I’m guessing logistics.
I think a 1000 plant pheno hunt is a bit too much to handle, woud need ALOT of people to that. I can only do between 6 and 12 plants, depending on strain.
Plus trying to get that many people to all sync up correctly would be damn near impossible…
Maybe 5 to 10 people pop 10 beans each, 12/12 from seed, take cuts, keep best cuts to share, if anything is found worth keeping
Then send a few people the male and female clones to pair up. That way, we’re not sending a shit load of clones everywhere, and who ever has the perferred clones doesn’t end up having to make a fuck tonne of clones.
But if someone wants a certain cut, they can get it.
Or we could pass them around and take turns…
Just spit balling here, tossing out some ideas.

Everyone has their own schedule and if you are sifting through 30 plants, as part of a larger group, that’s a serious commitment.
Also I hadn’t worked through the processes yet (pollen collecting and preservation, selective breeding, cloning etc.) so I had personal doubts but not anymore…
What the project is and what the goals are is a ‘blank slate’ it’s up to anyone that wants to participate.
I’d suggest something simple as a ‘shake-out’, that’s basically to spot what needs to be improved.

That’s the way to do it, ‘spark a bowl’ of your favorite and let your brain run over the ideas and see what new pops into your head. and throw it out there.
Positive vibes only no critical attacks, well, not yet… that comes later in the review process.

Once you get a bunch of ideas together do a critical review of them and go for what makes the most sense.
State the objectives clearly
You need to consider ‘what if’ scenarios to minimize damage to the plan (and discouraging folks)

Well my thoughts are,
First we need to find at least 5 participants, probably no more than 10, to keep logistics and and varibles down to a minimum.
1 person has to start it off buy doing the initial seed run.
Then distributing the seeds to the group.
Then everyone would pop preferably 10 seeds (more if ya want and/or have room for)
Everyone documents there grow, wether it be this thread or each their own thread.
I’m kinda leaning towards each their own thread, that way it’s much easier to keep focused on what each of us find, rather than having it all jumbled up in one thread.
Collectively collect pollen from a few chosen stud males, take cuttings or both (which ever is easier for the person/group)
Now here’s where it gets a bit tricky, because we don’t have the same schedules.
So after the initial “1st grow” we’ll call it…
Everyone has popped their initial 10+ beans and got a bit of experience with the strain, collected pollen from chosen males, ship said pollen (or clones) to each member of the group, (which I think pollen is the way to go, if possible, othrs may not have room to keep clones) we either keep our own best females around to hit a few branches of each male pollen, or decide on best females and those people have to make clones and ship them off.
Now remember…not everyone’s schedule is the same, and shit changes all the time, so I think it would be easier to just ship the pollen to everyone, and they can hit their best find at their leisure.
Or we could decide on which couple stand out moms to hit, and those people either hit them with the pollen, or they send clones to others if they need a bud run or something.
Then we could just take turns going through a hunt, depending on each others schedules.
Like I was saying at the sart, I can dedicate 1 cycle a year to this, so if everyone takes a turn that would be fantastic, if ya wanna do more than one, even better.
My objective would be just to have fun searching and see what we can find.

What would the initial run be? Are we talking crossing 2 ibl to start fresh with a new f1 or are we thinking a mish mash that gets hunted? I got a bunch of ibls, maybe every one figure out what they have to offer and the group decide which way to go. Or maybe buy something? I’m just throwing ideas.

I’m fine with whatever anyone wants to do.
I just threw up the idea of Chitral Kush to get the ball rolling, it’s a landrace, and theres some gems to be found in there for sure.
But I’m down for whatever anyone wants to run as long as it’s not more than 12 weeks, as that would hinder my schedules

I was thinking we all just pick the 1 strain and see what we can find in it, for a couple rounds or until we find something really good, if we wanna take it that far.
Or we could do preservation runs for a bunch, up to you all… I’m down for whatever.
Put up a poll or 2 and see what everyone would like to do.

Those ones that I picked out of your list, the Kailash, Balkh and Kashimir are my favorite I’d vote for outta that list. I wasn’t meaning to cross them, if that’s what you thought I ment.
But…I mean if that’s something people wanna do, I’m cool with that, like I said I’m down for whatever, just wanna do something a bit different than just growing bud.

Any thoughts on longer flowering times vs shorter?
You could easily skip the 1st step (generating a mess of beans) if we look at what’s in the Fall Box and find something interesting to work with.
