2020 Cannabis with Meesh

So, I went and got my APAP machine today. I’m supposed to wear it while I watch TV tonight to get used to it. I don’t think it’s gonna be a problem. The thing is only in my nostrils, trying it out with the respiratory people, it just wasn’t a big deal, plus I could fall asleep during a nuclear attack. Really looking forward to feeling better during the day, I know it takes a little bit to notice though. The tiny little mask I have doesn’t feel claustrophobic at all either, it’s barely there. It’s the smallest pillows one. Well so far, we’ll see what the machine says after a few nights. Yes, it has an app that monitors it on my phone too. Modern technology. lol

I sure hope it works for you I remember falling asleep at a stop light .

Well, I won’t need to watch tv with it. Just took an hour nap with it on. Went right to sleep. No problem. May have taken me an extra 2 minutes to acclimate. Getting the humidity perfect is gonna be the biggest challenge I think. I really didn’t even notice it was there.

Man, I wish it was that easy for me to tolerate. They gave me a CPAP, and I’ve rarely felt more claustrophobic. They wouldn’t let me adjust the settings, either :rage:

They don’t monitor you for 30 days to see what works best for you? They said they would change things out if I wasn’t comfortable.

Last night was my first night. I settled right in, except when I woke up to pee and the dog woke me, it was more difficult coming back to it. I have to say though, I feel incredibly good and I just woke up. I don’t remember the last time I’ve felt like this.

Maybe you can check with your doctor for a change up on machine type or mask

I should get screened for that. I lost a lot of weight but still wake up tired some days. Glad you already feel better, that’s pretty cool.

2nd day of real sleep. It’s not the most comfortable way to fall asleep. With my machine, the air flow starts pretty light and you have to breathe pretty hard while you are settling in. I have to say though, once I get comfortable and my breathing gets steady, the machine starts pumping a higher air flow through and I can remember feeling super relaxed and good right before I drift off. Since you are forced to focus on breathing deeply, it actually helps me fall asleep once I forget about the mask. It’s weird, but whatever.

All I know is I’m bright and perky at 8 am on my day off and I feel fucking great! You don’t realize the depths of shit you live with as normal until suddenly it’s gone. I had no idea this is how normal people feel during the day. I realize now that I’ve literally been a zombie for 20 years and now I’m alive. I’m geeky as hell happy about it, cuz I feel fucking great! Comfortable or uncomfortable I’ll deal with some slight discomfort falling asleep if I’m gonna wake up like this everyday. This is life changing for me. Epic difference in the quality of my life

was the same way when i started using my c pap. hated the thing and still do as i have to use the full mask and even then i get leaks. but it was a game changer. i was falling asleep everywhere, including driving. couldn’t get thru half a day without taking an nap and by 3pm. was dead again. felt horrible all the time. now i sleep so hard i don’t even wake to piss most nights. i feel alive and productive again. should have got this many years ago but I’m claustrophobic so i kept putting it off…

Honest to dog, I realize now that I was chronically ill for 2 decades and suddenly I am cured. I had no idea that normal felt so freaking good. I can’t stop talking about it right now, seriously, its fkn amazing! I just don’t care that I have to deal with the machine discomfort, its worth it. And yes… it’s like suddenly being alive after years of being a zombie. I don’t even NEED a pot of coffee for pure survival anymore. One cup is purely for my own enjoyment the last 2 days.

I’m glad that worked out so well for you. :+1: :sunglasses: :diving_mask:

Over the years I’ve heard that exact same story 4 times (my wife and her siblings).
Yeah, the masks can be a PITA until you figure out what works best for you. But they make a game changing difference.

Wow…what’s getting tested like? You have to sleep somewhere with a camera on you? Does your doctor do it or a sleep place? I know nothing about it except basics.

it’s great to hear. the coffee-pot & other magic :pill: stuff may be altogether complicating things too. my neighbor was up to over a dozen prescriptions, reconsidered & cut down to 2-3 more necessary ones, magically lost 60lbs & felt better… :man_shrugging: at age 80-something.

:gift: harmony & balance :yin_yang: for @Meesh :+1:

I had to say goodbye to caffeine; it f’s me up. can’t imagine what street powders would do to me…prob spontaneous combustion…

Another strange thing is that the last 2 nights, I actually get sleepy at bedtime. Before, I would stay up till all hours because I never got a physical clue that it was time to sleep. Meaning I was always exhausted so I had no distinctive reference between being awake and being exhausted. I realize now that their was never any awake. There was only exhausted and caffeinated or exhausted, no rested and awake.

That doesn’t surprise me. I have been actually super emotional about it. The joy is actually really overwhelming as I was cured of a 20 year old illness literally over night. It’s been a soul experience. Truly life changing.

Yes. Usually, but with Covid they are only doing home/self tests. They mailed me this little box that I strapped to my chest. It had a pulse ox thing that you attached to your finger and a little tube you put over your head and in your nose to record your breathing. You just sleep with it on 1 night and mail it back the next day. It is not as accurate as the in house sleep test, so they read it on the lower side. It is possible that my breathing stops more often than the test says. In my case, said I stopped breathing every 5 minutes. Apparently, normal people can stop breathing up to 5 times an hour without it being considered obstructed. Weird right?

@cannabissequoia the caffeine had nothing to do with my apnea, it was just what I used to self medicate for a billion years. I don’t actually “NEED” it now, except to stave off the now caffeine headaches from withdrawal. I can slowly cut back now as I only need it for my own enjoyment, not to stay awake or make it through the day.

Aww! I miss you all too! Wish it was because I had something fun and exciting going on. It’s simply been work. Nearing year end and my clients start to panic and suddenly their procrastination becomes my emergency. Well according to them. lol Typical year end for an accountant I suppose.

Finally got to spend a few hours digging out about half of one of my flower beds today. Holy shit, did I let it go too long! I was digging out clumps of crab grass that had roots like palm trees. I can’t let it go that much next summer. Next to that and the bermuda grass, I’ll probably have to use something nasty in there to kill the grass if I want to save my carnations. My bad.

Besides that, I’m still testing the cured goods. I’ll share some thoughts on them soon.

Are you in Canada?

When you want to go all Conan the Barbarian, this is my favorite for tearing out roots.

Good cardio!
