Best way to collect, store, use and mail pollen?

Is there something to do if you don’t have one?

Makeshift one if you can. Gasket totes aren’t expensive, but if you don’t want to buy one, tupperware or food storage containers can work too. You need some kind of dessicant. Closet dehumidifier works good ($15), bulk silica works good ($15-20).

You don’t have to spend a lot to get good results. But if you can’t get a dessicant then your best bet is probably straight into the freezer and hope for the best.

This thread comes at the perfect time!

I want to collect some of the Azar Kashmir pollen in the next couple weeks, and was wondering how I could do it. Last time I tried to save pollen, it molded.

I saw your setup Badger, and just ordered one of those rechargeable closet desiccant things. Gonna do same thing in a small Tupperware container and hope for the best

I actually have never used flour myself. I was just sort of making a guess on what I remember reading. I have some that was sent to me in flour from @Instg8ter. I thought he sent me about 3 grams of pollen, lol… I believe it would stay viable just at room temp or cooler, since my normal humidity is very low here normally.

Something about putting the flour on my buds doesn’t feel right. I guess it can be washed off but I’ve never tried it yet. I will try what G8tr sent me though, for sure… it seems to be an accepted method in some circles.

Good! I took a picture of my meager setup to show that you don’t have to have a primo setup like lefty to get started (I’m jealous). I had hoped it would be encouraging. It looks like it worked

Anytime my friend.

This was my first time collecting pollen. The second will be for you.

I’m glad to get Lefthands experience on overgrow. He has helped many make seeds successfully.

I appreciate it. Lefthandseeds is an invaluable source of info and a level I can aspire too. Right now I am just getting my feet wet and your method is a great starting point. Down the rabbit hole I go.

Yeah man I appreciate it big time. Ordered the mini dehumidifier today and a couple pounds of colour indicating silica and gonna put 2 mini hygrometer in there just need the container now

That’s the style of dehumidifier I use. I think mine is the brand pro-breeze. Pretty simple device. It’s just silica beads housed in there, and on the back side there’s a plug. When the beads start to change color, plug it in overnight and it bakes the water off of the beads. Unplug it and put it back in the box.

Usually with a decent seal, they can go a few months between recharges.

Man I just ordered that exact same one. Now I feel even better about this. Thanks @lefthandseeds

Great thread!

Quite funny that so many have ordered the same dehumidifier  :joy:

Same situation as several others here, taking pollen for the first time. Will follow closely.
