Nice plants!
Ya when I visitted friends to grab the cuts she found that pic on one of her old memory cards so i got her to send it to my phone. I used to have it on one of my devices but don’t know which one. That’s back when I lived down on the coast and could put plants right in the ground full season.
well… I suck at cloning in general but I’m happy to say I’m finding roots here and there.
So far I’ve got 4 rooted Long Valley Royal but will only keep 2 I think. At least now I can use the frosty male pollen and make another Fgen. This female is killer smoke so I’m pleased it was a fast rooter. So far a couple pinks, a couple oreoz, the lvrk and 1 ogkb 2.0. I am beyond happy to see the rooted 2.0 as I lost my mother after raping her for clones. Looks like i might get another couple to root but I really only need one right now for a new mother.
So things are looking up. Just need those mk ultras to root though they don’t look so good. The mother at my friend’s place might be ready to take more cuts from soon so I will try again. LOL
been a busy morning over here
The gal caring for my moms brought me more snips this morning and I wasted no time getting them into rooting media. Last lot of cuttings I put into sunshine mix like i usually do… this time I went with rockwool cubes as I found some in the grow cupboard and figured why not. I also quit being lazy and set things up properly.
So I broke out the heating mat and an inkbird controller and this time I am going to keep the tray at 80F. I should have done that before but I got lazy, there’s no other excuse LOL
Despite my unhappiness with the first batch of clones , there are several rooted and I saved that ogkb 2.0 , the long valley royals are vigorous rooters so all 5 rooted but they are slow to green back up. No survivors for the MK ultra and the one GSC that rooted looks like crap LOL
So I have fresh ones in the rockwool of Pink, GSC, MK Ultra and I took cuttings off some of the bud run plants … both Chimera Junkies and GG4 S1 so far. I am going to try and take a couple cuttings from Sherbiker bubble, NYCD x OG Kush and one head of the two headed Grape Rock Candy.
Now about that Grape Rock Candy from Newbie Nuggs. First, I had never heard of Newbie Nuggs before they became part of the family of breeders at @Great_lakes_Genetics . I just wanted some grape strains and it sounded like it was worth trying for the price. Well so far , while a bit slow to veg , they are really nice plants. The noteworthy thing is the level of visible trichomes covering the vegging leaves. I wish I was a better photographer with a better camera because it is really pronounced. I can’t say I have seen plants in veg express that much trichome coverage or development while on 24hr light cycle in the 5th week of veg. It will be interesting to see how these three ladies develop and if the Grape comes thru as the name suggests. The two headed female is the frosties by far but her sisters are also expressing this trait but to a lesser degree. Anyhow, I’m going to take the entire side of the two headed female and get it in the clone tray asap.
Today I have to go rake and turn 400 or so gallons of soil that I am applying Diatomaceous earth to while it sits waiting for reammending this coming weekend. Lots of ants and things around here and this will prevent them from trying to build homes in my soil piles.
Then when that is done I will be mixing up the big sprayer and spraying down the entire greenhouse and area with Sulphur spray.
I’ve been pondering how to go about this season’s adventures with autoflowers. I am having some trouble deciding on building two beds in the greenhouse, each 2ft wide, 2ft high and the entire 24ft length of the greenhouse. Problem is the seeds are mostly regulars and I’m not sure how this will work out. If I grow them out in #7 pots, at least I can easily cull males and rearrange plant spacing accordingly. In the beds I would have empty spots once males were pulled which is not ideal. I need to maximized greenhouse space so I am more and more leaning to the #7 pots which I have lots of.
Guess we will see how this plays out hehe
You mentioned looking for grape. Antenna Seeds Grape Lazerlite. Mine were outside and molded. Before that the terps were gnarly! Just walk by and it stunk like crazy! Smelled like a Grape Jolly Rancher that sat on the dashboard of a car with the windows up. Just gooey, in your face. I was bummed when mold ate my yard.
I’ve actually grown the grape lazerlite… and have a 10 pack of the grape lazerlite 3 on ice.
