Any Earthbox/City Picker thoughts? Please forgive if already covered. Peace

Both types are awesome. I have Earthboxes, Earthbox Jr’s, City Pickers and Little Pickers (Little Picker is just a City Picker sold towards kids and teal colored and cheaper).

They all work awesome if used right.

My biggest complaint about the City Pickers/ Little Pickers is just that the mulch cover they give with it is useless for how I use my covers. It is just some super breathable weed mat. So I just cut a black trash bag in half and hold it on with elastic cord. I run a pretty moist top layer, so this works out much better for me.

Agreed. Used straw mulch under the cover here. Is that a Jr. in the pic? Fits that tent like a glove.

That is one of the Little Pickers in my 32"x32" tent. Same size as the City Pickers, 20x24

Cloner is done! I may or may not have some cuts that have been in hibernating for almost 5 weeks in the fridge, just waiting for a cloner to jump into :sunglasses: Taking a page from ole @Budderton’s book  They looked great 2 days ago so we shall see! :crossed_fingers:

It takes a lot to intrigue me these days when it comes to grow, but I am intrigued. Clones in the fridge for 5 weeks? Tell me more.

Diy work looks great. Aero cloners and Sips a crucial combination.

Yes.

I have been thinking of it as cryostasis.
It seems if you take a cutting:

  • Wrap a half moist half dry paper towel around the bottom
  • Put it in a ziplock bag
  • Put it into a paper bag and into the fridge
It can stay crisp and ready to take out, heat up and put into the cloner for quite a length of time.

I guess the key is just making sure its not too moist. I don’t think this would be possible with rooted clones. Small benefit to not having a root system heh.

Here are some cuttings I threw in the fridge and never looked at for 4 weeks.

The paper towel barely has any moisture left in it. More than pleased with the results and will be putting them in the cloner tomorrow.

Thanks bud. Ya aero cloners are nice to use that’s for sure. Never really used one for myself, only made some 5 gallon bucket ones for a family member but it always worked surprisingly well.

That thing kept my cut alive for a decade though, so glad I had made it for them heh.

Right on @bassman5420 . I’m surprised they didn’t get mushy with that paper towel in there. Good to see that it worked well for you.:v::canada:

Hell yea, the fridge snip tech is pretty nice, I got away with a paper towel on the last ones I did but then Budderton educated me on keeping em dry without for more longevity, but the technique is golden isn’t it?

@Budderton I was just afraid of them getting upset from NO moisture on the base stem, but if I can get away without it then that should instantly get 1-2 more weeks out of it I would say. I did make sure it was not crazy moist, but less moisture would feel safer indeed :+1:

@LegsMahoney Its golden indeed. I was extra down because I had mostly lost all my clones and seedlings during the shit storm, but figured I would give it a go since the Grape Runtz Candy #1 was just flipped to flower and wanted a chance to keep it.
I have a couple of @Pluckyevil’s tops in the fridge as well waiting for the cloner test :metal:

Woke up earlier and filled 10 gallons of water and filled everything up.

Need to moisten and mix up some old raised bed soil with fine perlite in it for a seedling mix, in hopes that the soil I use is not instantly eat up all my new seedlings like the other had been…

Cloner will be getting filled with straight water for the moment, installed into the 2x4 and all the cuttings I have in the fridge will be tossed in to fight for life!

2 days ago I grabbed one of my Geezus clone from a family member and threw it into a Earthbox Jr. This clone will soon go into a little 2x2 tent and will be the first reversal the Geezus has gone through, so pretty stoked about that because it has been waiting for a decade and the stars have just aligned!

Alright its game time. Cryostasis has ended!

Grape Runtz Candy #1 cuts, 30 days of cryostasis.

Also threw in some of @Pluckyevil’s Blue Genius CBD cuttings from the seeds @Bobgrows had sent her.

Weather stripping was added to the lid to stop leakage, so I modified and added some harbor freight quick clamps to keep things tight.

I will be throwing my old humidity dome over the top just to trap some moisture, it needs cleaned first though.

Also mixed in some small/fine perlite to some soil that was at the bottom of the 2x4 bed I had removed. Hoping the lack of life/nutrient and added aeration will allow some seedlings to start living again lol. Never though I would want to bitch about my soil being too lively, but I need my little buddies to stop eating up the damn seeds/seedlings!!!
