How long would you recommend leaving jars open?
Flush the air daily (maybe a few times at first) and re-seal the jar. If the weed is good, you will know after rougly 10 days. Hopefully, it was fully dry and no mold has begun to form?
I think it was dry stems snapped clean and it felt dry to touch it isnāt a ammonia type of smell itās more like a hay or grass smell
you could always spread the buds out on a table for a few minutes or however long you feel is necessary if theres too much moisture but smell will come back. its probably chlorophyll degrading
This should be good smoke and soon!
I think I am just being a bit inpatient tbh lol I tried a joint of it last night wasnāt the best I have smoked but it was smooth on the throte itās only been in jars for 4 days so probably needs a lot more time
Too dry is a problem also. It will still be fine to smoke just not as flavorful. The jars purpose is to allow the still not perfectly dry bud to dry slower. You want it to take another 3 or 4 days to reach a safe moisture content. (55-70%) Then you want the lid to stay shut on the jar for at least a few weeks. All the oxygen is used up and the bud stays preserved for a very long time in a cold dark area. The improvement in flavor is relative to the smoker. I like a long cure others donāt.
Edit: Over 65% the buds are spongy and when cured wonāt have that hard appearance a lot of the younger crowd likes.
I agree, I have trimmed both wet and dry, and I never noticed any difference between the two.
Sometimes I become too fatigued when trimming a plant while wet, so I just hang the unfinished branches up to dry and finish a few days later.
No difference in the manicured buds to me.
I store leafy bud in jars as little as possible. That is what increases my experiences with that fresh cut lawn smell we all love. (do i need italics)
Wot sort of temp should I be lookinf at wen buds r in jars I have a,small hygrometer inside the jars reading between 19 -21 degrees with a rh of 50 -55 is that about right
Those would be ready to close up for a couple of weeks. Especially if you trust your hygrometer in the jar. There would be no need to open and burp unless it hit 65% or 70% humidity.
Edit: Temperature is fine also.
Thanks for the reply I have been burping twice a day since 3 days in think I will leave for a few days then open to check the smell
I agree with any of the above methods except one step. Hang to dry untill the stem Cracks, not snap.
If it snaps in two youāve waited too long.
@ryasco is dead on about it getting too dry!
There has to be some moisture left for microbial activity to further break down chlorophyll and sugars that burn harsh, and give off wet hay scent.
Burping the jars in my experience evens out humidity but also allows the off gas of ammonias and ethylenes.
Also gives the microbes fresh oxygen to get back to work.
Anyone tried these yet? I will buy some to try for my next harvest. It should keep your buds at the Best humidity as possible.

One 8 gram pack should be used for about 20g of buds acording to manufacture. But who knows
Yep, and thereās a thread (not too long) specifically about humidity packs, too.
From my brief experience, they seem to work pretty well for bringing humidity back up if needed, donāt seem to have a detrimental impact on potency, but they seem to have some impact on smell (and maybe flavor).
I donāt think Iāll use them going forward, unless I accidentally dry out some buds way too much before jarring ā but even then, Iād be inclined to remove them from the jars once the curing process slows down.
I wet trim and hang dry whole branches. When the branches bend but you can hear cracking (but no actual cracking of the stem) and the outside of the buds feel crispy, then I get my food grade 5 gallon buckets with twist of gamma lids and trim the buds off the stems. I use 3 62% 67 gram bovedas per 5 gallon bucket. I use a small digital hygrometer made for a reptile tank to monitor things. I seal the bucket for about a day and then check in it. In about a day, day and a half the moisture should have spread from the stems and back into the buds to where there is no longer any crispness. At this point the humidity is probably higher than the 62% so Iāll leave it open for a couple hours and gently turn the buds over. Iāll leave it open until there is just a slight crispness on the outside of the buds again, and then seal it up. I repeat this basic process until it holds right around 62% humidity. Then theyāre done.
those things take up to 72 hours (or more?) to begin regulating the humidity so if you are opening the container frequently they wonāt work. i also noticed a change in smell and flavor using integra boost packs. i wouldnāt use them for drying/curing and i tried using them for slightly overdried cannabis, using a larger than suggested pack and once w/ suggested size, and left it completely sealed for 2 weeks and noticed no appreciable difference. the smell i noticed after a couple days, before sealing up.
I ordered some of these yesterday
They donāt take 72 hours to regulate humidity. Also the more you use, the better they work. Thatās why I use 3 for the same amount they recommend one for. I have not noticed any loss in small, or bag appeal.
After reading this i remembered one of my Z6 jars has a 62% boveda pack. Figured I should sample compared to the others I have treated in the conventional manner.
The boveda buds are super sticky. Clumping together in the jar even. The sweet smell that was there upon sealing the jars is there but is muted now. The buds are too wet to smoothly burn and the flavor is of fresh buds instead of one month cured budsā¦
Not a fan.
I could see these being very useful in a pinch though.
Stay hazed
