4% would be about right. You have to make sure you don’t go under or over on this stuff as you’re messing with nature’s ho moans.
I’m currently growing pure indicas. There is no stretch and you really have to let veg go a long time. I recently harvested a 18" tall Cannacopia Lapis Mtn indica. Got a lot of fine bud but my plants usually go 4-6’ indoors to finish.
Stretchy sativas or sativa doms is all I’ve ever known. You learn to train and manage them.
Again, genetics…
Good luck,
Uncle Ben
Good points bro.
Bushmaster is typical crap from the cannabis industry.
Use and understand quality commercial ag industry products.
Aussies use Paclo in their avocado orchards and the Indians have been applying to mangos forever in their orchards.

I saw a plant expert on TV recently who said that you can get shorter plants by often touching or shaking the tops or just using a fan that moves them.
I’ve always run a 20/4 light cycle in vegg period which stops stretch on most all the plants I run in flower, nodes stay super tight!!!..and I’ve adopted this approach over many yrs…I’ve tried 18/6 24/0 and 20/4…20/4 virtually eliminates stretch and for closet growers wanting to get maximum benefit from headroom space in flower you cannot go wrong!!!it’s never been a problem in the 20 odd yrs I’ve used it.!!!18/6 indoor allows for too much night period imo…on the outside that’s back end of high summer in terms of the clock times…I always aim for growing in gardens that are at peak mid June light period…where I live height of summer around second week in June it gets dark for 4 and a bit hours then light…if temps are moderate and not peaking what actual outdoor temps are you can run rooms as if you was right in the middle of the heat period but lower the indoor temp to peaking late 70s and you have the recipe for short squat tight internodal bushes that can be topped numerous times and stay extremely low…the 20/4 light cycle doesn’t allow stretch but still aids rest for that critical period of vegg growth…
The times I’ve grown both Dosido and it’s daughter strain slurricane, they both have a good amount of spacing between nodes. they tend to be individual golf ball nugs other than the very very tops.
@anon80198312 That’s an interesting idea. I have heard of doing that with autos but not photos. I may play around with that for my next run. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips!
I’m outside and have nights in the 50’s/low 60’s for most of the summer and get a fair amount of stretch. But it’s not necessarily bad and the plants normally fill in nicely. How many times did you top yours?
Similar day and night temps will reduce stretch in veg, but I’m not sure the same applies in flower.
you have beautiful plants.
i dont think you’ll have issues with yield.
looks like you a have some dialed in grow room and genetics . plants are doing what theyre suppposed too… they should fill out ! and make for an easy trim
i am.super jealous…i have either , 99.99% indicas
lol or environment designed to produce short fat squat bonzai plants !
every grow over an over. sometimes.i get a random genetics that over power and grow tall.
i train all through veg by crunching top nodes all-knowing lowers to catch up , then wrestling /bending all the branches every morning to toughten them up.
node spacing so tight…and do many leafs its problem. like the leafs are protecting buds from lights
check out my awesome oppisite grow@@

and some famous squattrrs…i need to top more and stretch more…and apparrently 18-6
my baby buzhsz. i wish i could grow like you
i guess listening to light recommendations guide and not having root + p.h. problems lol
Great last post…awesome stuff calix!!!
In addition to earlier replies I will show here a pic of 7 photoperiod indi leaners at 18 days from seed(which in truth isn’t a fair example but it’s just to illustrate growth)20/4 light schedule…biobizz all mix compost…1 300w cool blue envirolight approx 15 inches from growth tops…there could be male or female here but look at the squat uniform growth in regards to height?..they’re stretching outwards and not upwards…when you have sativa crosses or sativa the 20/4 light cycle keeps things way more acceptable enabling the grower to perform the shorter squatter Bush…
and some examples of low light vegg rooms with a few months growth under 20/4…you can achieve bulletproof squat miracles ready for indoor closet headspace!!!..and my humblest apologies for swamping the thread.you are a highly competent grower from where I sit brother…some genes can just grab you though…I got caught yrs ago on a pineapple fields from Prof at dynasty…gave me major headaches training the arms away from the light…happens to the best of us…lololol…can’t say I’ve had it happen since though.
@Razor Wow, great work. I only topped mine once. I have never been quite sure where to top a second or third time. This is my 5th grow, so I am still learning.
@Calix those are cool looking plants, they really do resemble bonsai. I have had a couple in the past grow like that but just assumed it was their genetics. Thanks for your comments, I appreciate the input.
@anon80198312 they are beautiful plants, thanks for sharing the photos so I can see what the results are with the 20/4 schedule. Definitely something to try in a future run. Thanks!
I just started a small grow and I will switch the timing today to 20/4 to see if it works in my 170cm tent. Anything else I have to think of when switching to flower cycle?