FabvariousK from Antenna Seeds has gifted me a couple dozen or more of his creations over the years. Purplelazerlite was killer smoke with such a cerebral floaty , big energy high that I had to include it in this bud run. Happy to see 3 of the 6 plants were female.
I am going to have to get the plant stakes and string ready because they are going to blow right up. I can see that the Chimera Junkies, the GG4 S1 and the Sherbiker Bubble are also definately going to to need stakes and string. I would put a net across the canopy but I need access to all the pots so stakes and string it is. When I took cuttings last night I took the tops off the Chimera Junkies. That should control height nicely.
Looking at the footprint… I have these in the 7.5 x 7.5 ft room with a horizontal 1000w HPS with a simple batwing reflector. I am thinking I might put a 400w HPS on either side of the canopy for a total of 1800w but I am going to sit back and do my electrical math and see what kinda numbers all my electrical is crunching down to first.
ah the orange glow of the HPS… LOL makes for shiddy pics but whatever. This pic was actually taken on the 20th.
Hopefully this run works out and they don’t overgrow the space. I usually run 9 plants under the 1000 , vertical with a parabol 4ft reflector so this will be interesting to see how this grow pans out. Even since the picture… a few nights of 12 hour and some of these plants are noticeably bigger every time I go look at them. I moved shorter plants to the middle this morning and I also took the tops of the Chimera Junkie fems as they would be towers if not.
Sherbiker bubble has suddenly shot out some branches too so I expect her to blow up pretty big over the next few weeks.
Fun times
well a week has slid by and these ladies have just exploded over here.
Soon I’ll probably have to ad the 400 w hps lights on each side… I’ll see how it goes.
I could also pull 4 plants out and finish them in the tent under the sf4000 , to make some space in the bigger room if need be.
Well… I am a couple days late for my next seed pop but it’s been a bit busy around here so whatever… couple days off won’t hurt.
I figure with the 12 Friesland Indica IBL and the 20 Coastal Blueberry … If we go with the 50% male/female average to estimate… should get around 15 or 16 females so I need about the same female count from this seed pop which is all autos. If I fall up short I can always subsitute a clone or two to fill a spot. Those plants are getting into the age where I should be able to start seeing signs of sex within a week I’d say.
Still deciding how to go about things this season as far as pots are concerned. I really want to use 10 gallon thick fabric pots in beige color. I have 4 from Vivosun my brother gave me but trying to find more that color has been tough. Amazon has some but a different brand and the measurements seem different. No matter I am aiming for 32 plants and have enough 7gallon pots to cover that number. I also have a dozen or more 15 gallon rubbermaid totes… I got options.
Anyhow… in the germination towels are:
8 x Afterthought Autos Azure Rocket
7 x @Tonygreen 's GG4 RIL Fast Auto F4
6 x @Great_lakes_Genetics /Adam & Eve testers GG4 RIL Fast Auto F5
4 x @Great_lakes_Genetics / Bad Dawg testers Double Sour Diesel x GG4 Auto
So those are all regular autos and the last 2 are feminized
2 x @GCBudz Double Grape Auto
2 x Twenty20 Mendocino Durban Sunrise
And we are off to the races!!!
Were you talking 10s for uour Autos, or for the ones already going? I don’t want to buy new pots for my Autos. I think 7s I have are plenty for me. I might buy a pack of 10s for the yard. Nothing bigger. My back just won’t have it. Neither will the missus.
Ya I was thinking 10’s for everything LOL and no light dep… gonna push the limits and go full season. The Autos should harvest around end of august I am thinking and same with the friesland… or I hope so. The Coastal Blueberries may need heaters to finish… we will see hehe
I think I’ll use my 7s for Autos. I can get fresh 10s pretty cheap and quickly. Also about $75 for soil.
