All herm seed run. Wish me luck!

Lol 2 are showing pistils, 2 not. If they are auto they’re jurassic throwbacks from the era of Wooley mammoth

That would explain the name.

If 2 of them are autoflowering, does that eliminate the possibility of them being photoperiod hybrids? Or would some autos show up in the first generation of this pollination. Forgive my lack of savvy.

That’s an interesting question. The general understanding is that the autoflowering trait is recessive, so an AutoXPhoto cross will produce all photos in the first generation because of how the alleles pair up. Two dominant (photo) alleles will obviously express the photo trait, but so will a pairing of one photo allele and one auto allele because the dominant photo trait will “eclipse” the expression of the recessive auto trait. In the second filial gen from the autoXphoto cross alleles are recombined again, this time giving the auto genes a chance to pair up with each other and express themselves without any of that pesky photo dominance.

Having said that, those general principles wouldn’t explain why half (or any) of a population would express a recessive trait in the first generation. Could be an anomaly of some kind that defies explanation, or there is some intersex in the FS leading to S1’s, and/or the residual fem pollen from the previous grow, and/or male pollen from some kid down the street growing plants in his grandmas backyard (or whatever).

The simplest explanation if they are all fems is either S1 or the possible F1 fem cross, but if a male is in the mix that suggests male pollen. Nothing is absolutely certain, but general truisms at least to my mind lead there.

In the end you’ll certainly get plenty of great weed out of them, which is the priority, but it’s an interesting case study that invites us to think through how this plant works. Fascinating stuff.

forum stomper very sticky auto cookies smell. 4 or 5 months cure. Buds denser than it looks due to a lazy trimming style.

Thank you for your thoughtful response and the education. I’m just starting to wrap my arms around the jargon. S1 f1 etc. It sounds like the main possibility is stray pollen from a previous (months) fem photo run indoors pictured in this thread with a few late nanners.(no seeds) I mean I guess someone could’ve had regs going but it’s super suburbs here with small yards.
Question: how do you tell the difference between preflowers which I understand can appear on an untriggered plant and flowers on a plant that has begun autoflowering?

My understanding is that preflowers on a plant are basically indications of sexual maturity, and under veg light schedules they don’t develop beyond that little “flair”.

I haven’t grown a ton of autos myself, but my sense is that the first to show would probably be roughly the equivalent of a photo’s preflowers, but that they would just keep developing. Someone with more experience with autos can correct me if that’s not right.

And yea, from the puzzle pieces I can gather the fem pollen sounds like it fits. If a male shows up that would be a twist, but occasionally fems do turn out male for reasons that I don’t know, so…the fun continues!

day 39 above soil
smallest plant is 43.5" tall
ive never seen a photo or an auto grow like that before

I would think if your auto was hit by a photo male - it’d be 50% chance of the seeds being autoflowering…

my understanding is that autoflowering is recesssive and therefore there wouldnt be any autos showing up till the second generation if a heterozygous auto was hit with photoperiod pollen. im only regurgitating what i thought ive read tho.

you could be right ;

most auto’s i’ve run that were hit with stray pollen from photos - seeds produced more than their fair share of autos… could be I was just lucky…

Wow!!!

Mephisto Mango Smile will typically get that big, but I’ve grown Forum Stomper several times… and never had them get that big!
I think they are loving the 5 gal containers!

Your yield from these is going to be legendary!!

Nice plants!

@firehead they are beyond my control. Already too big for the tent. They may decide to just veg forever and start charging me rent. I’ve switched to 12/12 to force a flower onset. Maybe they’ll just stretch harder.

That and the reservoir at the bottom. They’re drinking like hydro. 5qts per bucket daily. This has to stop
