Stumbled upon some info about the major pathways of cannabinoid production and geeked out and wanted to share something about its production and degradation by presenting a diagram:
CBGA → THCA → CBDA → CBCA –––––––––– Organic Production
↓ ↓ ↓ ↓
CBG THC/V CBD/V CBC –––––––––– Chemical Degradation
↓
CBNA
↓
CBN
CBGA is the precursor for each other major cannabinoid, producing each acidic cannabinoid as part of a naturally occurring process, which break down into active cannabinoids—and THC into CBNA then CBN—by heat. Surprisingly, all of these cannabinoids have therapeutic potential.
On an additional note, Delta 8 and Delta 10 are simply one atom shifted from THC, have effects that are respectively described as more sativa-like and more indica-like, and are naturally produced in small amounts but are also synthetically produced with chemically using THC or CBD.
Anyway, hope this info is interesting to someone haha
