I turned the extraction fan on 100% while I was away from home and it was awful AF out and in the house. Now the humidity is matching the indoor humidity and the heat is as well.
Audrey III is growing nice and fast. Every day she’s seemingly doubling in size. Idk how low the 240H driver will dim down to, so I’m not sure exactly how much wattage I have over them RN, but it’s dimmed to the lowest setting. That’s 1 60w quantum board at full power, 1 300w cob light with a decent amount of UV, and the 4 QB running on the 240w meanwell dimmed to the lowest it goes, so that’s my current lights in here for knowing how much light is giving this response.
The sacred basil here I should pull from the tent at night to let it sleep. Currently the lights are on 24/7. I may have to add some fish fertilizer to it’s pot if the discoloration isn’t natural.
The rest here may be duds. The lavender wasn’t expired seed, but it was probably just too old to germinate quick like the rest. The one on the side of the lavender pod I have no clue what it is. It seems some got washed around the greenhouse or accidentally dropped around the edges when sowed🤦♂️ mystery seedling until it starts growing the true leaves.
Such a nice growth in 12 hours she keeps impressing me. This growth is normally what I see in a small container and not a half gallon of soil. The sacred basil, holy basil, Tulsi, or whatever you feel like calling it definitely is having an issue as the greenhouse seedlings are doing much better than it is. I have a 2 liter bottle I can make into a greenhouse for the Tulsi and see if it just is getting too much light for it’s age. I’ll start a new been oil spray in the morning and give all the photo plants a break from the tent while I treat them and do errands after to let them sleep even a little bit. I found a few gnats after I started trapping them in the bowl of water. Now that I know they’re still here I’ll add bti to the water and since they want that water more it’ll be a nice trap for them.
I have no idea what this deficiency is for Tulsi or if it’s just a odd variation. I’ll get it in the bottle top greenhouse and watch it from there. Seemingly the rest of them outside of the lemon balm should be fine without it. I’ll also move them farther away from the cob.
I have a feeling the stray seed on the side is a lemon balm still no lavender or sister auto germination yet. Should I give them a full 10 days to be sure? I know lavender I should, but the auto is taking a long time to germinate.
The domes were a good plan it seems. That and maybe moving them to a far spot at the edges of the middle light coverage. Audrey III is looking much better than I thought she would and she’s growing everything bigger today
I don’t know why she drank less this time other than I lowered the temperature of the tent to a much better temperature for the humidity in there. I’m sure the heat wasn’t helping anything. I didn’t remember to open the lid enough and I may have accidentally revived the peat moss as there’s now moss growing on the pods🤦♂️ live and learn. I removed the lid entirely. The lavender won’t sprout anymore I don’t think. I’ll let the seedlings in there now grow as they can and deal with it when I am free next.
The Tulsi and Lemon Balm are both looking much healthier and are growing again now that the domes are on too.
New day new growth. I have to go to work, so I have to keep this short. I’ll add more details as i have time. She is developing a spot on a leaf there. I gave her water as last night she still didn’t need it when i got home.
So far no hiccups and temps may be a little bit higher than I’d like, but overall she’s doing really well for no nutrients at all yet. So far she hasn’t needed any. Just water so far. @MomOnTheRun will this mix need any soon? I slightly increased the intensity of the QB, increased the extraction fan to 75%, moved a stationary fan pointed up above the lights, and increased the Lil blizzard fan to high.
I finally had enough time to do some work around the house today. I used the start of it to vacuum the tent floor free of all the dirt and Perlite on the floors.
Audrey III is looking great and happy as can be. Slightly curled at the edges, but it seems as she gets bigger it becomes less of an issue. It seems she may have enough light for now. If this is anything like how tomatoes curl when they have too much it’ll in url itself once it can take that much light when the leaf is bigger. So far despite the mild curling she’s not stopping her growth. She reached the edges of the pot, so it’s just vertical growth from here on out. I don’t have any plans to train her yet. Too busy with work to be home enough to micromanage anything with what I have now. Though I’d like to when I get time
The other plants are doing very well now that they’ve adjusted to the lights. Only the strong survive and the weak die off in this tent. Though this algae growth is intriguing me. It doesn’t appear to be causing any issues in any of the plants it’s growing on.
Nope! Feel free to use plain water for the duration with a monthly calmag drench…perhaps foliars if you want to push her though she doesn’t appear to need it. The only reason we used nutes for the Luckys is because it was a brand new soil so not everything had a chance to break down at the time we started…same goes for your new yet bigger batch of soil
Sounds good just be careful there isn’t too much air being pulled out so she gets dehydrated…she’ll let you know by acting thirsty with damp soil but the numbers (humidity and temp) are looking spot on
It won’t until it gets to the roots just scrape it off and back off the watering to let em dry out a bit more
Remember: white is good, green is bad
I haven’t really even been watering them actually. The pods after drying out kept growing it oddly. Those pods are completely covered in it. I’ll do what I can on those, but I might just try to wash off the pods and transplant bare roots in soil. I’m still working out the pots for them RN.
