Bodhi Guide - Seed and Strain Discussion (Part 1)

I like how the first post is a list of “OG cuts” and the actual OG Kush cut isn’t on it at all

It’s literally

  1. OG Cross
  2. S1
  3. S1
  4. S1
  5. S1
  6. S1
  7. S1
  8. Triangle Kush
  9. S1
  10. S1

:joy::rofl::joy::rofl:

If you can find a thread with more information about OG’s , from the people who were actually there, in it, I am all eyes. I didn’t share it for the list lol
A number of the people who posted in that thread are very highly respected , especially when it comes to OG’s.

Anyway just figured you folks might be interested in some good info . When I saw the subject come up.

To keep it somewhat Bodhi related . Here is a buncha Wolfpack F2 . A Black Triangle F2 , and an a cut of Apollo 11 F3

The Nature Farm submitted their Grass Valley OG to Phylos in 2018 (yes, results taken with a whole jar of salt there) and describes it like this:

“Mother is the Old 90s Pure Kush clone only out of Grass Valley, CA known as LA Pure Kush. She is a stout Hashplant type OG with all the traditional amenities. Plus added yield, enhanced growth, traditional gassed OG terpenes covered in black rubber and slightly skunked. The stone grabs you by the temples and doesn’t let go. Goes as KUSH or OG and predates many a cut. yield is above average”

It tested out in a clone group of five Pure Kushes all closely related to Bubba and clustered in the NorCal area, the other notable clones were from Kevin Jodrey at Wonderland Nursery (LA Pure Kush) and Humboldt Patient Resource Center (Pure Kush).

While we’re off topic, what does anyone know about the SFV og? That is just another clone only pheno of OG, right?

There’s already a thread on OG’s.

I think even if I hadn’t had the original 5haze and the chems it is a reasonable deduction.

There was only 1 or 2 places in the world to get seed at that time. '89-90 The first cannabis cups and the 5haze crushing it sending waves across the scene.

If you were a serious grower at that time, there was one line you were after. Pack lands and gets popped around '90 in with dog bud on production. Chem. I never smoked dog bud, but gas says it’s not where the chemmy comes into the profile.

I did smoke a very special cut of the original 5haze for years. I love the chem lines, but they are the la Croix of the best of original 5haze. It wasn’t even like hitting a smoke. It was a pine metal industrial compound. Not pine like all these pine BLD types. Piercing sharp coating tongue in fir needles and dank frankincense. In 30 years so, so many amazing new flavors, but nothing touches that.

The ones that come close are likely the ones that have it in its genetics peaking out as a little hint. How many brands and award winning likes are based off this first work…most all selected to the NL in one way or another for practicality, but the original was tricked to the trunk, calyx’s and glands 3-5 times oversized and those pistils…you can still see that fiery rust in the chems too.

Anyway. Most of it all are just many selections descendent of that first release, but still nothing like it…just wondering if of kush might too.:man_shrugging:t3:

Oh I super appreciate the link bro! Not trying to harass you or anything  Just couldn’t help but point that out :joy: There is indeed a TON of info in there about OG and her crosses ^^

Plants are looking awesome in there! :muscle:

That’s pretty interesting  The LA Pure Kush is the cut Notsodog hold’s. Also goes by Headband to make it more confusing :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

SFV is an S1. Basically, if you see an OG Kush cut and it’s not named Ghost or OG Kush, its more than 90% likely its a bagseed herm of OG or Triangle Kush. There were a few original beans that people got and found cuts in, sisters to OG and/or TK if the story is to be believed, but good luck figuring that out. Again, most of them are all s1 bagseed herms as people got the OG flower but never the cut. So they popped what they had.

I had 15 OG cuts back in the day, and im 98% sure everything that was just posted is completely false lol. Problem with OGs, is the people who never grew a bunch seem to have to strongest opinions lol

Relativity 100%. Bodhi’s is one of my favorite breeders!

His selections of Appalachian and then Wookie have a clean pallette cleansing quality that carries everything he works with it so well. It is closer to the chem metal winter of the type that is deeper in the line than most selections of similar parents I have had.

