There are so many other opportunities to talk politics, in fact we are inundated with it, I appreciate the fact OG is mostly free of it. Glad the rule is there. Facebook, Reddit and countless other places are there for that purpose and encourage it. Especially as a non American, I get tired of US politics and don’t want to read about it when I come to OG.
I also get slightly annoyed when I have to scroll through pages unrelated of banter between two people to get the the meat of the thread I’m looking at. I wish those gregarious folk would spend more time in the chat threads which were made for that sort of thing.
Well here is my take on this…
I personally hate talking about politics.
But today every fuckin thing has become political.
We can not discuss human health and proper nutrition even that has been considered political.
I could go on…
Everything can be seen as political or polarizing.
Everything…even cannabis.
I had a thread about how Cannabis has been found to work well as an anti-viral.
It was deleted because some people did not agree.
They did not agree with real medical science, I even posted links to the science papers.
Some folks were apparently polarized by truth and real science with real legitimate references.
So to summarize here.
This is where I take issue with censorship.
If not everyone agrees with the topic, suddenly it becomes political and polarizing and gets deleted.
The info I posted had the ability to save someone’s life, or even many lives.
Not a chance of that now, it was deleted.
It is possible someone could die in the future, which could have been saved if they only had read the proper info.
I am sure there are some out there that find this post polarizing.

I too feel we could do with less of this.
I would not mind if off topic posts were deleted one bit.
It just makes for a hard to read thread and even harder to get to the needed info.
This kind of censorship I am not against.
I even came up with a solution for this.
I call it Take it outside.
This would leave a little tab on the thread where it says conversation taken outside, you could click on it to read it if you want but all off topic posts would not be visible unless you click on the side bar tab.
I feel it is an effective solution without censorship.
I thought that keeping off-topic posts out of the thread was the purpose of moderators on a forum.
To keep the threads clean of needless, unrelated, off topic chat.

I know Hemp. I used your post as an example of something I thought was funny. I see irony in the fact that even though it was withdrawn, and I can’t see it, I can flag it.
If everyone just kept they’re mouth shut and followed the herd to slaughter this world would be just the way THEY like it.
If it wasn’t for facetiousness and sarcasm I would never have anything to say.
