Canbreed announced in August it had reached a license agreement with Corteva Agriscience and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard to use the gene editing software.
Israel does not regulate plants that have undergone gene editing and in the U.S. most plants edited using CRISPR tech are not considered GMO products according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration. However, a 2018 E.U Court of Justice opinion essentially banned crops edited with CRISPR.
In a research paper titled ‘Weed for Speed; The case for legalising Cannabis Sativa’ the researchers claim that copying Jamaican habits such as their dance styles or even wearing Jamaican flag themed bracelets or bandanas will not help Kenya produce sprinters. Rather, the researchers argue, Kenyans must be allowed to grow, sell and liberally consume marijuana for sports reasons.

Some cannabis companies argue that they cannot climb to profitability if people are allowed to grow weed at home. So it is possible, depending on which lobbying efforts sway lawmakers first, that we could see a time when home pot gardens are banned everywhere.
