Try Doc’s Mexican Melon (MDS x Dragon Energy). They’ll still get a little tall, but nothing too crazy. Finish around week twelve. I loved the two I grew last round. I had to chop mine early because of aphids, but the smoke is still excellent. Pretty much all I’ve been smoking for the last four months, even though I have like twenty different strains in jars.
I’ll put them on my list of strains to buy even though I have way too many
Have had my eye on Doc D’s stuff lately, but have been more an in indica / daytime indica mood… must be winter.
Hahahah. Awesome. I was checking in and gonna see if the wiki was up yet, but, guess I’ll just ask.
Looks like you have a bit of work left over there. Wish I could lend a hand!
Edit. Any interest in some Swazi gold beans?
Learned a lot here, thanks and nice work!
Pretty dang stable regardless…I’d happily grow and smoke his offspring, and down the road some of his progeny will be completely stable. Good work!
Sounds like you’ll have enough to put in your cereal in the morning if you want to lol!
Whose Swazi is it? Did you pass out seeds of a wide leaf pheno by chance? Someone sent me some and damn if i can remember who it was. I’d like to thank them.
Interest? Of course! But my hands are already full with the next project. I’d feel like an ass for just letting yours waste away in the fridge
They wouldn’t be wasting away! They would be just chillin’ out, and waiting patiently for your caring hands to bring out their very best when the time is right!
Greetings @lambchopedd,
I have the fondest memory of the original AG from when it hit SoCal back in the day. It was the first weed we’d seen that was really Something Special!
I’m looking for a sativa that I can grow using an indoor HST technique intended for high yield. Pretty much everything that AG typically wouldn’t like! It would be a fun challenge and provide some interesting info for AG aficionados.
Please add me to the list if possible.
Regards,
-Grouchy
PS, my growroom is currently in re-model mode so it won’t be till spring that I’m back on the job. That said, any seeds I receive won’t end up in a trophy case.
Can I just say Dibs.
I did make some more of those wide leaf! Glad you got some. I sent out some fat packs.
Came from this pack.
Let me know if you need anymore @Upstate.
Like @Pigeonman said, they’d just be chilling. And as the old adage goes, don’t keep all your eggs in one basket. Something could happen to me, or my power goes out or something and my stash of them might go by the wayside, so if I send more out they’ll live on!
Send me some details and I’ll send some your way!
Excited for those AG beans too!
I don’t know why, but I really love that packaging! No wild cartoons, and the handwritten strain make me think “Oh, I should take this seriously.”
This thread is literally filling 2 full pages in my notebook so far; thanks to everybody who is contributing such great info and wisdom here!
I think a good amount of my future time in the tents will be spent on landrace/heirloom work/education.
Is that for me to? /
I didn’t send you any? Of course good buddy! Gotta start sending smaller packs now though as the supply is getting lesser. I’ll definitely have at least 10 on the way though. Just shoot me some details @Pigeonman !
I’m (Slightly) tipsy, so bear with me when I say this:
There were some guys on Reddit talking some time ago, about seeds being ready at five weeks… Yeah I’m just not seeing that. I pulled one AG at 5wks, because beans were popping out the bract, and yeah suuurrrreeeee… they were grey/brown and many passed the ”squeeze test”, but I’m just not satisfied. I know YOU guys probably agree that seeds need 6+ weeks… but in case you don’t — stop harvesting seed crops too early. It aint the end of the world, but I feel like you’re at least grazing yourself in the foot, if not shooting.
Anyways… I’ll do a large-ish germ test on these B-grade seeds. In the mean time, I’ll keep the other AGs going to ensure seed-ripeness.
That’s my drunk rant for the night. Ignore me (please)
Edit:
I’m not trying to come at anybody. I just don’t think Pulling at five weeks is good advice.
That 6 weeks thing is ‘a one size fits all’ compromise.
The old rule was pollinate at three weeks of flower and seeds need a minimum of 6 weeks after that. Then add some variations for growing environment and strain for fine tuning. Room to optimize but a good starting point.
Cheers
G
Personally, i let seeds go 8 weeks.
That’s safer, especially with the slower sativa hybrids.
Who knows with the long flower equatorial types though?
I’d guess they might be longer…
Cheers
G
Glad to see this something like this throwback to the days before the world was taken over by cookies. Would absolutely be interested in running this if you have enough to share.
