I have a nice harvest coming up in a few weeks. Still going to be too hot here to dry just hanging in a room.
I go 15 days @ 60/60.
Putting a 4x4 Tent in a small room, backing to a window i just fit a good quality room A/c unit into. Gonna cut a hole in tent, fit it around a/c unit and with a dehumidifier (which i will vent out of Tent) dry this way. Should work well.
Gotta figure on doing something to insulate the tent. @ 20 cents a kilowatt hour, i dont wanna spend more on the dry/cure than the bud would cost me to buy, lol!
I thought about the hard 4x8 sheets of insulation board, built grow rooms in my attic a decade ago with them. Fitted inside .
Or should i use the big pink rolls of insulation?
Figure it is going to need insulation to not have the A/c running constantly.
What y’all think i should do? Not many other options to me. Looks like still be high 80’s during the dry.
Not gonna quick dry or anything crazy.
I’d be worried about getting insulation dust on the buds. Foam boards should work well, or maybe throw a tarp and a few blankets over the tent? With the boards you could probably set it up so you don’t have to cut the tent, so that’s a bonus.
Is the dehuey going to be inside or outside of the tent? Only asking bc those can kick out some heat resulting in the AC perhaps running more than expected. What’s the temp like in the room the tent will be in? You can easily get away with 70ishF/60RH and will save some coin if that’s a concern if you can get a closet, small room, etc. dialed in.
Foam boards would be easier but more expensive. Rolls of pink are fairly cheap. I just did blow in insulation recently in an attick and was pricing the different options out and the pink rolls were the cheapest next to the blow in but that’s not an option for your use.
The ac itself will remove humidity from the air if the compressor is running.
Had a tent set up in an attic…
I recently cooled down that tent by running 30plus foot of 4 inch flex aluminum duct [extra from my fan n filter] from my AC into one of the ports on my tent. Duct taped one end over the vent of the ac to have the cold air move directly into a tent I had in the back room. Ambient room temp was high 90fs due to summer. But the tent stayed at 75f roughly. Had a humidifier and dehumidifier on stand by, but didn’t need them as the Ac kept the humidity low, so I’d leave the bottom flaps open to allow some warm air in… kept it around 75f and 60 rh…
If I would close the bottom flap my temperature would drop as well as the humidity and in that case I would have used the humidifier but I played with it enough and monitored it for a few days until I got it dialed in
It was more of an experiment than anything but I figured out it worked well lol
10 minutes ago i closed up the room, set A/C to 60. Just checked, A/C off room 58 degrees. NOT gonna talke much it appears to insulate the small 4x4. It is getting into the 60’s at nighty here. 80 degree’s right now, had no trouble cooling whole room(maybe 10 x 10) New unit, high effiency desoigned for a bigger room. Already had it , used it for camping
Maybe shoot for 70 in the heat of the day.
May save some money that way.
Totally your call there.
When things start to get dry watch em they will dry pretty fast in the AC.
Dedicated dry room is a must have. I still need to build one
I just use my tin box once the grows done but they never all finish on time and I’ve got a makeshift tarp and rope with the early finishers hanging.
