A Shadey spot to grow, Perpetual organic no till

Hi man, thanks for dropping in and comenting. My. RH is around 45% lights on and atm 65% to 75% lights off it’s a catch 22 situation, I am thinking raising the heat by adding the HPS to the LEDs, I can have the extraction fan running, as the temps will go up past 80f, which will put the humidity outside the workshop, instead of letting it build up outside the grow room but inside the workshop and freezing. It should at least reduce the amount of moisture forming in the workshop hopefully.

Once I know how much extra heat the HPS light gives me I can adjust the night time heat with the heater to keep the RH within a good balance.

I was looking into those predator mites…each variety tolerates humidity levels differently. IIRC only a couple varieties tolerated humidity that low. Will be interested in seeing the outcome. Whose bugs did you buy?

They are from NIC in Ontario, Neoseiulus Califonicus, they will operate in a variety of temps and humidity unlike a lot of them that need higher humidity, They wont go into webs but these out breaks never get big enough to produce webs unlike the first time. On sale atm $31 and $30 shipping for 2,000 of them, they eat the eggs as well as larvae and adults so this should be all that I need to kill them off.

Weedly Update.

Couple of really cold nights and days here atm, so temps were on the low side the last couple of days, so I installed the 600W HPS after taking pics. The heater was running with the LEDs on so I may as well get some extra light with my heat. Might get a bit of fox tailing changing it now after 5 weeks for the first 4 in fingers crossed they dont get affected.

In the Seedling cab things going OK I topped the 2 biggest BBNK on the right side, as they are stretching a bit. The others doing well and the sun flowers on the left side are taking off  Starting to think whether I should be getting ready to germinate some plants for friends wanting to grow outside this year. maybe next month ready to go out in the beginning of June.

In the Veg Tent.

The OH are growing fast and after taking the weekly pics I moved them into the flower room. They looked like they had some K deficiency starting a couple of weeks ago, so I gave them some sulpomag and that seems to have solved the problem. They got a tablespoon of gaia green 2.7.5 today to help them through the stretch and ready for flowering. These OH and OH X PAC are really doing much better than all the others and these 4 pots are the ones with a lot of worms in, and a 1-2 inches of EWC on top.

Then we have the 3 Sebs Rev in a line and the Ogers female front right which is really taking off now, the two OH boys, back right, are still suffering I think I need to up pot them, and will do that today.

In the Flower Room.
I will have to tweak the temp and RH settings now the 600W HPS light is in there, I just have to remember to keep checking. The predator mites should be arriving next Thursday I think and I will have a bit of a leaf trimming session before I release them to speed up their search for food.

The 2 OHXPAC are developing nicely on week 2 from flip.

Tall Ogers, starting to frost up, no purple on this one week 5 from flip.

Short Ogers has some purple starting on the leaves though week 5 from flip.

The tall skinny SDXSL spare doing well so far I may give her some more Gaia green this week to keep her going. I think she is week 3 from flip.

The 2 burned up SDXSL I am going to strip those damaged leaves off before the predator mites go on them.

Cheers for looking.

Did you determine which type of mites you are battling? We have russetts at work, they’re the worst. It’s a struggle for sure bro.

They are 2 spotted mites that I have, only seeing them on a couple of plants ATM so I will be putting the predator mites on those plants mostly and some in the veg tent.

The predator mites will stay on the plants so come harvest time I think I may trim my leaves in the flower room and put them in the veg plants pots to hopefully keep them active, and also add them to the new plants going into the veg tent in 4 or 5 more weeks, when I have freed up some pots from harvesting.

Snowing hard outside ATM and very windy, not looking forward to going out to clear the drive before it changes over to raining in about 4 hours, although I am glad it’s changing to rain, it would be 4-5 foot of snow instead of 10 inches if it doesn’t.

Do you have a scope? If the predator mites run out of food, they will die pretty fast I believe. I think they also eat eggs.

Yeah I have a scope, yep these predator mites eat all stages of spotted mites. I just want to keep them going as long as possible incase of any infiltrating from somewhere outside the veg tent as that is where they always seem to appear first.

The snow was deep 14 inches wet and heavy as well. I am hurting now, so going to dose up on the CBD oil and then a couple of hits of caramel candy kush and maybe a micro dose of shroom brownie, it tastes so good, it’s a dangerous combination

Good luck man. I’ll be watching.

Predator mites arrived this morning and have been deployed, only saw one when I tipped the vermiculite into a bowl to warm up, hopefully the other 1999 will wake up shortly lol. Pushed all the plants closer together so leaves are touching, hoping they will migrate from plant to plant.

I sure hope the eradicate those little bastards for you my friend.

Yeap, that story is lasting too long , hope this will be the ultimate and definitive battle … avatar38|nullxnull

Cheers guys, so long as there were 2000 predator mites in the container I think there is a good chance of success.

Although I watched a couple of YouTube vids, and the predator mites shown seemed more interested in shagging each other than eating the enemy lol. I guess more hungry mouths the better in the long run :slightly_smiling_face:

Shagging, I love the verbiage.

