I don’t find that it’s hard to find lineage from bodhi strains. It’s just his names can be confusing, basically he runs elite males he has selected to a lot of clone only’s, and some land races. It’s been a while since I researched his strains and a few of the dads are dead now.
I’ve only run some Appalachian crosses the dad is rip, and one snow lotus cross rip. I think g13 88hash plant still alive and Wookiee 15? Some crosses are from old strains that we don’t have a full background. I ran bingo pajama which is Moët x Appalachian. The Moët is a green pheno apparently from the early days of the gdp breeding project. Seedfinder can be reliable for lineage except there are some discrepancies over say og strains. The consensus is now that og came from Florida via Seattle. In what was known as crippy (kryptonite) which was a pretty broad term for good weed back then I’m told.
But there are some guys who have come out of closet now and told there story of getting what is now known as triangle kush to California.
But some confusion can come from these old strains.
I am still confused about the lineage of his g13-88 hash plant. I think bodhi got it from ndn guy who Inbred it and stabilised it. The confusion to me is whether it is pre 91 or not because of the mr nice Monica which would have been added after the dronkers bought the seed bank from Neville shoenmackers in 91. Now the mr nice could be still the same plant, but I’ve also heard of a lot of old cats probably 10-15 years ago trying to obtain this strain from sensi and complaining it’s not what I bought first time around. I’ve experienced a slightly similar scenario when I told a pal to grow sensi shiva skunk as it was some of the best erb I’ve grown. The offering he grew was not the same at all the indica was more Afghan kush than my experience of the northern lights.
From what I remember NDN got it from someone else before he passed some to Bodhi.
I’ll dig more into it. But I believe I heard it in a podcast, possibly from Matt Riot that it’s from after 88 possibly 89-90 but don’t quote that
NDNguy made the 88g13hp strain. He talks about it in THIS VERY THREAD! Post# 82.
Kinda sounds like someone else made it?
Yeah good call. Thanks for catching that! He calls it an F1 but maybe he’s referring to the seeds he was given, and then he furthered the line? I know @Barefrog has been continuing the line as well from the early seeds he got from NDNguy.
I ran this as well, and I really liked it. Super crazy smells. I also ran a few Kudra x snow lotus. I think I liked the bingo pajamas better, but they both had terps for days.
Ok like I said it’s the inclusion of mr nice that confused me, but there is also a chance when the mr nice was added as respect to Howard marks it could have still been same plant? But it wasn’t the same plant when a few old heads decided to buy it again. I probably only started smoking around 89 and except for northern lights, Durban poison and some skunk #1 which came from different contact, we were smoking black hash maroccan or red beard. There was some shit that was coming through with the maroccan seeded crap. And I did acquire some nice Columbian brick weed that had been lifted from a warehouse along with couple of 9 ounce bricks of 50% seeded maybe North African. The Columbian 2 of the bricks were fine the third had mold think it was dropped of coast. I gave the mouldy brick to friend who mistook I wanted a small drink if he could move it, to I was just gifting you live and learn. I also had a few links to some very good Caribbean and African weed that I had to give to certain factions as the area I had moved to was very white and had things sewn up. I’d moved away and made trip back with some good quality maroccan mirror bar which I’d say is more like polm but poorer quality little dryer like ketama. The local dealers put out word I was selling henna when there soap bar was far more bunk.
I risked upsetting the guy got the mirror off as he tried giving me black that was not clean. I just told him can’t sell it bro no deal. But some of the weed I was getting from my black and South American friends was best I was getting except for some manali bought back in snooker cue cases
Yeah sorry kudra. Is the name coming from same book as bingo pajama.
My bingo photos are on this thread I think? Or funk junky introduces.
I also grew sunshine #4 and jabbas stash
It’s my understanding Moet and Kudra are one in the same.
Pretty sure G13 x HP was a Sensi Seeds creation.
G13 x 88 hash plant was a creation of Neville. Neville sold the seed bank to Ben dronkers in 91as he needed funds to fight the USA extradition warrant. Ben added mr nice to the name post 91. Ben added mr nice to the description not the original breeder. Some time between 91 and 2000, some people that bought the original were complaining this is not same plant! Ben and Alan dronkers respect but there children have not the same passion
Neville did ship the g13 clone back to USA. Jim Ortega received received a cut which I’ve seen a photo of in his hand. The original g13 cut lost vigour and was preserved by crossing to skunk. The g13 haze was done earlier and holds its own probably more.
The airborne is another route. It’s like nl5 there was only one nl5 that made the grade. There were more keepers of the other northern lights apparently but one shone through
Anyone ever heard of Sproutways? They list several Bodhi strains with both 5 packs and 10 packs for sale. They popped up on my radar after I saw a small seedbank advertising a Bodhi pre-sale where there were 5 & 10 packs of seeds, with Sproutways listed along with Bodhi.
Never heard of it, but I’m looking at it now. They list some strains a little funny. Like Snowhigh’s BlackBerry Spacewreck is listed “Black Russian & Arcata Trainwreck (x) (Acapulco Gold x C99).” His Heroine cross is listed “Herijuana & Pure Kush (x) Uzbekistani.” Etc etc. Kinda weird. I dunno what’s up with that ampersand or putting the “x” in parentheses. Shit like that always makes me a little leery…
Edit: Bodhi’s gear is priced pretty normally, but I’ve never seen Snowhigh’s gear priced that low.
they’re legit. They’re supposed to be working with Kagyu, Snowhigh and Bodhi to bring landrace, heirloom and unique strains to commercial and home growers. Nice video of Bodhi in there too. Never knew he had gauges . He’s such a kind human.
@minitiger the owner of Sproutways seems like a cool dude. I listened to a podcast where he was on. He’s from Southeast Asia and doesn’t particularly have a background in cannabis or breeding so that’s where those lineage typos come from
A lot of those packs are super-interesting. What’s up with @intentionalmisuse saying he’d recommend Bodhi “9/10” times, though? If he sent me a “care package” like that, I’d be recommending him 10 outta 10 times. Shit… I do that already haha.
Gotcha. I finally found the words on their site that made it all click. “METRC compliant”
They’re basically a middle-man between traditional seed banks and the “legal market” when there’s a requirement to only obtain seeds from a licensed company so they can be tracked from seed to flower.
I remember watching that Bodhi video a while back but didn’t realize it was a specific commercial company that put it out.
Black Triangle is in stock there.
If you go to sproutways site “Meet the breeders behind sproutways” and scroll down, there is a video statement by bodhi. It’s very cool to hear his philosophy, check it out:
