Niiiiccccee. You don’t deserve it, but NICE.
Can’t argue with either of those statements
Although I finally found the stud detector the other day in boxes and I can’t get within a foot of the damned thing without it going nuts. Weird part is there aren’t even batteries in it
Yeah I know the feeling. It’s terrible to be us, ain’t it.
It’s a blessing and a curse…
Man, I wish you were closer to Oklahoma. Next weekend is gonna epic. Would be cool to meet up with the other half of the Mike & Slick Comedy Hour.
Yeah I’ve been following the planning thread and possibly for the first time in my life wished I lived in/near OK. Looks like a good time.
Sorry to post this y’all but I can’t find the one from way back when I was posting videos…
First time recording in years… Had a buddy decide life wasn’t his style… Dude was the other half of me for 27 years… Don’t laugh lol I almost started crying and told myself to suck it up lol
Toasty! I feel your pain friend! You did your Buddy proud! Life has a way of kicking us in the balls when we least expect it! “Love is the key to happiness”… And sorrow! Well done @toastyjakes
With my neurological condition I could not play guitar (so no body has to scroll up to catch the back story) as it hurt my arm and where it contacted my body. Found out that I can play (play? Hah! Still need to learn my first tune), that is practice, using a Stratocaster type guitar with the arm and body bevels. So I have a goal, build a practice guitar that is light weight. Did that and I have a Telecaster with the bevels which is all made of spruce and the body chambered to shed even a few more oz’s. But darn it I want an acoustic to practice with.
I won’t go through all the pictures, made the body out of spruce and bent the top for an arm bevel.
Got the box closed up and took a saw to the belly cut area.
glued in some kerfed lining and shaped it into a pleasing shape. Then I bent a section of the top I cut off. Multiple compound curves, I am surprised it all worked out. Just need it to set for the night and tomorrow I will try to figure out how to glue it on.
Will be happy to see the box finished so I can start cleaning up (You mean everyone does not work on the last six inches of the bench?) and start on the neck.
Good stuff @bunny !!! You do great work! I have a few koa sets for ukulele. And a wonderful mango set too. I have a box of parts for the bender that has been sitting way too long. One day !!!
“One day soon!!!”
I have a ukulele sized body (think it is a tenor) that I made a six string neck for but think I will make a regular uke out of it. I plugged the tuner holes and was going to try wooden pegs with it.
If you have the nut wide enough, Id love a pint sized 6string! If Im not mistaken you may have a stack of parlor size builds somewhere? Thats where I was headed starting with the ukes.
I have made up a few small guitars and then changed to a Martin size 5 form to build the last few. They got stalled while I made up the electric and now this acoustic for myself. I am going to start a dreadnought once I clean up my shop so I can build it for my niece’s husband before Christmas. I probably should finish the one in the picture I am making for my brother.
There, got the sentence finished. The keyboard for my other computer locked up and I can’t get it going. Good thing I have this clunker of a computer as a spare.
Lucky guy, your niece’s husband! Please post some progress shots when time comes. Seems you just used up the last 6 inches of your workbench! Lol. I have a GA19rvt spread across mine atm. She’s sounding pretty good now… waiting for the cab to return. Owner getting a cover made for it. I cant really hear how well ,or not, the reverb sounds with the speaker naked on the bench.
So you get the electronic side of it also, then I will share a project I finally got back to. A four pole switch changes this from a 5E3 to a Blackface channel and a Tweed channel. I want to add reverb to it yet. Oh good, a reboot of the computer got my keyboard working, back to the other one.
Still trouble, tomorrow then.
Messed up on the fit so I had to fill in some gaps. I could inlay splints so that it would not be as noticeable but not sure if it is worth the effort. The bevelled portion does feel comfortable.
Nice work there bunny.
Thank you.
That’s awesome @bunny I have been playing for about 35 years. Best thing I ever learned to do accept gardening.
I have had a number of things stopping me from playing over the years, wish I did not put it aside in each case, always putting it off until later.
