The highest paid running back makes over $17 million a year. The highest paid cornerback makes almost $22 million per. Highest paid edge rusher makes OVER $30 million. Highest DT is at $31.6 million. Per year. To play football.
These guys all play…what, about 5 minutes of action, maybe, per game. So a little over an hour, per year.
Not sure what you’re making, but that ain’t “crap money”.
Yes but that’s the highest paid. Players go all the way down to needing a second job to survive in some cases. They severely over pay some people to play games and severely under pay a shit ton more of them. When it comes to football just the practices alone put a whole lot of stress on a body. Even those who get out ok tend to develop all sorts of problems later in life. IMO tickets should be much cheaper, nobody should be earning over 10 million to play a game and all sports leagues need lifetime medical coverage for their players.
Rookies from this NFL draft class will be paid a minimum $705,000 a year. That’s not bad money for playing a game. I know pro sports puts a hurtin’ on your body. My nephew played in the NHL. He was a backup goalie and had a decent career bookended with two stints in the KHL. In ONE of those KHL seasons he earned more money than I’ve made in my life.
I agree with you tickets should be cheaper. I’ve stopped going to pro sports because I just think it’s ridiculous what you pay for tickets. I’ll stick with junior hockey for my sports fix.
LOL, not a fan bud. I get that armchair warriors fuel the game living vicariously though others but not my thing. Don’t watch sports. Played Hockey, Football, Wrestled and did track but that’s when I was younger. When one breaks their back in their early 20’s they are less likely to pursue professional sports.
That could very well do it. Yep.
I loved to play football but never got into watching other people play the game. It just made me wish I was out there tossing folks around. I wrestled in High School. That was fun, but the school I went to didn’t have a football team. Dang, our graduating class was only 45 kids. lol
I hear you there, I am the same way, never got into being a spectator. They pushed me into any physical sport they could apparently trying to calm me down but it never worked. I didn’t mind wrestling and was even pretty good making it all the way to division finals but I never went to one practice so in the end I was out classed by someone who put in the work. They liked me in Football cause I was good at hitting folks. I was tall so they had me running the mile and also doing shot put. Hell now I am just happy when I can put my pants on in the morning without making that grunting sound, lol.
