Bodhi Guide - Seed and Strain Discussion (Part 1)

Here’s the pics I have from the Lower Ulleri and the Upper Chuile:

Lower Ulleri (2 pics)

Upper Chuile (3pics)

One of these was autoflowering in 18 hours of light.

I made hash with all these and they didn’t grow the best in the greenhouse with the cold weather. They were all December strains but the weather got too cold and I had to harvest early.

@misterbee has some seeds for a giveaway of a Lower Ulleri outcross to Kashmir Sunshine, called Stairway that will be included in an upcoming giveaway for any of you that want to try a somewhat tamed version.

Here’s a little more landrace info from Bodhi, courtesy of @Cannavore ’s guide, plenty more in the link at the bottom:

Watermelon Hashplant (Annapurna National Forest, Nepali Himalayas; Village: Mileche; Elevation: 2000m)

an open pollination of 18 individuals hand collected in the nepali himalaya, this will be the first and only open pollination, the rest is up to you. there are plans to work the line selecting for early maturing dense and resinous individuals with a release of those in the future. theres alot of nepalis to work on so i want to do open pollinations, get them out and move on to the next one asap, before the germination levels drop too low. aroma: watermelon, tea rose, mountain flowers

Ethiopian Highland

Originally from african seeds stock, the now defunct old school purveyors of the finest south african heirlooms. these are an open pollination made by a friend from my previous filial selections. Heres the original write up: Ethiopian Highland - Outdoor Considered the finest in the world by the ruling Empress Zauditu and Ras Tafari who became the Emperor Haile Selassie this pure sativa comes direct from the ancient land of Ethiopia in what we believe is a world first. Cultivated and inbred by his latter day followers in the city of Shashemene this sativa grows well at altitude and in cooler climates. Buds typically long sativa with visible resin droplets providing a clear energetic high. Plants are shorter, branched and stockier than the tall bushy southern african types. Should also do well indoors but not fully trialed yet.

Ghandruk Giant

pure nepali mountain sativa

location: annapurna national forest
village: ghandruk
elevation: 1940m
classification: giant bushy foxtail hashplant
aroma: sweet lavender, geranium, aftershave.
notes: found this one on the day of the chopdown, not many seeds, biggest hasplant ive ever seen.

Lao Highland

amazing jungle mountain sativa from the borderlands of lao/china/myanmar. immense vigor, mold resistance, and size. i collected these on my 2014 yunnan china and northern laos seed safari from muang sing akha tribal group women. most turn purple and have deep berry floral incense aromas, a less common green pheno has a hazy citrus nose. very expansive, clean, and energetic effect. should make amazing f1 hybrids with compact pure indica. big stretcher. one of the biggest plants I’ve come across. outdoor harvest nov-dec.

Malawi Gold

Characteristics: electric mind fire

Originally from african seeds stock, the now defunct old school purveyors of the finest south african heirlooms. These are an open pollination made by a friend from my previous filial selections.
Heres the original write up: Malawi Gold - Outdoor Famed by travelers across Africa for its potent ‘up high’ and mythical gold color. The sativa ganja tops are bound tightly in banana leaf and cured to form the well known Malawi ‘cob’. High yields from big buds loaded with THC. These are wild seeds selected from some of the most learned cannabis growers in Malawi.
(these are a small preservation release for this years outdoor season)

I remember seeing a bunch of ASS plants on a bigass fullterm farm in SLO county in 2016. I didn’t even know it was Appy Super Skunk until the end of the season. We just went out there and slapped a lotta ASS lol

sort of bad news from the genius thai… i tried new containers, and got really root bound… not sure if they started flowering on their own because of the root bound, but three started showing big pollen sacks/bananas/ whatever you might call em. so 3 confirmed males, the one that wasnt root bound im not sure what it is yet…

in which case… im thinking if i get one female, and by any chance it is a good one, any repro will be an S1… i dont got space for 3 males. unless anyone has any good stories breeding with the genius thai male…or knows if i should be looking for anything specific in the line/male

sorry @VAhomegrown

If they started full-on flowering when rootbound, you don’t want to use them anyway. I culled a bunch of Orange Creamsicle males that started flowering when rootbound. I still have one that’s been stable as fuck so I’m keeping it around to make seed with. My Prayer Tower male was pretty stable too. I’ve got 4 clones of him still.

Yeah, what VAhomegrown said. No matter the reason, if they started autoflowering, I don’t think you wanna be making seeds with them. That’s why a lot of the better breeders stress test their males, to look out for undesirable traits like that.

