Like childhood pictures, you’re obigated to take them, but they’re boring.
Seedlings got documentation mug shots but not sharing them here.
Dropped 4 beans of S1 S1 – this was the shorter mother – also designated as blush pheno
At day 6 you can see a purplish blush on the underside of the first two true leaves
One plant showed this trait, the other didn’t… So know it is genetically passed along…
WTF does it mean? Who knows! But it’s what to look for on this strain.
Only a 50% germination rate – something to be watched but not concerned too much.
T3 – this was one of the taller (if not tallest) in the breed room.
Had 100% germination on these 24 hours after soak – strong and ready
(actual germination, nubbin, took 24 hour from first to last showing)
Looking at leaf formations there might be two different types in T3 also, one with narrower leaves possibly.
Within the next week they all go in to forced sex schedule.
Only want a pair – out of 6
Extras (up to 3) can go into 1 gallon and still fit the box or become mini mothers until next round.
Am trying recyclish soil sort of thing. Previous 2-3 inches of bottom of container with drainage rocks left as undisturbed as possible. Added a layer of fresh soil topdressed with kelp, neem,
humus, biochar and other goodies mixed by hand. Repeated with a CalMag dry suppliment added.
Put a tub in the center to accept the transplant. Until then planted the cilantro cover crop around the center void and it will have a couple weeks head start.
Cilantro Planting:
Take 1/8 and 1/4 tsp measuring spoons
Place 5 or 6 corriander seeds into the larger spoon
Place smaller spoon on top and crush lightly to break the segments apart
Sprinkle into prepared planting area
Tried crushing them with my fingers and wasn’t getting good separation, the gap in the spoons is just large enough.
Harvest recap also posted, 14 plants and not even close to a Unit total weight…
Now I know what I need, what they need, and ready to start the new year…
My tags are way out in left field as I’m not trying to draw traffic, subs, or whatever
analytics YT likes to apply to it’s social disease…
The recommendations I get are 90% garbage (and I mark them as such) or things
I’ve already watched that it forgets to apply to the filtering.
For the box, the first testers are at day 10, second set at day 7.
Two possible males so far, no females showing yet.
Have turned off the EB 4000K strips - 4 Vero 18s is enough to bloom in a pinch
and they have responded as expected and getting both upward and outward
progress. Once they sex they’ll get the 3000K & 3500K until week 2 of flip
then will start adding the EB strips back on to control stretch.
The bloomer in box is at day 56 (8 week) and is cloudy when I scoped it
a few ambers, and ready whenever the little ones can be flipped to Veg.
5H Club • Winter Balls With Too Many Prince Charmings
Set 1 – out of 4 seeds 2 germinated 50% - of the 2 plants 50/50 m/f – one keeper to run
Set 2 – out of 4 seeds 4 germinated 100% - of the 4 plants 75/25 m/f – one keeper to run
Each female was the first to break ground in their group.
The four plants culled went into FPJ – whole plant except roots
The roots of the 4 culls and the recently harvested plant are drying to add to the OHN style jar
While cutting them down, number 4 had an odd mutation not seen in this strain before…
It had an extra leaf on the underside, jutting off at an odd angle, will future plants exhibit this?
Transplanting and topping tonight, the first container has a cover crop coming in, the second just got filled with soil and layered amendments today and the cover crop is still germinating.
Since the second set was 3 days behind in breaking soil, it will go into the second one.
First week under the veg light schedule. The cat grass took off under the lights.
Was 2 or 3 inches over the top of the plant so got clipped (it likes that) down to
the under canopy position it should maintain.
This shot is 3 days later and the other cover crop is starting to make itself noticed.
The RED strain is about 4 days behind but expect it to pass the other when it hits it’s stride.
Gathered up a bud from each of the harvested plants, most
jars down to the last 2 or 3 buds. As GreenGenes observed
we consume the lower grade first and miss the main colas
at their peak.
The pair have recovered (and still throwing off pistils) and been topped
a final time. They are approaching the netting level and will get a few
more weeks to see how they fill it out.
Won some seeds and they arrived… dropped a pair in celebration…
Janis Joplin (Neil Cassidy x Jazz Queen) or as close as 60’s memory can get…
very small sized seeds, nice patterning on shell, something new…
As much as I detest seed/seedling photos, these showed crack in 12 hours and
this is at 24 hours. They went into cups of soil and into the sprouting area.
The two testers are at week 3 from their first topping and transplant.
The grid positioning is about right and time to spread them sideways.
Turned the EB strips back on, it a whole new level of light inside with them running.
Temps run about 5 degrees higher with them running. The two missing ones have
been used for demo purposes and will end up in the veg section for the next ones.
Wasn’t getting the positioning wanted from the trellis. The growth was there,
but all bunched, up couldn’t tell what was happening. Broke out the wire and
gave them all a cleaning to the growth tips. Now I’ve got things in place to
give them a week or so to turn upward before flipping.
The trunks and arms are beefy (should have been more horizontal from the start).
Keep whacking back the undergrowth, the grass bounces right back, but the cilantro just
never really took off.
The other new Joplin pair coming along and responded quick to the tub transplant.
These only have the cat grass sprinkled on top and few were taller than the plants.
Don’t think they have deep roots yet so it’s the Joplin pushing roots out the bottom already.
Plants entering their last week of veg, have had 5 weeks since first topping.
They will be flipped at Blue Moon/Full Moon next week.
At 14 days the two Joplins are within standard variation norms.
Blue is an inch taller, and 1/2 inch more in width of largest leaves.
*edit Forgot to mention dropped two Tahoe OG as backup for male/cull spot.
Oh Lord, won’t you show me, how to grow medical weed My friends all squish rosin, but that not what I need Dispensary went rec, sold out for corporate greed Oh Lord, won’t you grow me, some Cup winning weed…
Janis 2018
5H Club • Super Bloody Blue Eclipse (Astral Alignment)
The veg pair seem to be a bit happier, have had 6 weeks since first topping.
All the little ends are pointing and timer has been set to 12/12 after this dark cycle.
Need to start training earlier, next run will go back to the baskets and
clone cycle for more smaller plants in a staggered flower cycle that keeps the box full.
I’ve whacked this cilantro down to 1 inch at least 3 times and it still comes back.
It finally decided to flower (box on veg cycle) so will leave it a while longer.
Dropped a pair of Tahoe and they took right off… The big Red is 48 hours older
than the other (above soil older as they both showed nubbin same time), just
in case the Janis don’t continue.
