Wasn’t sure where to post this, but it’s usually looking for “advanced” tek that you may have ended up falling for stupid ideas.
Here’s one of mine.
In the late 90’s, I somehow found information and ordered this thing that was like a big old loop of speaker wire, that one end was molded into a “cap” and a 120v cord connected to that. You would then run your feed line, for hydro guys, through the loop. What it was supposed to do was, I THINK, align the atoms or molecules for easier take up, thus producing monster plants.
Although the thing looked good, it didn’t do shit.
It was called something quantum. Maybe it was a time machine as well.
I didn’t get sucked into this, but many years ago I sold bags, mostly to friends and friends of friends. There was this one kinda sleazy dude from NY and his girlfriend that a hippie friend of mine introduced me to that I sold bags to for a little while. Anyway, sleazy dude was always telling me I should come down to Staten Island and that he’d introduce me to people there. Given what I know now about SI it does sound a little intriguing, but the guy swore up and down that growers he knew were injecting… THC? terps? into the root systems of the plants. I didn’t know much at the time but that sounded way too weird to be a real thing.
Sounds like the same sleezy dude when i was 16 that looked like the groundskeeper with the cat in harry potter that told me if i harvest my plant and tie a bag of water around the rootball and hang it upside down in the dark for 24 hours all the THC would go down to the main bud from all the skirt buds and larfy shit to my main Kolas and make them more potent.
@tomatoesonly - Do you recall if the ‘thing you ordered’ was also powered? If so, it was electro-magnetically conditioning the water. Some claim it’s better for plants but I’ve seen no definitive proof. Although, it is a technology that many homes use to soften water and keep pipes from getting calcium and other deposits that might get caught on porous surfaces.
I think if there’s a category for ‘sucked into something’ electroculture, aquaponics, fermentation, organics, and things of those natures have to be at the top of the list. I’ve spent countless hours researching the properties of water and dissolving oxygen in it and what that does to living organisms (fish/plants/fowl/etc). Not much of a story but it’s definitely been a journey that’s for sure. I have learned how to grow, harvest, chuck and seed sort, make hash, concentrates, edibles, and all sorts of things. The cool thing is though there’s always something new to learn! Haven’t done tinctures or rubs/oils and I’m getting into breeding for recessives.
Sometimes a loss today will be a win later by avoiding a future pitfall.
I wonder how you’re supposed to seal the bag around the stem well enough to prevent gravity from draining it… given that the plant is upside down and all?
i think i knew some guys in 2000 that were doing this… asian mob bud from the vac pack. in that era the variability between packs was super low. all common beasters. they got this one batch that was meh, and after that they had the same looking bud, but as blueberry, strawberry and pineapple. the blue berry had blue, not purple, blue hues in the bud. the strawberry had red in the same locations and frequency. the buds smelled good for a few days, then they seemed just like the first bud. i was not getting high anymore too…by my third OZ of BC. when i got the pineapple is when i noticed the bud was exactly the same (and i had a few saved buds from prior bags to compare). i was fairly close with the distributors and there was a rumor their source was soaking the roots or stems of cut branches in some dyed flavor solution and were getting the carnation effect. it wasn’t just a spray of terps…the smells didn’t smell like weed and the colors were coordinated.
Sounds like the “structured water” (aka vortexed water, hexagonal water, etc) hustle that’s been around forever. There’s versions of those devices that are magnetizers, could have been some sort of “quantum water accelerator” which is not real. But you’d sell a thing like that by claiming the magnets aligned the water molecules or something, this is what happens when you energize a coil of wire:
