Here’s my White OG cut at 21f. I will be pollinating her this week with Sweet n Sour Cindy pollen c/o @DougDawson . This being my first attempt at “pollen chucking”, I’m eager to start this project!
Rounding up the update is Punch n Pie from Ethos at around 50f (can’t remember exact date and I don’t have my calender in front of me) in the back. And a Gorilla Girl around 36f.
Please pardon the botanological jargon, but I do believe she’s knocked up. With child. Gravid. You know… Preggers!
I absolutely can’t wait to do my first seed giveaway!
Thanks again, @DougDawson . This is the most excited I’ve been about my grow in a while. And that’s really saying something, since I’m always pretty excited about my grow.
First, the bad news. Both of the SSDD F2 from @syzygy turned out to be male. I was sure the second one was female but it turned out it was just a little later to show itself.
I also ended up having to harvest the Punch n Pie at 70 days. I didn’t get any pics because it was done pretty unexpectedly. While inspecting, I noticed some bud rot peeking out of one of the tops. I lost most of the tops, unfortunately, but all of the lower buds are good. Here’s a shot of one of the buds I quick dried in the HerbsNow. It tastes like a nondescript fruit. Cherry-ish but not cherry, with a funky, fuely, chem note to it as well. Pretty pleasant.
In brighter news, I popped a Mayberry from @Blue_Star_Seed_Co this past weekend. This thing popped open in less than 24 hours after the soak/paper towel. Definitely the quickest germination I’ve seen so far.
The Blueberry Lemon Shakeup from Blue Star is at 30 days from the seed getting wet, got flipped to 12/12 schedule last night. She has been super easy and vigorous from the start. She got a little crinkly when I moved her from CFL to full blast LED, but seems to be recovering well. Typically I ease them into it a little better but I thought I could get away with it. Live and learn.
The Ghost Train Haze x End Game is looking and smelling awesome at 44f. We had a little mishap with her when I had an unplugged pump that I was unaware of. She got pretty dried out about a week ago but bounced back nicely. She was showing a pretty hard “claw” right after but that seems to be improving quickly.
Finally, the “Kimdracula” cut of the White OG, pollinated with Sweet n Sour Cindy from the good Mr. Dawson, is looking phenomenal at 43f. I pollinated her a second time on May 21.
@Hotrods_and_hounds , I basically use the setup recommended and described over at cocoforcannabis.
Several years ago when I was struggling figuring things out, I found that site, and used it as a great jumping off point in my cannabis adventures. I also had good results with their auto draining saucers.
That said, my curiosity has been heavily piqued by @Papalag and a few others, about the Octopot system. I can’t help but wondering if that may be a little better suited to my busy life, etc. I’ll eventually get around to giving them a shot. I was about ready to make a purchase, then my central AC went out on Friday. Guess where my extra cash is going this weekend.
The AC went out at home last week so everyone got pretty hot and humid for several days. They seemed to handle it well, but with all of the open windows, etc. I’m pretty paranoid about bugs at the moment. Fingers crossed.
The GTHxEG3 (55f) is starting to get floppy. The squeezed buds smell really nice but I can’t quite put a descriptor to it. Vaguely fruity/berry smells with an odd note of plastic or something like that. Hard to pin down…
Finally is the Gorilla Girl from Sweet Seeds (~71f). I’ve grown this variety before and it was very lemony and finished around 60 days or so. This time it’s flowering quite slowly and the smell is purely funky. It’s a pungent fuel/chemical nastiness that has me very intrigued. And she’s just covered in buds.
I haven’t done much yet. I recently built this rosin press, but I’ve only done a handful of flower presses to get the hang of things. I want to try a dry ice/bubble bag collection next and press that.
Send me yours specs bro!
I’ve been wanting to build one. Just don’t know where to start with the shopping list.
I make butter, tinctures, and RSO mostly.
I used to bubble a lot back in the day. Gonna try it again soon, considering @JoeCrowe has shown me how it’s really done! Lol
I usually make rice krispie treats or carmels with the butter. Then use my family and friends as lab rats.
No time for a full update but I had to share these pics. I harvested the White OG that had been pollinated with Sweet n Sour Cindy from @DougDawson . It was six weeks from her last pollination.
Also wanted to thank you for the suggestion of a magnetic stirrer - hasn’t solved my issue with sediment 100% but has definitely saved a lot of time and results are better than hand mixing.
I got a whopping four seeds. I’m not 100% sure where I went wrong. My guess is that I didn’t wait long enough before spraying the plant down. I only did around 10 hours, rather than the recommended 24 hours. Til next time. Live and learn.
Shout out to @Blue_Star_Seed_Co for the next two plants. First up is the Blueberry Lemon Shake-up. I’ve never grown anything that looks or smells anything like this. Pungent doesn’t begin to describe the smell. It is intensely fragrant. Up until very recently the smell was a nasty, almost bitter, acrid smell. Vaguely similar to the pith of an unripe lemon. But in the last couple days, the sweet hints of blueberries are starting to peak through.
She has lots of three-lobed leaves, which I’ve never seen before. So cool.
Next up, also from Blue Star Seed Co., is Mayberry. I’ve never seen a plant stretch this heavy after flipping. The growth rate was phenomenal. No strong aroma yet but I’ve never grown anything with serrations like this before. My pics absolutely don’t do this plant justice. She’s so cool looking.
