Cannabis Fermentation

This cobbing thing, they always look like they’d taste so smooth, no harsh coff, throat burn, yet still pack a euphoric punch. Yes, no?

Excuse me @Pigeonman, you just pushed a Button this morning ! Lol
I found your Pole Dancer… cheers Bud

2022 / 2023 *cobbs were made at 2oz ea., then sous-vid. After inspection (no mold or rot) they were broken in half ~ 1oz ea., for the 2nd step, re-wrapped and a long slow stew.
Thats how those samples were prep’d & shared

Lol thats too funny
Morning @Pigeonman
I’m BOOSTING RH% on a Jar of HAWAIIAN SNOW as I type (carrots).
Shooting for 70% rh on the Buds over 24hrs, that’s the plan.
Carrots have an immediate impact and are adding real moisture; jar burp, tumble the content & walk away. RH Meter is needed for this one
Should have it in Step 1. Sous-Vid & Cooking for tomorrow after Lunch

60gr @ 60% to start.

Buds do Not stick to the carrots

Let me bounce this off of You @Pigeonman @US3RNAM3

I am thinking that if we are indeed successful in manipulating / maintaining the RH% ahead of Cobbing, this step could be key, in removing any previous Harshness in the Cobbs

By allowing the Buds to have a normal planned Cure, ahead of Cobbing… we are now allowing all the Chlorophyll etc to be removed and the flavour / smell to develop properly!!

In previous years its been Grab Fresh “Moist” bud, and do it!

This might take it up a notch in a bunch of ways… get Buds just right ie: Cured, Then boost & equalize the rh so there is Liquid to Ferment; Cobb away.

There’s only one way to find out :grin::grin:

My understanding is that re-wetting after it’s dried/cured doesn’t allow for the same magick to happen but maybe the technique was off? Cause I think they do similar practice of rewetting with tobacco

Re-Wetting; Thanks @US3RNAM3 for that term. Hung for 11 days in 60-65% rh. Only 4 days into cure now.

Wonderful timing and for-sure, the Herb re-wetting is in progress.

That, harshness i feel was a constant… if we can add flavour and remove any harsh aspects, I’ll take a chance on that.
Trippy stuff, bring it on anytime

I used 24 hr old buds in one . Dryed bud with a wet bud in between, and dryed bud with a spot of beer on it. Picture is dryed one with a fresh bud in center.

3 weeks in .

I’m running this strain now. I haven’t thought to Cob it. I did a bunch of research on cobbing 2 years ago.

I asked this before and didn’t get an answer.
What does this do to the high or smokability of the bud???
Do you see Rattlesnake ninja’s riding 30 lb Mexican Hairless dogs or what?
Joking of course. But just what the hell does it do that makes it worth the effort involved?

Thank you in advance for any response I might get.

It lets you control the development of effects in different directions, depending Ofcourse on the inherent effects found.

I’m still looking and learning as well @MoBilly. The concept is great; everything into the cobb, and the process makes them all into 1, is a fair way of saying it.

The inherent moisture, gets cooked and becomes mobil within the sealed cobb, sharing the wealth evenly as it were.

The extended long n low cooking stage has been reported as Adding things to the buzz… like the elders stuffed the cobbs in Piles of fresh excrement and carcasses etc. Fermentation is the actual Process and we know how Grapes like it.

My own efforts have me challenging this inherent harshness that I’ve noticed in the past. Even crumbled like a Hash into other smoke, its been seen as a boost…

More people making little turds this season, we’ll have to get an Americano one sent your way…

Thanks for the explanation man. Very much appreciated. I’ve been reading about it a lot but nobody has really explained what sort of difference in high that you might receive from the process. :+1:t3:
So it’s mainly the same that the regularly cured flower would deliver but with a more focused flavor palette and possibly a slightly stronger high.

Man this thread is bringing back most pleasant memories, early 2000’s east coast central Florida someone was bringing in some Beautifully fermented bud probably started as midsy but after going through whatever the process was came out the other side super smooth, with a clearheaded / slightly trippy high that if overindulged would send you into a whitewash

I wonder if you could go to the dispo (disclaimer: as i’ve said in here many times, i am not a grower, not enuf guts to do it, and i’m too old), and cob the nugs they sell at the dispo? If anybody’s tried that i’d sure like to hear their story, please.

I’ve pressed samples I got from dispos and got some really nice rosin outa it.

I’d imagine we’ll all find out once @MissinBissin does his test running the cured flower lifted to higher RH% and then cobbed.

Fuck I have so much flower i’ll prob run a test too… but next round of cobbs are with the leftovers outside on my Limed-Orange plant… the flowers didn’t rot out and they are dark due to the temp shift!

Should make for some primo cobbs if I’m not wrong about them not being spoiled yet.

Edit: @3bombedmice there’s 50$ oz’s here in S.ont for indigenous retailers… i’d imagine it’s 100% worth the try at a $50 oz.

well, that’s good news, man. we’re averaging probly 30/8th here. I have seen ounces for probably 80 to 100 bux each. I’d probly do a quarter oz or something, dunno yet. It’s not that i’m cheap, but i go to dispo and buy a lot of 8 balls, for variety to find something i like. And of course, u can’t buy more than an OZ at a purchase, it’s the law, yanno. It’s been impossible to find anything up until last summer. I’m very interested in this cobbing thing.

hmm, another prob i have, part of why i’m not growing, is the stank. I can’t have stank where i live. but the cobs aren’t cooked, cured or smelly, they’re wrapped in parchment and seal a meals. I dunno, i’ll have to go back and re-read the instructions. by golly if i can w/o smell, i’ma do it.

U have to lift the RH, right? i just read a thread on doing that w/those ceramic red clay tiles that u soak in boiling water, then place in the bag, with a humidity monitor.

The assumption that intrigues me is that it’ll taste smooth, and no harshness. Almost all the stuff i buy, nugs or vapes, burns my damn throat. Then more than half the time, with dispo smoke, the high is mid at best.