Anyway, here’s another Zap that turned out male (didn’t autoflower like one of the other ones did, just had normal male pre-flowers):

This was the one that I reeeealllyyyy had my eye on, pretty bummed it turned out male. Very cool “open” structure, nice NLD-type leaves, branchy… Looked like there were gonna be tons of bud sites, too.

So I’m down to one now, not even sure about that plant, but it’s getting transplanted into a seven-gallon today (along with everything else) despite the not knowing. Fingers crossed on that one.

There do seem to be very interesting and awesome plants in that Zap line, anyway. If I was a seed-making type of guy, I totally woulda used the male pictured above to pollinate… Well, I dunno what I woulda pollinated, but I woulda pollinated something haha.

Had anyone flowered out peach hashplant? My partner is looking for peach smell and was asking about it. Thank you

@Emeraldgreen Interested here as well, the smell of ripe peaches is heavenly for me. I’ve been dancing around doing a peach hunt for a while now and have one of these packs in my arsenal.

On a side note…

Last year I found a peach leaner while hunting (chem 91 x TK) x Peach OZ from Clearwater. It’s not straight peaches, it’s like peach syrup with chem funk on the backend. This is just in veg… Great structure, resilient as hell, low leaf ratio. She’s like a thick OG structure wise. I’m about to do a serious flower run with her for the first time. If you’d like to come along for the ride I’ll send you some snips.

Even if she ends up not being peach forward and the chem takes over in flower, there’s no way it’ll just go away in flower. Even if it does fade, would a TK or Chem learner with a peaches backend be so terrible?

I also have a pack of peach crescendo if you’re interested in a trade. I’ve decided I won’t be growing any of the ethos I have.

There’s a really really long story here that I won’t bore you all with. In short it’s a Silver Sunshine boy hitting up what was the survival of the fittest plant of a 150 outdoor fast photos. It outgrew the others, it shrugged off pests, it just kept plugging along. Then it produced one giant big bid after being pollinated from the moment she started flowering. Others that faced the same fate didn’t fare well and died or were culled. This one bud produced 50+ seeds (immature seeds not pictured). I had no plans when I dropped those beans, they were beans from instances where autos I was testing got hit with reg pollen.

I was going to cull the silver sunshine, that pack simply hadn’t stood up to the great outdoors as well as several other strains. Showed signs of mold issues early. Other packs, including @HolyAngel SSDD BX1 F2 and Blueberry Muffin x Vintage blueberry F2 were outshining them in all regards. But, after the early struggles a few bounced back nicely. One plant smelled great in veg, like cardamom and mint, I was sure it would be a girl. It wasn’t, but rather than culling it, that boy moved next door to the lone surviving girl.

Now I’m like, I should pop them! Despite having dozens of other projects in line, loads of polyhybrids and worked strains to test, and thousands in seeds, I’m currently most excited to see what this oddball marriage produces. Does anyone else have the sane affliction I do? I have a treasure trove of genetics, but it’s weird stuff like this that I’m often drawn to pop. I like bag seed bag seed and pollen chucks way too much :joy:

Haven’t experienced any legit stone fruit terps in cannabis would be so amazing to find something peachy that and mangos are my favorite with peaches beating it by a slim margin when ripe some peach hash rosin would be sublime making me drool thinking about it

I found holy angels ssdd bx to be real resilient outdoors glad to see others are seeing the same some really nice plants came of those

As for wanting to pop seeds like that I think there’s always a draw to unknowns like that because in the mind the possibility’s are more endless :joy:

Had to cull 2 Redeye Jedi & 1 Devil’s HP due to intersex issues. May have been my fault. There was a multi-hour power outage, cold nights, they are root-bound and have been subjecting them to other stresses as well. That leaves me with 6 :

Devil’s HP 1

Devil’s HP 2

Devil’s HP 3

Spirit HP 1

Spirit HP 2

Redeye Jedi 1

Always look forward to your posts @syzygy

You’re making me want to dip into a pack of one of the many OG kush x Ghash crosses I have.

Thanks & you probably wouldn’t regret it! I’ve really liked the og x 88 crosses I’ve tried so far. I think I heard in nspecta’s potcast interview that you can expect 10-15% of the offspring of OG crosses to have intersex issues. Don’t know how accurate that is but he’s run a lot more than me so I keep that in mind germinating any OG stuff to avoid being disappointed.

Thank you for the response. Keep me posted if you find anything. I’ll let you know if he finds anything as well.
I see if he’s interested in the peach crescendo. What are you looking for?