The lavender took forever to germinate, but once it’s bigger I’ll let it get its own pot. The others as you can see need something soon. I’m still shocked though that the ones in the pods aren’t asking for anything either. The Tulsi is about the same size as the first one and it’s still green and not faded yet. Speaking of the cotyledons on Audrey III are still nice and green. So far she hasn’t had any nutrition issues.
I used what I learned in the first grow in this tent to know when it’s best to increase the extraction fan speed. I need a way to cool my house down now to help the tent conditions be more controllable. All in all though a nice stress free grow so far. Very good as I’ve been away from the site a lot due to drama IRL. Just a lot of shit all at once. I’m getting used to it slowly.
Speaking of algae growth reaching the roots my peppers outside have it growing on the fabric outside of the pot also. It more closely resembles moss TBH. I wonder if the peat started growing it’s moss again
Now that I’m seeing a pair of pistils on Audrey III I’ve lowered the lights from the ceiling to 30 inches from Audrey III last night. So far the plants all look happy. I nearly lost all of my jiffy pod seedlings with all that’s gone on the last few days. They didn’t get water for too long and the other Tulsi might be a goner. The rest bounced back just fine.
Everything got water last night as well.
Audrey III is looking really good and she’s growing new leaves all over the place now. last night when I saw the 2 pistils I couldn’t see any calyx though. It was odd. Just 1 spot and not asymmetrical yet for preflowers.
The Rosie Basil is doing really well and the Tulsi was getting a large internodal spacing. It could be genetic, but in the end my lights were also really high up at first.
I finally transplanted the lavender pod before I kill it by accident. It was the only pod that didn’t have any issues at least. Some algae or moss growing, so a scraped it all off the best I could and transplanted it and covered up the pod base with soil.
I’m not fully sure what I’m looking at with Audrey III RN. After watering a couple days ago she started this droop she’s in now. I’ve not given her any nutrients and only water. I haven’t given her any ipm either.
I’d like to transplant her to a bigger pot if it’s not too late. I have a 7 gallon just sitting here begging to be used. If it’s not too late I’ll transplant her to a bigger home to spread those roots. Otherwise I’ll leave her be. I don’t want to stress her out, but at the same time I would like to see her reach a fuller potential as she’s growing faster than I thought she would at all. 2 weeks and she’s possibly just hit the bottom of the pot yesterday and I’m not sure if I even can transplant her anyways now if she did
I had to give her more water as it was very light and the soil has been getting as light as an empty pot after a day or 2.
When the soil is light it’s usually pale too and floats in water for a bit before absorbing water. She’s a fast drinking girl for sure. Though something is off now and I’m not quite sure what’s wrong this time. I can’t pin down anything fully. No curling tips, no discoloration on leaves, leaves aren’t lifeless, leaves aren’t too dark, leaves aren’t thick or textured, the droop is from the leaf with a bend in the stem too, leaves are cupping from the middle taco folding, new growth has slowed down, and existing growth is getting bigger.
As it was a little sad seeing Audrey III in a small container I mixed up some more of her soil to get her in a 7 gallon pot I filled with around 5 gallons of soil. When I went to check on the rootmass to see how hard the transplant would be on her I saw and felt no roots in the felt at all. It’s all held together, but only water roots on the sides just poking out their little heads. I couldn’t see the Taproot yet, but she’s about to spread her roots further. Her color was also fading as I looked closer at her trying to figure out what was going on. I probably overwatered her or something, but I’m not seeing full symptoms I can recognize RN. I feel like I know this one already and forgot what it is🤦♂️
She perked up a little right away once she got transplanted. No ripped roots and no broken rootball. The soil just popped right out. Made transplanting her to a larger home easier.
I get the same thing also. She wasn’t rootbound, but the soil was well held together when wet. On bottom there were no visible roots. The sides had the rounded tips of water roots poking out all over. Nothing grew into the fabric pot at all.
She’s almost back to normal again. The lowers that faded set the fade further, but seem to have halted where they are so far. Time will tell, but she is definitely happier now.
I’m glad I transplanted her up. The soil was not much deeper than a jiffy pod. Now I’m going to wait until she asks for water again to gauge her new schedule.
I raised the lights again to 31" above her canopy and so far so good.
I took a nap and she had an issue on the leaves dirt got on too long. Would it stress her out if I pruned off the leaves that were sitting in dirt while drooped too much? Though for a 6 hour change with the situation I’m in not transplanting sooner when I had the initial hint that she wanted something more not bad. Hopefully the new soil helps halt the fading as she’s wayyyyyyy to young for that yet. Very compact though. Now she has the room to stretch and grow taller if she still can🤦♂️ if not ah well. Shit happens and regardless it’ll be something I can smoke while I’m setting up my new place.
