I always check pH of my source prior to adding nutrients, because I like to know, I then add nutrients, which takes me almost to where I want to be and then the amount of PH up or down is minimal.
Otherwise, I would have to pH to get where I want them add nutrients and turn around and throw pH up at it…

I do check ph before and after. Where I messed up is I didn’t check ph of medium that I transplanted into and it was “hot” compost in bigger volume. I did flush it with ph’d water but didn’t Check runoff that was my over-site. All good now.
