I smoke during the day off and on (in other words: constantly) as needed for pain, depression, and other things . I have been doing this for going on 7 years instead of the pills that were doing nothing for the pain. I have noticed during this time that some varieties of cannabis seem to cause my blood sugar level to sink off the chart! Has anyone else noticed any relatable effects. Before I returned to smoking cannabis, my blood sugar level was getting pretty high, now it’s barely noticeable, per the Dr.s.
I had high blood pressure and when ever I took a dab I blacked out for a second after exhaling… I stopped taking them. Then lost 100 lbs. And now am perfectly healthy and dabbing again. Sorry had nothing to do with blood sugar, I think?
Hindu Kush is the only strain I’ve smoked that on occasion sits me down with a definite low sugar feeling. Dizzy, cold sweat and nausea. A cookie usually fixes it! Of course I’m a big kid so a cookie fixes most things! From the above it may not sound like it but I Love me some Hindu Kush!
Yep, can confirm this happens for me sometimes. Also have had a few kinda scary passout/seizure incidents over the years - always involving nothing to eat and alcohol.
If I smoke too much, my blood pressure drops a lot (I have normal 120/80 pressure… no meds) and I’ve blacked out several times in the last couple years. I have to be very careful with new strains… like, sitting on the couch where I won’t fall over and hit my head
In this prospective cohort study of older adults with hypertension, we have shown that cannabis treatment for 3 months was associated with a reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure values, as measured by consequent 24-hours ABPM tests. No significant changes were found in blood lipids profile, HbA1C, fasting insulin, C-reactive protein, kidney function tests, electrolytes, anthropometric measurements, and ECG parameters. Fasting plasma glucose was significantly decreased only
Conclusions
Amongst older adults with hypertension, cannabis treatment for 3 months was associated with a clinically meaningful reduction in 24-hours systolic and diastolic blood pressure values with a nadir at 3 hours after cannabis administration. This drop is possibly associated with a higher rate of dizziness. Cannabis treatment was not associated with a change in metabolic, anthropometric measurements, and ECG parameters. Further larger randomized trials are needed to evaluate the safety of cannabis”
Know a fella has to take insulin and smokes. He is monitoring his blood sugar pretty closely. Claims 2 strains have dropped his blood sugar. Super Lemon Haze and Mother’s Milk.
Check out this cool Indian study from a few years ago of a village population and their traditional cannabis use for diabetes, pretty cool even for a small study:
I had heard in the past, that chocolate would mess up a good high. did not know, what was meant by that? could use some testing to see what exactly is happening to cause that urge to sleep so hard?
mother’s milk, penny wise, blueberry diesel, LAPK these are a few I can think of off the top of my head at the moment that have affected me with blood sugar dropping. I have a meter, have tested my blood glucose level during the times and it has been down to 58-60 at times. that may not be low for some, but it’s pretty low for me. don’t want it any lower than this!
Well by way of a story, a few years ago I was caring for my elderly dad who had quite severe diabetes and whose blood sugar would frequently get to 20 or so and sometimes even higher!
My son one day decided to make some hash brownies with a ridiculous amount of dab in them, and you guessed it my dad found them while they were cooling on the rack and ate about the equivalent of at least half an oz in one sitting. Needless to say he was the most stoned I have ever seen a person, for 3 days he was completely and utterly wrecked.
Sounds funny but it wasn’t at all at the time.
BUT what I discovered was that his blood sugar levels plummeted to normal levels even though he was too incapacitated to take his insulin pills. It stayed down for about a week before it gradually started to climb again. It definitely had an effect on blood sugar levels.
Including organic virgin coconut oil in your daily diet also improves blood sugar levels.
I use it instead of butter.
Oyster mushrooms also help regulate blood sugar, cholesterol and a bunch of other stuff.
Shiitake too. Most mushrooms.
It’s wise to drink mint and nettle tea regularly too.
A handful of raspberries will block blood sugar realease for a couple of hours there are many plants and foods that contain terpenes and polyphenols that will block carbohydrate absorption in the gut and release into the blood stream.
Life long diabetic here. I can take a thousand dabs and it never effects my blood sugar. Howl of the safety beagle if you have diabetes go see a specialist.
If you sit at home smoking weed for your diabetes, you will die.
