Are there any Overgrow members that go camping?

Some photos of my last camping trip in May

This is a soft floor camper that I’ve had for about 15 years. The wife and I love going camping, although some might call it glamping tho.

Cheers Johnny

I prefer dispersed camping personally! Don’t need any neighbors  this is maybe 5 miles into Hoist Lakes trail system in Huron National forest, South Hoist lake. I weigh 150lbs my pack was probably 70, I hurt for literally a week straight cause my legs n hips weren’t ready for that shit :joy::joy: had maybe 6 hours total all weekend without rain

Set up camp by chance right next to where someone had made a legit elevated log/pine needle survival bed that had a makeshift blind not far from it!

My baby robins in their nest pic is too high res unfortunately

But there IS a bald eagles nest on my family property in Prescott  that’s been BEYOND cool

Unused to call it that, but after 35, the ground got hard. Now, call it, I’m jealous!

We have a really nice canvas tent, but have been talking about an rv for several years now.

Same thing here, we’re pushing 60 yrs. old and we decided to get a pop-up…it still feels like we’re in a canvas tent when it rains but with a little luxuries like a shower/toilet, stove, propane heater and heated mattresses…

Any other “Overland” or backcountry vehicle dispersed campers here?

I have a house booked for vacation next May just north of Yellowstone with my wife and adult children. I’m driving out and back while the family will fly into/out of Bozeman.

I will be dipping south into Utah on my return (~5/22/22) for one purpose… finally run Shaefer and White Rim within Canyonlands NP, see Monument Valley, and visit Colorado again before beelining it home to east coast.

Any likeminded campers in the area?

That’s awesome! You’ll love it. Bring some camera gear.

I’ve done the Yellowstone / Tetons / Glacier trip driving from the East Coast (or the Midwest) five times so far usually with a buddy or two. Last trip went solo and did some backcountry … which for someone normally living at sea level was a challenge.

Forgot to post our setup at Illinois Beach state park…these pix were from a few weeks ago…temps were 70-77 no humidity all week long.

House can see the Chicago skyline in the middle of this picture if you look hard enough.

I have been in the area a few times in the past, usually camp/cabin trips with my son and buddy’s. I tend to do cabin’s in brown bear territory… lol

This is first time the wife and daughters will see the west, Yellowstone and Teton’s are the main objective, and they need comfort more than a FS Cabin typically provides. The house has the Yellowstone river right in the back yard, looking forward to fishing it. Here’s the rental…

Thats not glamping in a pop up. Now this, this is glamping. Bought it in 2005 because my kids were under 5 and I wanted to show them the outdoors. Still have it even though they’re in college now. Not sure if we keep it or not.

Piggy Wiggly is huge in Wisconsin, but there are 8 or 9 of them in northern illinois, including three in the northern suburbs of Chicago, competing with wal mart, Jewel and Kroger. Suprising.

Been there many times. Its a lovely place, but not cheap.
Edit: I take that back. It seems very affordable for a summer home, but they don’t say what the monthly fees are.

Great thing about my Crick-Lot is we have owned it since 1957 and I have been privileged to be the last generation of kids in my family to grow up there and a lot of family members are wanting to sell it but fortunately it’s in my name and my uncle’s and to us it’s priceless and it’s not gonna be sold as long as I’m alive

Woodhaven may be the answer to my RV dilemma. Buy a lot for 20k, move the RV in to the deck, and sell my damned 8 mpg Excursion. I’m getting too old prepping for week-long RV trips. Driving and setting up are not my favorite things to do with a 20k lbs 51’ rig.

I spent my summer’s there from 88-2004…they have trout, northern pike, bass, crappie, catfish and bluegills of course…during summer bands on the wknd. 2 swimming pools & 1 beach and I think 7 lakes…theres a hardware store, bait shop, bank and a restaurant and grocery store…you can a lot cheaper than 20K.
