Got another little update to share, so here goes nothing. First off, the males are juuuust starting to pop off pollen, so I pulled them outta the tent as to try to not seed the whole tent out. I was hoping they’d fit in my little 1x1 dude tent, but they’re too tall. So I instead popped im in my little 6x8 greenhouse I just put up a couple weeks ago, and they seem to really enjoy hanging with the veggies. Luckily the weather has been in the 70s, so they should do great. I’ve done this trick with males a couple years now, but used a little pop-up 2x2 greenhouse instead, and Im really enjoying the upgrade lol.
I cant say enough how much I appreciate all the kind words! Thanks everyone!
Well the moment of truth has arrived, and the pollination was successful! I tried to get as even of a mix of pollen as possible(about 4 days ago now), and am most likely gonna just let the males ride out in the greenie. I really like letting males totally flower out in the offseason like this. just to see if there’s any real special ones i may wanna reveg later.
As for the only lady, I was about to collect some more pollen, and after checking her, I couldn’t find a single pistil on her. At least that’s a silver lining in this project! The pollination was successful first try with no hassle, so I’m a happy camper. At this point its basically autopilot on the capillary mat until those seeds are nice and ripened up.
And even more good news, Ive just received a good amount of Dank Sinatra F2s from @nube, as well as some from @anon60559124 that should be here soon(thanks a ton guys!!) for my next repro project that I plan to start as soon as I clear up a little space for them. It’s so cool to see all these folks coming together to make all this happen. I’m just really honored and excited to be able to be part of it.
A week ago @BackyardBoogie420 told me the female Black Lotus plant appeared to be fully pollinated and no calyx left un-fertilized, so imho no need to pollinate a clone.
It’s been a while since my last update, so I figured I should drop in a quick one. The sole lady has been trucking along well. She’s for sure loaded to the gills with seeds, and has a really interesting hashy/Snow Lotus smell. I wish I could give a better description of “Snow Lotus smell” but it’s really unique and distinct. It’s one where everyone seems to pick out a different smell, and no one’s ever wrong. So at this point patience is the name of the game to make sure the seeds are well matured before I take her down. I’m guessing another couple weeks. I tend to let seeded plants go pretty long, just to make sure the seed I pull is as viable as possible.
In other good news, I have just been approved for a Dank Sinatra F2 repro which I’m really excited about. Here’s the link to the thread for anyone interested!
Well the day has finally come for harvest! I went a good bit longer than I ever would for smokin buds, but I wanted to make sure the seeds were as ripe and viable as possible. As it got more ripe, the smell became harder to put my finger on, but honestly really nice. It’s always really interesting the wild and unique smells those old school genetics can have. At this point it’s just layin out on a little dry rack. Normally I like to hang dry, but theres a bunch of seeds half popping out, and I dont wanna lose and floor seeds. The game plan at this point is just get it bone dry so I can shuck the seeds and get them out the door and in the hands of folks who want them.