Well after a quick scuff in the seed scuffer and a 48 hour soak in the paper towels, a bunch of these auto beans are poppin
@Tonygreen 's GG4 Fast Auto F4 all 7 of them popped
@Great_lakes_Genetics Adam & Eve GG4 Fast Auto F5 , all 6 of those popped
and also from @Great_lakes_Genetics /Bad Dawg freebies , 4 x Double Sour Diesel x GG4 fast auto.
and the Double Grape Auto fems from @GCBudz … I ended up germinating 3 and all of them popped no problem.
So all those are potted up to Solo cups and I’ll check the paper towels tomorrow and hopefully the Durban Sunrise fems and Azure Rockets are ready for the solo cups too.
My cloning skill are not the best but I did manage to get roots on one Chimera Junky so far (#2) and roots on a couple NYCD x OG kush as well as a GG4 S1. What I really need is those damn GSC and MK Ultra to root. I might have to just keep trying until they take.
anyhow… nuther 9 days and the greenhouse fun begins !!!
well a bit of an update after a rough past couple weeks.
Our dog Lucy passed away in her sleep out on the deck and it was a real shock finding her on my way out to the garden that day. She was in her typical sleeping position so the vet figures she probably had a massive stroke or heart attack. She was only 5 1/2 so it was far too soon.
many people here helped with her vet bills that began last november and we will be eternally grateful for that support from amazing human beings… you all know who you are. She was on medication for life after that infection, what ever it was. Still real fucked up about it and the wife is struggling. The garden has suffered a bit too as I think I forgot to PH a watering the other day and the plants let me know by the next morning… fuk… oh well onward
So I have had mixed results with the autos. The azure rockets look to be a bust. 3 seedlings made it above the dirt and grew the rest kinda popped up and stalled so I ditched them, kept the 3 for now. Lost one Double Grape fem that did the same and one GG4 fast auto F4 failed to launch. Still gives me decent odds for 10 or 12 females from those so will update when I transplant. They don’t look very interesting yet LOL
Lots of rooted clones now in various stages of veg and I finally got the Irene in the garden.
I think the plan will be to run the autos and the Coastal Blueberry females … those turned out 11 females for 20 seeds…
There will be space for 35 #7 pots this year so I figure I will have about 12 spots to fill after the Autos and Coastal BB get transplanted. I’ll fill those spots with mothers from the clone room so i can get them super healthy to clone and make future indoor moms for winter.
Things are shaping up well enough I suppose.
I took some pics of my dirt pile and process.
I am recycling indoor soil which is generally always once used from fresh bales as well as the previous season’s soil that gets dumped in the pile every fall to rest for the off season.
I screen it, pick out anything undesireable and then reammend.
This season I am adding back the following… blindly I might add… no soil tests unfortunately
So … to make a 110 to 120 gallon (approx) about 100 gallons of used screened soil
Water in with about 30 gallons of water from the well and it sits for a couple weeks, stirring once or twice.
The pile in the final pic is one batch of about 120 gallons and this is a mostly water only soil mix based on the OG archives of Tom Hill’s old basic recipe.
Dude, sorry to hear about your pup. That’s brutal. Best wishes and my condolences.
Stoked to see your auto run! I decided to do the same to avoid light dep haha
very sorry to hear about the pup. nothing i say will help but time will. remember the good times and thank her for allowing you to be her leader. rip
to those that helped with the vet bills you are angels.
good luck this summer bud
If I get back to doing more in the yard, I’ll get a small composter. I see them on Craigslist. I saw others do it. For bigger batches, I’ve seen cement mixers rented from Home Depot. If you know someone with a pump rig, or a stucco guy you might be able to barter.
i was planning on buying a cement mixer for projects around here. The big metal ring that lines my fire pit is degrading and rusting away so I was going to make a river stone and concrete fire ring. Was also thinking of some other stone projects around here so rather than rent one a used one will suffice. Might end up with one before the end of summer if I can find a good deal locally.
BIG HUGS TO YOU AND THE MISSUS @SHSC-1 !!
My condolences to you and your family ! it is always hard to loss a loved one
