The buds have to be pretty small to not flatten. It’s why I only put my popcorn / larf on my drying screen. I assume the Cannatrol causes more of a flattening because a hanging screen dries the buds really quickly.
That’s a personal issue though. To some it doesn’t matter.
IF you want to use it correctly, all buds are bucked off the stems and broken down into individual smaller buds. To aid in drying consistency and proper placement on the trays. NO deforming occurs to the buds
But then again i have one, and used it 50 times, but what do i know …
I find that the flattened buds are minimal and once they go into grove bags you will not see flattened buds. They turn out perfect.
It took me a few runs in the Cannatrol to get close to how I like my final dry.
You will be happy after you have the settings you like. No more running to your dry room over and over. It’s so much easier than the old way I used to dry. No more fiascos too.
Speaking of Grove’s, went to order some new ones, from their site…damn 15 bucks to ship them!!!
AINT paying that. Amazon has them 2 day del, but 45 % higher price and NO cool soft touch velvet feel nor ones with graphics on them, the ones i like
ANYONE know where to get the “soft touch velvet” bags or ones with graphics on them other than Grove???
Last time I ordered Groves I had some kind of automatic discount added which offset the shipping because I was a repeat buyer. Shipping was free due to this. I’ll check to see if the code is still available and available to copy.
Edit- The discount did not have a code. It was added automatically the last time I ordered. If you ship via UPS it’s close to $10. shipping.
I mean, I have a dehumidifier, a humidifier and an AC. It’s automated, much cheaper and also much much larger. I also have a Pulse environment sensor that I throw in the room so that I can monitor what’s going on from my couch, but that’s not really necessary.
There are reasons why a Cannatrol would be beneficial to certain growers, but I’ve never struggled to dry my harvest. I bet the infomercial’s dramatized reenactment would be pretty funny.
If that works for you I don’t see any reason to change how you do your post harvest. I do feel the Cannatrol is a little small for my outdoor runs and I have to stagger my harvests.
Where I live it is a pain to control drying and this makes my life so much easier. I’m happy with mine.
Hi
So you say yourself that the Cannatrol is basically just a wine cooler with Inqbird and dehumidifier and you only need two hours to build one yourself?
I understand your calculation regarding the sales price, you just sell everything on average 3-4 times more expensive than it costs to buy/manufacture.
Every manufacturer has to earn something, that’s fine.
But don’t you think that from a personal point of view, from grower to grower, it’s not crazy not to build the part yourself.
It’s just 4 parts that you have to buy, two hours of tinkering and you’re done.
1700€ saved if you come from Europe.
I think it would be cool if you could honestly say whether it really makes a big difference, Cannatrol vs replica, i.e. in the end product.
I find it very difficult to decide in favour of a Cannatrol when there is not really anything coming from Cannatrol that definitely excludes this theory (wine cooler +).
I have looked at everything from and about Cannatrol, there is a diagram.
In their research paper, it looks like it’s just a dehumidifier in a fridge.
I just had to choke down the shipping cost. It really is a bunch of BS, especially if you do any shipping yourself and know for a fact they could easily have cut it in half and still made money on the S/H.
it absolutely is a wine cooler they buy it in bulk as a wine cooler you can pull the Cannatrol sticker off of it it’s just a sticker not a real plaque and you can see the original builder of the wine cooler. they use it because of the hundred or so that they tested it was the only one they found that was actually airtight.
what I paid for was the technology of the software that controls the thing and the fact that it works on a slope. The fact that I can control it and that it actually responds which means I can make it work the way I want it to ,
which is way different than their factory settings. I can actually control it by temperature dewpoint or humidity and after playing with it for a year I see what works.
The beauty of it is it doesn’t take up an extra room I’m not fighting four different controls and if I really wanted to after the second day in the machine I could just walk away and leave it and when I decided to come back my bud would be just fine
I don’t have to empty dehumidifiers or put water in the humidifiers or constantly check on my drying bud. i’m not burning electricity with controllers and equipment and controlling a 10 x 10 space or a 4 x 4 tent that’s in an climate controlled room.
Get one thing straight I keep saying that no one hears me it doesn’t dry bud any better than the traditional 15 day hang. absolutely not in fact I think if I were preparing for a contest and I had a room I could keep at 60° and 60% humidity absolutely constant I think I could get a better product out of that than the Cantral.
but in this is a big butt it dries 98% as well in a quarter of the time with absolutely no hassle no worry no work on my part other than the initial settings I put in the machine.
The difference between a perfect 15 day hang dry and then a months cure vs seven days in the Cannatrol and seven days in a Grove bag is minuscule and I mean minuscule I have seen it here firsthand several times. in 15 days I can have bud that even a grower would swear has a month or two to cure on it.
I don’t really give a rats ass what I paid for it anymore that was a long time ago and it absolutely positively 100% covered itself in just lower electric bill compared to my 10 x 10 room with all manner of shit running in a state that’s typically 100° and 94% humidity .
add in the fact that I no longer have to worry about it or even check on it or even think about it and the price is no longer of any concern to me. i’m certainly not rich but I’m not a broke down and I worked all my life and I’ve learned a few lessons one of them is stuff that works costs good money and cheap stuff is just that. yes I paid a premium price for it but the peace of mind that it is giving me back is priceless.
it’s on par with the greatest thing I ever purchased in my life which is a giant doggie door in my back door my whole life changed when I bought that doggie door and it was $2200 installed. if I had to do it again today and inflation made it 10,000 I promise you I’d have a doggie door. The Cannatrol has done the same thing for me I just have to say yet again you cannot use the factory settings on the damn thing or your going to ruin your bud.
I hope to God I never have to do a traditional dry again it’s been over a year and I still remember the horrors of doing that and I can live without ever experiencing that again
Is the whole wall a door like a garage door? Or is the doggie door cut into the glass door? I’m not sure what I’m looking for. Sorry, I’m fairly new around here.
