Barefoot And Blazed's Benevolent Buds

Dam i wish i wasnt a diabetic. CRAP

I’m diabetic as well. I was diagnosed about a year ago. I’m lucky that I can manage it with a pill (Metformin) and diet. I will eventually make savory edibles, but for now I just factor that splurge of carbs in my daily allowance of sugars.

I was mostly interested in making edibles for my beloved partner who doesn’t smoke at all. A vape pen is “ok”, but she loves edibles and has a bit of a sweet tooth. Not to brag, but I’m a damn good cook when I set my mind to it.

I’m a lightweight so I only consume in the evenings after my work and other responsibilities are taken care of. I don’t know if I’m weird, but I like to vary my method of consumption every day. Joint one day, bong hits the next, then a pipe, then a vape. Edibles take a while to kick in so you have to plan ahead for those. I got a Dabpress recently and have been enjoying dabs of fresh pressed rosin for an immediate kick. I need to work on my technique though because they can be brutal on the lungs… You sure do feel it though!

I found others who report a low tolerance following an extended break. After 20 years of daily use I didn’t get high for about 6 years, but then started up again a couple years ago. With the surplus of herb I generate in the garden it’s a shame I can’t consume as much as I want. I’m definitely under 1g/day of flower.

How about more pics?

I posted these in the Budshots thread, but this is the Northern Cheese Haze that is nearing the end

Today I plan to top phenos 4 & 5 of the GG4 x Black Domina and begin LST.

If I have time I’ll up-pot these Mephisto autos (Hubbabubbasmelloscope, Walter White, and CannaCheese) into Octopots:

You can see the scraggly Gelato HashPlant I was given by a friend in town. I pressed some of her flower from that strain and it is by far the stickiest I have squished! Very tasty too!!

@BarefootAndBlazed. How do you think that NCH is going to yield? I have 3 NCH and 3 HBSS that just broke the surface. They will be my first run in the Octopots.

I don’t know if my grow will be representative of what you’ll see. I mixed up an anti-mite treatment at a concentration that was much too high. It burned the plants I applied it to, including this NCH. It recovered and is looking alright, but the strangest thing happened where a side branch suddenly shot up tremendously fast with increased internodal spacing. It is now taller than the main cola - which is nearing harvest - but the new branch is all white pistils and far behind in development.

I’ll have to take it down in two stages. I hope to get three ounces total when dried, based on my other Mephisto history. When their plants thrive I’ve pulled 4oz, but 3 is the average. No reflection on the strain. My screw up was the biggest factor…

Oh nice, that NCH is looking gooood! Very strange on that one tall branch  almost like it got some bga or something, maybe some type of hormone in that mite treatment? or something that inhibits one, is my bet.

I love that strain. I stunted one HARD, got 8" tall in DWC by the end of flower, she looked kinda similar to yours in structure, but she was solid bud and I still got 35grams dried. Is yours from a recent pack? What smells are you getting off it? The last two packs I’ve seen have been all pine phenos  I miss the cheese pheno from early 2019. Still have one early 2020 pack that I haven’t popped yet to look through.

edit: forgot, definitely look into a water style dab ring, much easier on the throat  or they make honey straws/nectar collectors with water that can be decent if you find a good model.

I’ll answer @HolyAngel 's questions later. I was looking through some other pics I took and wanted to point out a couple things…

I keep a trash barrel of water in my garden area. I fill that via a hose from an outdoor spigot. From there I use an auto-siphon to fill a 5 gallon bucket. The auto-siphon transports fluid at a slow enough pace that I have plenty of time to add nutes, check the pH, and make adjustments as it fills. Here is how I fill the Octopots:

The green 5 gallon bucket sits atop a step stool. The hose from the auto-siphon goes into the red funnel to fill the 5 gallon reservoir. Just pump the siphon a couple of times to start the flow…

The picture struck me because I noticed pheno #5 has skinnier 9-fingered leaves compared to the #4 which remains compact with thicker 7-fingered leaves.
The #5 is more than double the size of the #4, but #4 has the telltale leaf twist of the GG4 line.

These were transplanted from Solo cup to Octopot 11 days ago. Transplant is the only time you water the Octopot from the top. The plants may struggle a bit as they expend energy growing roots down to the reservoir, but take off once they reach the nutrient solution. Some of the difference in size between the #5 and #4 could be that the #5 hit the solution first which kicked off a growth spurt. I expect the #4 to pick up the pace since I could tell it has begun to drink by the pot’s level indicator, however in the flower tent the #4 is smaller and less developed than the others. Depending on how they smoke I’ll only keep one or two of the three I have going. Pheno #1 clone went to a friend but I still have the mother…

The mite treatment was my version of the Green Cleaner recipe posted by @SamwellBB in post #34 of this thread. It’s a simple recipe (oil, soap, isopropyl alcohol, lemon juice, salt, water) but I blew the measurements when mixing it. Fortunately everything I damaged has recovered.

35g dry but only 8" tall must have been quite a sight! :astonished:

I bought my NCH during the 4/20 sale this year. There’s something piney and a bit of cheese to it, but I expect that to intensify. My nose isn’t the best at identifying the individual notes but it has that musty kind bud smell I love.

I ordered a recycler from Thick Ass Glass not long after buying the press. It’s a quality piece, but I haven’t mastered it yet. I recently started using a temp gun to make sure I’m not hitting it when it’s super hot.

I think this was day 37 of 12/12 for the GG4 x Black Domina. #1 pheno looking fine!

She’s drinking like crazy!

I’ve been lazy and using my phone for pictures, but this evening I broke out my “nice” camera. There should be plenty of pixels to peep if you zoom:

^^^I’ll be lollipopping that one soon.

Okay I took the liberty of making a half batch recipe and am reposting…however (see last sentence)

Green cleaner

Recipe for CB Cleaner-

24 ounces 710 ml. Soybean Oil
(Vegetable oil is soybean oil, check the label. get the store brand)

24 ounces 710 ml. Ultra Dish Soap
(brand does not matter, Ultra strength is what we are after)

13 ounces 385 ml. 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
(I get this at Fred Meyer for a dollar per 16 oz bottle)

1.25 ounces 37 ml. Lemon Juice
1 ounces 28 grams Salt
1 ounces 30 ml. Water

1 oz = 29,5735 ml

1 oz. = 28.3495 grams

Instructions.

Major infestations - 1 to 1.5 ounce per gallon
Maintenance and IPM - .5 ounce per gallon

Doing this begs a question since the salt measurement is not correct in both metric and English versions since 1.5 oz is not 57 grams as in the original. So which way do you make it with metric or English measurements?

Edit-Adjusted after below comment to reflect

probably used grams as I live in Europe

I took down the “main cola” of the Northern Cheese Haze, 84 days after planting the auto seed. You’ll recall that a side branch had a huge growth spurt and surpassed the original apical stem by a number of inches, but it’s younger and needs more time.

Before (original main cola on the left)

Chopped with rough trim

What’s left (you can see where I snipped)

Bonus shot of the GG4 x Black Domina, now in week 7 of flower
