Cannatrol costs too much. Spend your money on “Star Wars” videos. You will get more enjoyment out of it. I like drying and curing pot. That is part of the craftsmanship.

Totally agree, to a point.

So far, Im having fun with ALL aspects of cannabis growing that I’ve personally experienced. Its all new to me,as I’m in this for less than a year.

I can see this Cannatrol product being a super-expensive tool in one’s arsenal. If I were to purchase one, its to ease the load on me. I’m turning 56 and going down-hill too fast due to past injuries, new stuff, etc.
Im doing this on my own. Wifey does her own stuff. Any edge I can get that makes life easier and possibly/probably increases my finished bud quality, I’m open to.

Chances are I would still do some “traditional” drying/curing even after purchasing, but would’nt feel the pressure to. Still want to water cure at some point as well.

I was already busy before I started growing. Now that Im growing, Im definitely busier and happier and have something that adds purpose. Drying is super-stressful to me.Rewarding, but stressful.

Oh. And Im done Giving Mr Lucas any more of my funds. Ive purchased Star Wars in too many formats since the 80s. VHS, LaserDisc, DVD, special edition, original, etc…

I understand completely. I just turned 57. I must say that I dont think cannatrol is worth it. Even if your cure is not perfect you can still smoke it. I have literaly seen hundreds of full-sized plants hanging in an old barn. We dried pounds of the stuff all at once and no body ever brought it back. But we all have different likes and dislikes. I know people who will only smoke hash. :innocent:

Its without a doubt over-priced. It should be 30% bigger, cost $1400ish delivered and have a 3-year warranty.

So my question is, and has been for a while…
Where’s the competition?
This is right up AC Infinity’s alley. They could nail this at a less “severe” price point. 2-Day Prime shipping anyone?

@supersecretjim my suggestion is if your going to order one, order the extra shelves, you’ll regret not buying them up front.
With standard shelves, I average between 11-12.5 OZ’s dry. With the extra shelves, it ups it to 17-18.5 dry per run.
I don’t keep any large buds, I wet trim, buck it all into nuggets, throw it in, hit start.
Adding the extra shelves will cause you to run an extra couple days on the cycle, but really helps packing it up.

Here it is loaded to the brim.

Bam.Thats what I was wanting to hear and see!
Was waiting for you or jetdro to mention something about exceeding rec dosage, lol.
That should be the most I’d ever pull from my 2x4, although I’m always hopeful for huge harvest!

Yeah, that picture is sexy as fuck…

When you do something like that are you turning buds over at all, or just let it go like that?

I don’t do a damn thing to them, but hit the start button, empty the tray 4-5 times over the 1st 4 days.
I open the door on the 2nd day to insert the sponge, and don’t mess with it at all thru the cycle.
If you leave entire colas, then you’ll get a flat spot, I take my entire plant down to nuggets, haven’t had a flat spot yet. Having giant buds is “cool” but counterproductive in my mind. Touch the same bud 20 times to break off pieces for a joint, or open the Grove bag, grab a nugget or 2 and roll.
I’ve wet trimmed and bucked it down into nuggets for drying for as long as I can remember, and have never had a complaint.

Thanks both of you for that last bit of input, Thats awesome news.
I’ll read the thread and get your numbers.
Currently, for storage I keep everything at 62% but I think a few here do 58%. I may try that as well.

Gonna have to use the secret account for this one. She couldnt even begin to understand $1,691.31 for what in her mind will always be a mini-fridge  with a 1-year warranty… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Just got my email from Cannatrol. Label created and expected here in Vegas this Thursday!
Im gonna have nothing to feed her, lol. Plants are in early veg.

Might show my friend that taught me to grow, the Cannatrol. He’s always harvesting for business. After he calls me an idiot and puts me down several times for my wasted purchase, I’ll see if he can float some fresh harvested bud my way so we can both see for ourselves…

If that doesnt happen, I’ll just put my stored stuff in there.

I know that I’m late to the OG Cannatrol party, but been looking at the unit almost as long as Ive been growing, lol.

I have to laugh at those that propose making their own version. The one on youtube is pretty cool for entertainment, but I wouldnt walk away from it with my precious inside…

Yeah Cannatrol’s expensive. Unaffordable and unknown to most growers, I’d say.

Do people realize to bring even a POS to market costs money? Say a Cannatrol type project costs $270… Then figure at least 2.0 hours labor to assemble project. At $65 per hour, thats $130. Basic parts and labor cost is $400. Multiply by 2-2.5% and wholesale cost is $1000. Multiply by 2-2.5 again and you’re at or exceeding $2000, and this is just the most basic marketing calculation. TIme invested researching and programming, testing, etc.

Cannatrol is possibly a fully-realized product and as mentioned earlier is Set it and Forget it, Mr Popeil.

Looking at it, youd never think it did so much while looking so unassuming.
Fucking expensive, yeah.
Yep. Fucking expensive. Yep. Oh well…

Dude, I was “looking” at one, and I had mentioned it to my wife when I discovered it, because I was debating a freeze dryer, until I saw some of the prices, $3,200, $6,800 and $50k for Home models!!!
Low and behold, once I decided to take my “funny money” and use a little bit of it, I got home, and one was sitting in my living room, compliments of my awesome wife.
I use to get bitched at daily about the smell come harvest time, and that was with my “good” dry room all set up and decked out. I haven’t heard a peep out of her the last 2 years, and mine sits in the living room!!!
And I’ll agree, there are some that are figuring it out, homemade style with Inkbirds, wine fridges, dehumidifiers etc. But, take a look at what kind of power draw that’s using, and I guarantee that it’s more than the 75watts that the Trol uses.
I could easily count on my electric bill going up $150 or more running my old dry room, so not only am I now SAVING money, I don’t have to worry about a damn thing other than a water tray.

I’d be much less likely to talk trash on these things if they figured out a way to prevent flatten your buds. All of that money for such a tight space that is going to leave your buds looking wonky is too much for me.

This statement along with photo and post 946…Plus stuff Jetdro says sold me
But it makes sense, if you lay any heavy bud on a hard, flat surface it has the potential to flatten. Mitigation is key. Buck the colas and wet trim for supposedly satisfactory results.

I cant speak from experience, as my Cannatrol wont arrive til later this week.
Thats the way I plan to handle my upcoming June harvest!
