why 52F with grove bags? I was considering 4C or 39F for storage.

I don’t think there’s any special science behind the 52F. The recommendation from Jetdro was to keep it under 70F. I think 52F is the standard temp that most wine fridges are set to, but 39F should work just fine.

thanks, I was wondering the reference, I like looking for the latest research info.

How’s the taste out of the Cannatrol? I see some reports on it not smelling much until it is ground up, I get the science and the Terp lock feature is appealing, I just want to know if everything is tasting like the strain and not like hay

Hey welcome to OG @What

Yes in my experience the hay smell comes from people drying too fast… i just did a run in mine and i never got a hay smell 1 time at all ever…

Also 2 different types in same unit… they taste like they should… different from each other … unique in their terpenes… so i disagree with the smell bleeding into each other also…

Id think 39 would be too cold… it will work… but it will work VERY SLOWLY

So far I’ve cured/dried 6 different strains in the Cannatrol.
None of them had any hay smell, and they all had unique flavor/smell.

Welcome @What !

Guessing you dont have a Cannatrol yet. I had mine two months prior to running a batch.

Im about to put another harvest in Cannatrol tomorrow. Running some new settings, did a test batch that turned out great!

Cannatrol is a tool.
Expect a not so great turn out on first harvest or two… Or not.
If you follow basic instructions then youll be in great shape to be surprised by the end result… Good or bad.

Default settings work for some and destroy weed for others. See how it works for you, then make a decision from there to stay default or make changes to improve results.

No guarantee at all until you dive in.

If you purchase used and it doesnt work out, you can sell for same.
Prices 1000-1100 roughly.

Here’s my latest run…

Powie Pineapple

1993 Grams, or 4.3 lbs wet. Lets see what happens

Used 8 shelves for the Dry

Over 4 lbs wet into Cannatrol for 10 Day Dry Cycle, then into Grove Bags or possibly finish in unit.

Here’s link to diary:

Here’s Cannatrol settings I’m using for this run…
10 day Dry set to Slope

Dry: 68 dry bulb 57.5 dew point

Cure: 68 dry bulb 54.7 dew point
Take out after 10 days and toss in Grove Bags. Gonna give it a whirl :100:

I definitely need to find a way to quickly process a big portion through it … thanks for the link

My first batch in the Cannatrol turned out great. Full Dry and cure cycle at default worked pretty well for me. Not a lot of smell when in storage. But as soon as you start to mess with the buds. They reek of dankness. Perfect for storage and dry/curing in my situation. Could be larger. No Hay smell. 2nd run coming soon. W for me. Getting more paper bags. Do I need the Cannatrol ones or regular is fine? I love how they keep in them. I need to order some soon.

Any paper bag will do, I use the brown paper grocery bags and, they are great!

Hey Guys…

Problem with my Cannatrol Cool Cure… Anyone experience the same or similar?

Stopped my 10 day run after 7 days. Everything was fine. Pressed Reset and then to move to Store or Stand By setting.

Tried to run store setting at 68° & 54.7° Dew Point, but just soars past 54.7 to main setting 57+ Dew Point. Seems stuck chasing the higher number in set in Dry Stage instead of lower number set in Store setting.

Ive unplugged Cannatrol and it keeps the same behavior,

Only thing that changes it is changing Dry Cycle Settings and Cure. I just make sure all three are the same setting, and it works.

EDIT

Spoke with Dave at Cannatrol. Normal operation. Its updated in later version of manual says Dave.

So, if you just turn on your Cool Cure and set Hold Stage to any setting, it will not reach that setting unless Dry Stage setting is the same.

Was just casually watching this one again and something caught my interest :100:

Check out at roughly 43:56…

Starts getting good a bit earlier - around 43:00.

Davids words…

Doesn’t matter what time of year it is…
It doesn’t matter where you are… in the high desert, or down off Florida on the coast… You’re going to have the same results in the Box repeatedly over and over again

Consistent, repeatable environment…

David’s words… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure if this one’s been mentioned, but someone has been trying to sell a shell Cannatrol unit. No display… Facebook Marketplace SanFrancisco area…

I spoke with David yesterday. He would sell an LCD Display/Interface module for $100, plus shipping. Not bad, I thought it would be a bit more $$$.
Wouldnt be a bad deal if box working. Too far for me to drive each way in a day.

BTW… Second Cannatrol unit arriving* Saturday :beers:

*arriving defined as me driving hundreds of miles to pick up an LKQ Cannatrol Cool Cure unit.
Road Trip! Stans already excited :100:

Its NOT the shell unit mentioned above.

That unit has been for sale in San Francisco for months. I actually called him a few times. Flaky dude I’m not even sure he actually has the unit. I tried to make arrangements and he was super flaky. Best of luck everyone … Cheers !!!
