BigMike55’s Ongoing Cannabis Log (Part 1)

Lol my bad, thought you had a dog. Like @DougDawson said they can come from anywhere. As long as you hit em head on and really target them you’ll be fine. Last time it happened to me I did a deep cleaning after flowering everything out and haven’t seen them since.

Soon as possible I’m tearing the tent apart and using bleach to kill everything. Then alcohol…

Sooo pissed right now ;(

Those are good points. I believe the 2 spotted spider mite is much more common to other crops than you think though bud. I know they have been known to go after many different crops. This is a great site for some more info on the little arachnids.

Here’s an off the wall idea… No, I’m not high before you ask.
I read that if you have clones that have SM’s you can dunk them in water for a while and kill them all.
Hypothetically speaking, I’m using bags, the plant gets mites, I wrap the bag in canvas and tie it securely. Now I suspend her inverted over a 50 gal barrel, and dunk to a level where three inches of soil is submerged. Would the plant be harmed if someone did that? Would it work even?

Sometimes it’s hard living inside my head.

Poor choice of words on my part. I should have said COMMON not exclusive!

I’ll happily dunks plants :rofl:. So I can actually drown these bugs? What about extremely humidity? Like I turn the shower on HOT and make it a sauna room with the plants inside the room?

I have heard about dunking in water for 15-20 minutes and Drown those Fuckers. Never tried it though.

All good bud. There is some great info coming out about the little vampires so that is a good thing. It just sucks you two are having to fight them. Hope you guys get it under control, they are not something I would wish on anybody.

We will fukin kill them all together…

I’m more worried about them hiding in soil forever.

Ohh this could actually work?

Excuse me while I turn my small non vented washroom into a legitimate Sauna for the next few hours.

I don’t know about hiding in the soil. But if you are dilligent about dusting the surface of the soil with Diatomaceous Earth, I don’t see how any bugs that crawl on the surface could survive. Then of course when you water, you would need to redust after the surface dried. This is how I control fungus gnats. The way it works is that acts as microscopic razor blades effectively slicing bugs abdomen on a microscopic level. Dehydrates the bug. I’m not making this up.

Ohh I understand what your saying. But won’t that kill all the beneficial microbes also in my organic garden?

Nice, a hack I learned of for fungus gnats is steel wool. If you cover the medium with it the gnats get shredded trying to get to soil to lay eggs and then when the larva hatch they get shredded trying to get out. The steel wool will rust a bit but it actually adds some iron to the soil so is beneficial.

Actually a few websites say this also.

Lots of air flow for sure if someone tried that. Otherwise, mold. Danged if you do, danged if you don’t.
