Busy dad's happy place

Hey, fellow weed nerds. Thanks for checking out my grow.

As a busy dad with limited time and money, I like to keep things cheap and easy, while still supplying top shelf herb for my wife and myself.

I generally grow DTW in 70/30 coco perlite with Jack’s 3-2-1 system and RO water (auto watering system with a total of 7 waterings a day) with Silica (Armor Si or Silica Blast), Diamond Nectar and a bit of powdered yucca as wetting agent. I run at ~1.5 EC (~725 ppm), which, after looking around at some of the other grows here, I could stand to bump up. But I get great results and good weight, so who knows. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it? With the above mix, my pH is around 6.1 consistently.

I almost always mainline or manifold my plants in some way.

I grow under a mix of MarsHydro TS1000 and ViparSpectra XS1500 across my three tents. I have 1 - 2x4’ clone/seedling/veg tent with a singleTS1000, 1 - 3x3’ flower tent with 3 fixtures, and 1 - 4x4’ flower tent with 4 fixtures. Why all the small lights? I couldn’t afford much starting off, so I just slowly added lights as I could.

Currently in the 4x4 is a White OG (Seedsman) keeper that I call Kimdracula (54f)…

Kimdracula legs

Kimdracula bud shot

…and two Cream Caramels (Sweet Seeds). The one on the right got stunted when I topped a bit too heavily, and a little too late. The one on the left is her clone, that I ended up leaving in a 1 gal.

The tent floor needs a solid scrubbing after this round. I had an overflow issue when my waste pump failed recently.

In my 3x3’ is another clone of the Kimdracula, about 30 days behind the above tent.

And in the veg tent is a monster of a Mohan Ram (Sweet Seeds) that is ready for flipping as soon as the 4x4 opens up. She’s the first plant I’ve ever up-potted to 5 gallons. This was purely due to poor timing on my part. I had no intentions of vegging so long.

as well as her clone (closest in the pic) and a clone of the Kimdracula behind her.

I have two grow goals (groals?) for 2024. They are (1) to start learning more about, and dabbling in crossing plants, or pollen chucking, to use the parliance of our time  for my own personal fun and education. And (2)to get a proper perpetual grow started. I’ve read BOG’s guide and plan to implement something based around that schedule and see how that works.

I think that about covers it. I’ll try to keep this updated as often as possible, which may not be very often. But I’m thrilled to be a part of this community. Thanks so far for all of the warm welcomes!

Nice looking plants you have there. I’m just trying my hand with Jacks 321 tap version thou. So it will me good to see your progress and production in the days ahead.

Nice, I like your setup! Will be watching along, best of luck :green_heart:

Thanks! A while back I tried their Jack’s RO formula and had terrible results. Their standard 5-12-26 works wonders for me though!

Here’s an update on the happy place.

The White OG (65F) and the stunted Cream Caramel (67F) got the chop on the 10th.

Here’s a couple bud shots of “Kimdracula”, the White OG

Her beautiful fall colors are hard to get a great pic of.

A stubby little branch of the Cream Caramel…

The flowers on the Cream Caramel are a bit on the fluffy side. But the White OG has heavy, dense flowers. Here’s the “Kim” harvest.

I got a little over 10 oz. from her the last time she had half the tent, so I’m hoping for around the same.

The “Kim” cut in the 3x3 is looking happy at ~36F.

This beast of a Mohan Ram is finally in her 4x4, ready to explode. Notice the remaining Cream Caramel, sadly relegated to the back corner of the tent.

Next week, I’ll be starting my first seeds for a perpetual grow schedule, which I’m quite excited about. Updates on that soon. Also, I’m getting ahead of myself a bit, but I’ve gotten work underway for my future rosin press! I’ve got quite a way to go but progress is progress.

After much deliberation, I’ve decided on the seeds to start this weekend.

