Are tents from eBay any good?

Some tents that seem to be blackout tents starts at$35 for an 2",2",7". Any thoughts or experience with eBay. Normally something like that would be $80 - $150

Many problems with lower end tents seem to be with the framework. They seem to be poorly welded and made from thin material, and bend quite easily with weight. The corners where connected are either plastic or metal.

Other issues are poorly stitched fabric or missing stitches all together, and light leaks. In the past, I’ve even had the double layered fabric with the inner reflective liner peel back. Lastly, you may fall victim of faulty zippers.

Do they work, yes, but you tend to get what you pay for. I find its easier to construct a room DIY style.

Has anyone bought a tent that they’re pleased with. I am looking for something along the lines of 3" to 4" wide, and 2" deep. And, 5". I would have to start out with florescent lights. But would like to end up with LED in the future. So I would like to have some space for the light due to burn. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I figured as much. Thanks for you’re input. Any small scale tents that you might recommend?

Secret Jardin or Gorilla Grow Tent is what I’d recommend for quality. It’s funny you ask, but for the cheaper end tents, I was recently asked to do a review for a company, that the company name currently escapes me. I’ll be posting my review hopefully soon, keep an eye out.

Once upon a time I traded used grow equipment in my store. I was not impressed with iPower, although their prices are nice.

Last time I got a tent of ebay it came without tent pegs.

You will get what you pay for !!!

Alternatives are timber frame with mylar stapled to it, build any size you like, cut the mylar and staple, tape as well if required. for the door I use a 3 flap system, 2 side openers covered by a lift over top cover.

So first flap is rolled up and sat on top, then the 2 inner doors (mylar) open from the middle out to the sides

All fastened using velcro strips

I have a Secret Jardin DR80 and a small cheap Vivo Sun for veg. The secret jardin is better quality with less light leaks and better materials and zippers. Both tents serve their purpose. The Vivo Sun does have a few more light leaks than the DR80.

AgroMax tents through HTGSupply . com are what I recommend to newer growers who want quality without breaking the bank. They can also be found on Ebay from HTG so either way.

Here is a 4x8 I setup recently did for a client pre filter added, but holds the weight of this setup nicely.
