Awesome @HappyTrees23s, I m gonna keep my eyes on this project.
Hey OG
So I sent out seeds to everyone who wanted to volunteer, and I do have more I can send out if anyone else is interested.
I can probably send out to 2 or 3 more members at least.
As a reminder all the seeds in the canisters are mixed and saved up from strains she tried from the early 70s through the 80s
I also discovered something while packing flips up.
Although they are still random strains…
One canister had average sized seeds mixed in with much larger and fatter seeds.
The other was filled with average sized seeds mixed with much smaller, but still mature seeds.
I can only assume that she filled them at different times while smoking across the country, and didnt just have one container she saved them all in before separating into two.
From what I THINK I remember, Larger seeds tend to grow from more Indica dominant strains, and Smaller seeds general form from more Sativa dom strains. I may be mistaken tho.
With that said, I am not mixing the canisters together, so if you have a preference between Smaller or Larger seeds just let me know.
I can also send some from both canisters if you would like.
As far as the project goes…
A few volunteers are willing to label each plant that grows, take pics of them during the grow, and they will attempt to S1 any Female and save pollen from any Males they find.
Hopefully if everything is successful we can offer specific S1s or Pollens to members who are interested.
If you liked the description of Female #2 and Male #5, then we can hopefully be able to send out S1s of Female #2 & Pollen from Male #5.
It is a lot of work, but some have decided they are willing to do this in order to preserve the genetics and give back to this amazing community
I feel an open pollination would just mix the genetics up more then they already are, but if it is the only way, then it’s better then just letting them disappear completely.
If anyone has any suggestions for the project please let me know
I really would just like for us all to have fun with this and hopefully get to see some amazing older genetics.
And to anyone else who might be interested:
It is completely understandable that not everyone knows how, or is willing to do all of that work, and I feel that is no reason to stop anyone from being able to grow some of these out if they wish.
I would ask that if you do request some, and I have enough to send, that you at least document & take pictures of what you find for the community
I appreciate and thank everyone for volunteering, and I am very excited to see what you all find
Stay safe OG

Thanks for the update @HappyTrees23s this is going to be a blast from the past!!! Can’t wait to see what pops up
Sounds very interesting, and I’m glad we got some volunteers for these. I will be checking in on this thread for sure!
If you’re in Canada I would be interested in helping
Nice, Oldies but goodies…
I dont mind shipping to Canada if your interested
To everyone I sent seeds out to.
I may have forgotten to LABEL the packs…
But this what each one is:
The packs with these stickers are the
LARGE seeds mix flips -
The packs with these stickers are the
SMALL seeds mix flips -
Sorry about that. Enjoy
So…throwing in the towel after two weeks with the first half of these…started to mold unfortunately
i got a few to crack,but they did nothing after that…but that means there’s still some life in them! so i’m confident someone will get something to grow
I’ll start my next attempt on the other half of the beans soon
Do you have any more of these? I’d love to try popping a few! Let me know if you’re down to trade or something. Thank you!
I’m also interested if you have anymore @HappyTrees23s seems like a worthwhile project and I have plenty room.
K+
I’ll like to grow some as well.if possible .cheers Billy Bob
Did any of the seeds actually germinate for anyone ? @HappyTrees23s
Damn sorry to hear that man.
It sound like your really close tho !
Maybe try to rinse them with Hydrogen Peroxide first to clean em up a bit ?
They are really old, so there are probably lots of spores stuck to those beans that are causing the mold.
I would place em in a container with Hydrogen Peroxide, shake it up for a minute or two and then rinse them off really well with distilled water.
Then place em into whatever germination method you use.
It’s helped me in the past with mold.
Just be sure to rinse the HP off with clean water afterwards !
And sorry this thread got buried in my notifications. I set something up wrong and definitely need to fix that
@Chara
Yes I actually have got feedback from 1 member who said he had success getting these to pop.
He would rather stay anonymous, but I asked if he would send pictures that I can post and he said he would.
I think almost everyone else is delayed so they haven’t even started yet.
And a few people I sent to never messaged me back after I shipped them out…
So I have no idea if they got them or if they have tried them. Just no reply. I’m a bit upset about it as I sent out a lot so far.
So with that being said
@Billybob

@Chara
Don’t know how I missed you 2 Sorry about that !
@TheGreenBeltGrower
@DirtySlowToes
@anyoneelse
If you are willing to participate with the projects ideas and help us out, I will send some to you.
But please don’t ask for these to store in the fridge for years.
Let’s pop some beans.
Awesome
Send me your address and I’ll have these out after the weekend !
Thank you for doing this
I have a ultrasonic cleaner I can put seeds in with cold water for a few minutes to vibrate Any spores or bacteria on the seeds.
Perfect haha
If your willing to grow some of these out send me an address in a Private Message.
I already have 2 more people wanting to participate so this project is coming back to life
Unfortunately I am just about to sell my house. I’ll be building a house with 4 grow rooms but that will be a good year to finish. So I am out of commission for a bit
I have lost all but two plants from the beans you sent, those plants however, are doing well and at least 2 feet tall. We have had some very hot weather here and things have slowed down in the garden as well as in the other “garden”.
