iā€™m trying out some 5.8 gallon air pots. my only complaint is that they dry out too quickly. i also have some 3 gallon square black plastic pots that i was very happy with, if i like the air pots i have to buy more but i canā€™t afford them right now.

blows my mind that roots are strong enough to penetrate the thick fabic of the pots.

Roots are roots. I didnā€™t cut a shoot of Mugwort growing out the side of my driveway and now I have a pile of asphalt with a cluster of roots doing their thing.

I havenā€™t. One more extra product I donā€™t wanna have to buy haha (pricier than my soil). The Pro Mix HP I use is already very high in perlite but mixed in. To get them out I usually have to take them over a 5 gal bucket and put it upside down and press down but ripping the roots as I go and itā€™s a pain. Takes too much time. I donā€™t mind dedicating a lot of time to trimming but boring things like that I can do without :stuck_out_tongue: Might have to try it with one or 2 pots if I have no luck finding those thin ass disposable ones.

@anonymous4289 With the way Iā€™m trying to learn to grow I actually want the pots to dry out faster. Especially during flower. I have a system set up with these hydrolock things but at the time when I purchased them the only cone things that were avail were for 5 gal pots. I have since realized these are too big for what I want to do so I am going to switch out these cones which reduce evaporation from the top with some emitters instead so I can feed more often, but less at a time and have more dry backs. I want to go down to 2 gals ideally.

I usually go with 2x 5 gals of promix bx and 1x 5 gal of perlite because I find the promix toward month two gets really compacted down.

When Iā€™m removing my used BX from my net pots I cart them into my garage and let them dry out to the point of almost weightless. I then use my garden knife to break up the mass and then scoop it into an empty garbage can.

Itā€™s similar to how I harvest root crops (like Liquorice) from 1/2 oak barrels without swearing up the neighbourhood!

Good stuff.

That isnā€™t fun. Iā€™ve never had it but I have seen people with it. Dry socket is terrible.

@4ftfarmer Iā€™m not even sure which thread to put this in but you definitely inspired me to make a sugar cream pie. It is cooling on the windowsill in my refrigerator right now.

I wanted to try @anon93244739 's buttermilk pie as well but I have neither buttermilk nor tart jam. Actually donā€™t have any jams.
