Best PM resistant plants for outdoor in the south?

What’s up OG? Looking to hear about yalls growing outdoor experience in the hot and humid south U.S. starting to plan for my 2023 outdoor season and wanting to know whats the best powdery mildew resistant plants you’ve ran. Last year I was spraying purecrop1 in rotation with doctor zymes, leaf blowing the plants dry after rain storms, heavily defoliating to open the canopy. I had very minimal problems with PM but somedays it felt like alot of work compared to my set it and forget it style of gardening.

Will this be a never ending battle? Is there a fairly bulletproof cultivar that is really PM resistant? I’m not worried about having the latest and greatest hype strain, I just want some sun grown organic sensi!

P.S. bonus points to the OGer that can tell me how to prevent these pesky caterpillars that show up late in flower eat my buds, pooping causing bud rot.

Much love to all my fellow growers and can’t wait to crush the 2023 season.

Spray BT for the caterpillar problem.

Isn’t BT super bad for the bees?

Not sure. I hope not

I believe that your right about BTI being harmful to the bee’s.

Reading about it now. Looks like I want to use Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki and avoid Bacillus thuringiensis aizawai. That seems to be the bee killer.

I didn’t realize it was bad for bees. I’d rather have some bud rot than to start killling bees off.

Could look into sulfur foliar applications

The active ingredient in Mosquito Bits is bacillus thuringiensis israelensis. I use this indoors. Watering through the soil will prevent fungus gnat larvae from growing, and its harmless to worms. Aswell as people and pets.

Going to read up on it now soda. Can you foliar sulfur late into flowering? Weeks 6-8 it seemed like everyone I knew was getting them really late into flower. I would wake up real early to scout and kill em but didn’t want to spray anything that late in the grow.

Potassium bicarbonate will kill powdery mildew instantly. 3% strength hydrogen peroxide, 1 part peroxide to I think 8 or 9 parts water sprayed on the soil will help prevent powdery mildew taking hold in the soil. A little researching will give you all the information you will need for the mixing ratios.

Thanks Semo never heard of that, reading up on it now.

I know that this is not concerning your PM question. But I thought that you might be interested.

Yea I just started using a BT Israelensis product called Microbe-Lift, but it’s the same as Monterey or Gnatrol or all the others, it decimated my fungus gnats but the worms don’t care at all.

Actually cuz, it doestake care of PM/mold, just not as well as the Hypochlorous acid.

Shucks nah I wouldn’t use sulfur deep into flower it could definitely affect the flavor and smokeability
