I’ve been playing for 3 years and I have only been playing my acoustic guitar which is my Dad’s older Madera made by guild and I was recently gifted with a 2006 Fender Stratocaster American deluxe 60th anniversary edition
and I have an Ibanez SZ solid body 2004 electric guitar and it’s a kickass guitar andTaylors are great friggin guitars. I’ve never played one that didn’t sound absolutely amazing.
Seagull makes a better guitar I’ve owned Taylor’s
And Martin guitars seagulls was my favorite out
Of the bunch
I really like my Ibanez Acoustic. But my friend has a Breedlove thats to die for. It sounds magnificent.
I used to have an Ibanez Talman acoustic/electric that was a pretty decent guitar. Definitely towards the entry level end but it sounded and played pretty decent.
The acoustic I have now is a Breedlove (can never remember the model, Solo Concert I think) and it’s a pretty great guitar. I have nothing bad to say about the Ibanez I had but the Breedlove definitely blows it out of the water (but again an entry level model vs a mid range model so not a big surprise).
I was interested in Seagull but only got to play one once and it was a complete dead fish. Could have been just cause cause it was a floor model and took some abuse but there was zero projection with it, couldn’t even hear myself playing it above people in the vicinity. I played it ready to buy a guitar and walked out with the Breedlove instead.
I had the Artist CW Mosaic and the Seagull Entourage Rustic
Traded handpans for them lol then got bored and sold them lol
But I have say they were beautiful guitars, nice thing about making handpans you can trade all sorts of stuff for them
Those handpans are pretty cool. I only became aware of them in the last few years but I’ve seen some videos where people were playing some beautiful stuff on them.
They come in all different scales,I like pygmy scales and Celtic minor scales
I didn’t realize that but it would make sense. Different tones from different scales?
Each note has a fundamental octive and fifth
Here’s a list of scales I make

That’s crazy. You just have to shape it and tune as you go? I’m trying to picture the process and I can’t even figure out how it starts out. Might have to take a trip to youtube.
It’s like making a steel drum you start off with a flat sheet of steel
Most of use shape the notes in ovals it’s a lot more easy to tune a note
Smaller the note the higher the pitch
It’s real loud have to do different rounds of heating the metal
Once you get over $2k I’d agree with that. The high volume Taylors are like any other mass production acoustic, hit and miss. Mostly miss. lol
Pretty neat. Seems like it would be tedious but rewarding.
You think when I go to play guitars in a store I reach for cheap ones?
Something about a Marshall Double stack gets me every time. WAY to much volume for my needs but still just the iconic look calls to me.
In OKC, they keep all the good gear locked up. They will let you try them but you have to get a store clerk to unlock and stand there with you, and lock it back up after you are done. Which is ok, I guess. Keeps young thrashers from screwing up the good stuff.
The guitar centers around me have acoustic rooms separating the area from the rest of the store and you can go pick a $2k guitar off the wall and play it in that room. It’s smart because it isolates the room from the people playing electrics so you can hear but it also means if you walk out of that room with an acoustic and head anywhere but the counter someone is going to notice.
