Wide Node Spacing - What did I do wrong?

I would like to make a point of how leds are “supposed” to be used.

Typically you would want about a 10 foot ceiling height with your “1000 watt led”. This grows large, lanky stretchy plants with minimal buds…leds are typically used when you can’t grow outside, like cold climates…so large stretchy minimal buddage plants are to be expected. Leds are great for seed crops…etc.

The gardener needs to understand the impact of their actions and go with what works best for their plan. 4 MAIN colas gets you more than one, shortens the plant, but they’re still big plus it’s easy peasy like applying Osmocote. Takes a few seconds and you’re done.

Beautiful “trees”. You must be in an area that allows growing your own? Where is this?

Hell, here in Texas you have to be cool about it. Nothing like the redneck days of the late 60’s, but still…

I keep mine about 12-18" above tops. It’s a VivarSpectra KS5000. Love this thing. Big plus is a detachable driver. If I want some heat I place it with the plants. If not…

You can use HID lightning to reduce stretch by running a HID lamp with higher blue ratings during the stretch period, and placing a LED in flowering will reduce stretch when used with the HPS.

In reality MH,HPS, CMH, LED should be all utilized if you’re not under the Sun. LED can be used as well to manipulate stretch.

Plasma lights are great, you can raise them higher, not good for low ceilings like your bedroom. :dove:

I’m going to purchase those soon and test them. You can look up Light Emitting Plasma (LEP) and see if you find them a solid light for indoor growing too. :100::dove:

I actually attempted to top and prune and tight node spaced plant , first thing I got was a salad bowl of weed lol

It was a lot of tedious work, I used u shape wires to hold the limbs down.

One limb broke as i was applying pressure down, I put the U shaped wire under it, and held up the branch,
No tying needed, held it up perfectly till it recovered. Nice clean heal and the branch was stronger.

I was gonna top and prune it more but once I knew it was male I decided to breed up the female selected for it early, so I could finish other projects going.

This female below was more closely related to the WS18 male in smell and structure. Super Skunk small, Skunk pee growing , a meat phase, then sweet to Skunky. Since I found a male and female the same everything with the WS18 they got bred together.

I’ll be breaking both parents out and creating F1s soon. Washington Skunk is up now. :100::boom:

This WS18 was non topped bigger leaves, skunky when you smell above it, and skunk when you touch a bud, finger smell test.

Washington Skunk x Uncle Festers Skunk 18

I hit that WS18 with a beefy rare Afghanica phenotype expression Red Devil. Super sweet smell it had. One of the best I’ve smelled in a sweet.

There was hardly any SK1 showing in this male, most of the 60 RD seeds I tested had narrow 5 to 9 leaves. This male had 11 and full Afghanica. :dove:

So I bred up the 50/50 phenotypes to keep the Red Devil as it’s described.
These special phenotypes like the Male Red Devil I’ll use in crossing strains, like the non topped WS18.

WS18 is a real Skunk, you have to get close to find out. If outdoors it should throw out a long scent.
The WS18 when it was little was powerful smelling straight Skunk.

So it made it all the way through with a Skunk, Skunk pee, no burnt rubber it hit a candy sweet for a bit touching it as seeds were maturing.
Regular water rinse it threw out Skunk strong as I wetted it down with buds on it.

Very impressed with WS18.
Smoke test means 100% in calling anything a true Skunk I’ll let you know after a long cold dry cure. :100::dove:

After a few hours today in the cold 54 I checked it , I had a Skunk, had someone else try it, they said a Skunk too. Sweet and solid comfortable Skunk. They really digged it!

Seeds should be finished in 2 weeks.
Red Skunk 18 is the new name of the cross Red Devil x WS18. :100::dove:

Damn that sounds awesome man :call_me_hand: shitty time to be out of likes

I wanted to post an update on the plants. The wide node spacing definitely filled in as the buds are bulking up. Everyone looks good except my Ethos Endgame. She is turning really yellow and I am not sure if it is lockout or a ph issue maybe? I PH to 5.8 but the runoff (in coco coir) is closer to 6.2. She is in week 7 of flower so it feels a little early to be senescence. Thoughts?

bend it down under your net, that’s what it is for. right?
not trying to piss any one off. just wanting to make sure I understand what netting is used for most of the time, correct?

very nice, makes my mouth simply… water! did not see, what size tent, bags, setup, etc. if you don’t mind? looks terrific.

regards,

@mike28086 it is in flower…it grew through two scrog nets. I bent a few that were too close to the light, but the rest are fine. No reason to bend them under the scrog at this point.

Plants are definitely looking great!
They should be bulking up more in the coming weeks.
Good luck!

Not senescence at all at first glance (i’ve not the nose on trichomes colors too), they’re looking to start to stack goodness in using N as hell to provide yield. Genetic matter.

6.2 is a decent margin for coco drain, don’t turn mad to regulate too much too often at this stage.

Don’t be impatient, they are sturdy baobabs with more latency. You’re on the go for a big show ^^
