Yah I originally thought it was like fish scales! At 4XObj it’s hard to make out, but under 10X the details slide into focus and you can see they are individual trichomes, packed as tight as can be. As things go on I’ll get some better photos of them just emerging from a bud growth! That’s the image I need to see, LOL!!! I think… if I focus on the pre-flowers and dissect them each day, as they grow, I can get a shot.
OK I have some interesting photos of the dissolved hash. You can see partially dissolved cores and other strange things! I made a series of photos of a small interface area, between the re-solidified material and the hash mass.
I’ve often wondered if the fractal-like nature of reality is just a product of our human imagination. No matter how far we zoom out or zoom in, it all looks the same in the end.
I’m seriously hoping the super best friends drop off a lovely package for me to analyze. Fuuuuuuuck I am thirsting to analyze freeze dried hash. From the legal production. Just over there points to the road Can’t wait to see how much it puffs up in a bottle. Ohh they better not be saying that just for kicks, I got my hopes up!!!
admittedly that first photo is not my best work, but you can see how they have changed over a couple days. Oh shit! WTF is that on the bottom of the third photo! Computer enhancement fucked up.
The trichomes are huge! out of control!!! heh heh You can see the color is up the stalk quite a ways now. Day 56 they are looking goooooood! Not harvest time yet, though. But the smell is starting to get there lol!
ok I’m going to get a preflower from the veg room. And not one of those flower-in-veg-preflowers with complete trichomes. Just an average one from a plant that’s not flooded with bloom hormones.
Those ball-shaped trichomes on the surface are 45 microns/micrometers. Very uniform in size. This is a veg pre-flower off the meat breath plants. I should go see if I can find a pre-flower on the blooming plants still. mmm interesting idea, searching for one. Never thought of that. Hey! I can probably find em still on the bigbud as well. Lemme do a quick check!!!
wow that was a really good idea. The pre-flower still exists on the plant right up till the end. No pistil left, but still chock full of trichomes. I will use the pre-flower as an observation locale since it is on there all through veg then bloom. Or…seems to be anyways We’ll figure that one out lol! Then I should be able to definitively observe what part of the plant transforms into yummy trichomes. And exactly when that starts.
If I were a guessing man, I would guess the smaller orange pollen balls are probably no longer viable. As far as I know, though they are all viable? I guess I could go look at other people’s pollen photos!
woah the world is turned upside down! I can see the trichome field on a male plant! Doh shitballs! You could do a trichome field study on the males!!! holy shite.
That part of the plant is really small. Trichome density is shit. It’s the female meat breath. I should gather some more observations before I enter guru meditation mode.
An academic study in the early 70’s studying cannabinoid content of landrace strains in production regions around the globe found that female lebanese plants had average cannabinoid contents of 5 to 7 percent, while the male lebanese plants contained an average of %12 cannabinoid content.
(They measured cannabinoid content by total volume, chopping up whole fresh plants into fine powder to homogenize it. Much different than modern commercial cannabinoid testing, in which a grower provides a testing company with a dried and trimmed sample of flower.)
