Actually lightproof plastic?

I’m not sure if they carry the canvas type Mylar in rolls or not Beacher, that would be cool to line the box with some of that. I thought about just using the material from the amazon tent (discarding the frame)and cut it to fit any box I build. Could screw it up or pin it up with some nails and tape the joints lol while smoking some of them too lol I prefer a sturdier box, but this one fits my needs atm.

Cheap black and white layered twice with aluminium tape.

Ah I guess there’s some ultra thick stuff I haven’t seen before then!

Looks like I’ll either stick with a double layer because I have so much anyways or order that mylar when it’s back in stock (next week).

Will update as to what works!

I made a clone tent from panda plastic, it worked ok for a year, and then I made one from plywood. Biggest issue for me was the zero insulation properties, which meant from November to June I had to run a small heater in it pretty much constantly, not so much in the day using LEDs, but at night. You also have nothing to screw into to hang anything or easily fix to. Other than that it was cheap to make, and fairly functional.

Ya my current box is plywood which is nice but was a pain to make and still needed tweaking to be lightproof/airproof. If I go with plastic I’ll build lots of strategic framing in for hanging fans etc, just have to try and be smart with my planning beforehand!

ive used the same material for a custom tent, i think its much better than the orca film, which ive used in the past. but the plastic developes pin holes over time, the blackout canvas is beefy. you wont be disappointed

Great price, that’s for sure. It’s hard to say if it would be good to work with from the pic. It’s for waxing?? WTF lol

@Doulovebeef that’s good to know before I drop a couple hundred bucks on it, sweet!

mylar is hard to get wrinkles out of, and a small nic in the materal can be catastrophic

Thick panda film works great at keeping light on one side but I have always not trusted it being taped around any sort of HPS bulbs. It may cost more but the plywood and white paint option is much safer.

My cabinet is white , my tents come with the Mylar so no way around it, but I prefer the white.

i saw the aftermath of a open 1000w hps bulb hit with water from a broken water emitter. the room was lined in plastic film. had it not been a sealed co2 filled room at the time, im sure the whole house would have been a loss.

sometimes its better to be lucky than good…

Good point. If I do with go with plastic/canvas it will still have a solid wood skeleton with everything stapled/taped. Similar to one of those premade jobbies.

Have you considered blackout fabric (liner) for drapes? Comes in various colours.

Another option is hardboard. No easier to work with than plywood, but it’s cheaper than plywood and comes in white.

Hardboard? As in that ‘hardibacker’ concrete drywall stuff? I’m probably thinking of something else haha

Edit: looked it up, it’s like MDF, got it. That looks really good, and it would be actually straight vs the badly warped plywood I got last time!