I’ll be popping one Punch n Pie fem (Durban x Punchline) from Ethos…

And one Thunder Rose reg from OG’s very own @JohnnyPotseed

My plan is to start one fem and one reg photo seed every two weeks, with the fem moving to flower after ~30 days, while the reg gets cloned, sex tested, etc. then incorporated into the cycle as determined female. I’ve never done a perpetual grow but BOG’s plan seems sound. I’m looking forward to giving it a go!

Perpetual grow/harvest is definitely the way to go, as far as I’m concerned lol Been doing it that way for a couple decades now. before, it always seemed to be feast or famine, if ya get my drift! lol Harvest would give up a good bit, but it was always down to the dregs(or gone) by next harvest. Plant count or space can limit the numbers, but we usually flip into flower mode anywhere from 2-5 plants every couple weeks., depending on whether I plan on pollinating any. Good luck in getting a gal outta the TR!

Thank you, sir! The fem I’ll be popping in two weeks will be a Frankenstein. I can’t wait!

Nice setup and lovely flowers @Trimeresurus . When I did DWT with frequent fertigation I was pushin EC2.1 and managed to grow some trees.

I hated dealing with the runnoff tho. So i repurposed my exterior reservoir into a syphon system for the octopo/sub irrigationt style grow. Still managing to fill my 3x3 tent and only running EC1.3. I kept one mixing pump in the rez that runs for 30min a day. Jacks/Peter’s Excell works great. zero runoff.

Here’s an overdue grow update.

The Poison N Punch, and the Thunder Rose are 14 days from getting the seeds wet and looking great. The Thunder Rose is blowing the PNP out of the water, growth-wise. Between that and the fact that it’s the first regular (non-fem) seed I’ve ever popped, I’m sure it’s going to be a male.

The Mohan Ram looks very happy, and at 19F, is starting to smell floral, and lightly musky. I couldn’t put my finger on the “floral” note but Mrs. Trimeresurus smells lilac. It’s very bright, summery and pleasant. For lack of a less cheesy sounding description, the smell is enchanting.

The White OG in my 3X3 is heavy and getting floppy. She’s at 55F and will be ready in ~10 days.

And, finally, this weekend’s round of seed pops are a Gorilla Girl fem (Sweet Seeds) freebie, and Peanut Butter Breath F3 (Brothers in Farms) reg. They got a soak for several hours then popped into rapid rooters in coco. I love seeing those little gals break the surface. Can’t wait!

I’m particularly excited about the PBB for a couple reasons. 1. I’ve been wanting to try this strain for a while. I love weird tasting herb and the description of these sounds right up my alley. 2. If it turns out to be male, I’m extremely tempted to try my first pollen chuck.

Based on nothing but a gut feeling, from the first time I read about PBB, I’ve wondered what a cross with my cut of the White OG would be like. I don’t expect anything particularly amazing from my first willy-nilly cross. Nor do I have a mission or breeding goal with this cross. What I do have, however, is the desire to better understand how the process works, and to have some fun doing it. I’m sure I’ll make mistakes, but that’s the fun of it. I’m getting ahead of myself. We’ll see what happens.

Just a quick, belated update on the tents.

I’ve gotten so many different amazing genetics on OG in the last few months that I’ve decided to only grow OG gear for the foreseeable future. The exception to that being my White OG cut that I like so much. But the caveat there is that I will be crossing her with some Sweet n Sour Cindy pollen that I won from the very generous, @DougDawson .

This recently rooted clone has been flipped and will be pollenated soon. This will be my first “pollen chuck”, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! I’m eagerly awaiting my first seed giveaway.

The Thunder Rose turned out to be a male, so it headed to the compost. However, it was the first reg seed/male that I’ve ever grown, so that was exciting. I’ll try another one soon. Thanks, @JohnnyPotseed

Here are two Sunshine Daydream F2 seedlings from @syzygy , that I’m quite excited about. Hoping for a lady!

I was tremendously fortunate enough to win the amazing 4/20 giveaway by @Blue_Star_Seed_Co so I plan on popping those very soon and will update more regularly in the future. Possibly with better looking photos!

Thanks, OG. I sure love this place!