What do you think is false exactly? That they’re almost all s1 bagseeds? That’s pretty provable on a lot of them… there’s a few that are possible renames like Tahoe or Larry but no proof they’re the original.

I think its 98% renames, and the S1 idea is more outcrosses. Cuz with all those cuts getting ran over and over, I had 0 bagseed ever. If it was so prolific, Im either the hard outlier, or the theory isn’t so solid lol.
But I also knew dudes growing 1000s of lbs of OG a month. Still no bagseed to be found lol. With 15 cuts I saw 2 themes. 1 that everything was two structures smaller single cola and real squat, and the more jumpy with no colas. 2 a range from pine to gassy. Then there were what everyone called “sweet ogs” that were no doubt outcrosses, but they all still had that standout structure. Or very possible they could have changed from climate. But I was bringing in OGs from allll over Norcal, and the differences were like minuscule.

All in all, I think the S1 theory is flawed based on how similar everything is. Not like S1 similar, like literally I got the same exact cut 6-7 times under different names. And I kid you not, they all had the same funny backstory. “got this from dude who kept it super tightly held for decades, and noone else has it. and you cant give cuts out” when I got it from 5 other people lol. The rename game is so much more prevalent than people wanna believe. And its a better story that there are lots of magic phenos, when it’s just a couple really.

I had Skywalker OG which was a lighter Blackberry Kush which was a lighter Tahoe OG which was a lighter Goji OG which is a lighter Garlic Kush which was a lighter Kosher Kush which was a lighter Purple Kush which was a lighter Orange Kush

All this past year.

Really? 98% renames? I don’t think that fits for most of them  All the descriptions and looks are slightly different and it ain’t just environmental. I could agree with them being crosses though.

As to the bagseed issue and you not seeing it… idk what to tell you. OG is known for herming. The hollywood pure kush is a herm fest. Nepali og is a herm fest. FaceOff crosses herm and it was from a bagseed. Pretty sure FireOG was from a bagseed if I remember right… Countless OG crosses posted here have hermed, and more than a couple OG cuts. There are stable ones to be found sure. The Triangle Kush is stable too. Maybe you got the stable ones or you just know how to keep em happy over there.

A huge thank you to @syzygy for sending me f2’s of his sunshine daydream bubbashine pheno so I can hunt for something like my beloved SSDD “butter” pheno I lost years back. I’m excited!!

I’ll be sure to post pics of their progress here on OG.

That’s awesome and very generous.

Sure was! I will be sure to pay it forward.

I plan to make more seeds of the SSDD and keep mothers of anything good.

IMO thats the most likely for the range. Cuz Ive known folks that did huge breeding projects with OGs, and from all Ive seen, those outcrosses really lean heavy on the OG side. And for 10 years everyone was crossing everything to OG, so undoubtedly theres lots of range. And EVERYONE who made OG crosses slapped that OG at the end of the name. only making it more confusing.

Yeah I totally get it, but man I hear that and just think people got fakes or renames lol. And stuff like NepaliOG for example, not a pure OG. I had several Fire OGs under different names, no herm. TK, no herm. But I can only speak to commercially popular cuts. A lot of these names Im seeing poppin up I cant speak to. Cuz noone was growin them around me. Not to say they dont exist, I just dont wanna speak to something I have no experience with in person.

When your clone chasing, somehow everyone has the real thing, yet noone has it. Ive not seen a realass OG cut in person since like 2019 when all the big croppers were droppin them for gelato remakes. So were talking about folks growin a name of a thing that countless people(myself included) tossed years ago. So just on a baseline, how do we know whats legit? Even quoting notsodog, he has admitted to being arrested, so he doesnt have a clear line of lineage. Cuz holding a cut doesnt count if you have to get it back. Which really muddies up his whole backstory. So theres all these massive holes in lineage, yet the real ones are all still around? I have a real hard time believing that. Cuz “trust me bro” isnt quite good enough for me lol.