“yeah baby, yeah!”

Weedly Update.

In the Seedling Cab.

The DBHP are all in 1 liter pots now as well as the last BBNK. The 2 sunflowers at the back are keeping pace still in the party cups they dont seem to be as hungry as the weed plants.

2 on the right and back left are the BBNK they both got topped again, as I missed doing it properly the first time. I might stake their tops down as well to get some lower branching started and thicken up the stems.

In the Veg Tent.

The 3 Sebs Rev looking nice and healthy, they are growing to fast, so I may have to bend them about a bit as I have about 3-4 weeks before I have any free space in the Flower room. Ignore the vermiculite on the leaves, that’s what the predator mites came in.

The front and back right OH boys getting some nice green tops back on them now they have been up potted, once they are back to full vigour I am going to flip them and try and make some OGERs x OH seeds.

The Ogers girl front left going well now going to train her up a bit before flipping.

The sunflower is really starting to take off as well, I cant find any info on what triggers a sunflower into flowering, most of the sites just say they start in August through September after a couple of months of growing. I an going to try and get the stem in a cork screw shape to keep the height down lol.

In the Flower Room.

The HPS light is back making everything look yellow and pale.but at least the heat is up in the high 70’s constantly, which means more watering.

The OH X PAC 3 weeks from flip now, buds are developing well, these were the ones I found mites on so they got a good covering with the vermiculite on the leaves and I made some paper pouched to put some in and tapped the lowest branch so they can work up as well as down to stop any 2 spotted mites escaping lol.

The 2 OH there first week from flip, and are directly under the HPS light if you couldn’t tell lol.

The 2 Ogers starting to bulk up now 6 weeks from flip.

Close up of the smaller Ogers at the back.

Close up Taller Ogers at the front.

The 2 sad looking SDXSL plus the tall skinny one in the little pot to the left, which I am managing to keep looking good atm

Cheers for looking.

Sitting here looking out the window, trying to summon the enthusiasm and energy to clear 3ft of snow off my drive

At least the power didn’t go out :slightly_smiling_face:

Gave the Sebs Rev a bit of limb cracking yesterday one limb got a bit too much and had to be taped up :frowning:

Just went in the Flower Room to water the plants and what did I find. A very naughty Oregon Huckleberry boy had sneaked into the hareem. Don’t know how I missed that one, but I struggled with these showing sex until quite late, great structure nice and bushy, what a waste of electric, too big to put into the breeding cab, so I chopped it and its in the worm bin. 3 out of 4 seeds are boys if the other 2 are correct.

Weedly update.

In the seedling Cab all the BBNK have been topped and the tops staked down. The larger DBHP have had the same treatment. The 2 sunflowers seem to have slowed probably because they are still in party cups.

In the Veg Tent.

The Sun Flower is starting to make a bud

The Ogers girl and her OH boyfriends are doing good I may stick them in the breeding cab soon, I just need a heat controller for the cabinet

Group shot with the Sebs Rev, one will be going into the flower room today to replace the OH that was mistaken for a girl :frowning:

In the Flower Room.

The 2 OHXPAC doing well buds are swelling nicely, they have a very sweet fruity yummy smell 4 weeks from flip now.
They have got more mite activity when I looked yesterday, I removed all the heavily damaged leaves and inspected them under the scope. I couldn’t see one predator mite anywhere, just 2 spotted and their eggs.

These predator mites were on sale, I am beginning to wonder if they were on sale because their sell by date was approaching fast, I did not see much activity when I warmed them up in the washing up bowl like I did with the ones I used to kill off the fungus gnat problem. I am thinking I got ripped off :frowning:

The only OH girl, I am going to have to try and make some more, budding up now at week 2.

Small Oger at the back bud shot, they are really solid buds at 7 weeks now.

Larger Ogers at the front at 7 weeks.

Front SDXSL still not doing well at 7 weeks.

SDXSL at the back doing better but not much at 7 weeks.

The Spare SDXSL doing much better at 4 weeks.

Cheers for looking.

You ought to contact the company and tell them they were dead when you received them. They should make it right.

Yeah I thought about it, can’t be bothered really, I just won’t use there services ever again.

The wife and I are going to Kelowna BC, at the beginning of June, covid regulations willing, to see our daughter and celebrate her graduation from University. We are driving as our doggy is old and can’t fly, so it’s a week driving there and a week driving back 5500 k or 3300 miles, and we want to stay a minimum of 2 weeks more if the wife can get the extra time off work. Hoping to stay out there for 4 weeks.

It’s just the dragons blood hash plants that are going to be close to not being ready when we leave, so I might have to leave them outside to fend for themselves until we get back. I can get my nephew to check on them and chop them when done.

So the grow rooms will be empty of everything and I am going to try the no pest strips again when we leave, and when we get back, whack the heat up and do a sulphur burn and bleach wash everything again. Then after a couple of months, do a couple of plants as a test and see what happens.

If they come back, I will probably stop growing until we move sometime in 2022 I don’t need to grow anything really, I have enough weed to last me a couple of years atm.
