Thats just how I have done it since always. An older guy showed that to me when i was about 15. And i never forgot and have done it like this. There are as many different ways to clone as there are popping beans. This works for me.

You have to be very much at peace when handling a blade, and precise.
So really much of it is giving it your full attention and doing it with great care, that makes all the difference. Water has a memory for emotion and consciousness, us and plants, we’re mostly water. So if you’re doing it with love, that helps too. The plant wants to deliver after all this kind communication, you are not just making marks, you’re gently indicating to the plant that you want it to have mighty roots.
You’re giving instructions to its DNA on a quantum level, while you’re also doing it physically.
The power we hold over our environment is enormous.
I think the NL5xAfghan I ate + the Secret Dragon tea, made with a fresh bud that just so happened to fall right into my tea, just started kicking in. Nice combo.
